  1. Good point on how many KMs it takes to pay itself off... Only thing about the Navara is it drives and rides like a truck, too.
  2. I don't think the Euros are born equal... I haven't had a single problem with my BMW and have had it for a while. It's heading onto 5 years old now. But it's not a diesel. Mates with VWs and Audis (and my Uncle that runs a fleet) had problems not with the fact they are diesel but just general maintenance (electrics, gearboxes, fit and finish, turbo guzzling oil, another - just one though - blew its turbo!).
  3. Out of the Japs I found Subaru diesels appalling to drive. Really notchy, shit gear change and gutless. The Mazda 6 though, that was nice.
  4. That Passat is quick! Our next daily will be a diesel, thinking BMW 123D or 323D (150kW 0-100km/h in 7s). I always buy 3yr old cars after they've done the bulk of their depreciating.
  5. And the new M5 will be a V8 TT.
  6. It's more the fact that their cars are overpriced to buggery in Australia. The 1 series is a great little car - I've got one - but not for $50k.
  7. An Integra Type R would own a VT in the handling and enjoyment department. While you're at it you might as well write off the WRX too because it handles like a FWD... And the Integra Type R was far more of a driver's car. Depends on the car more than anything.
  8. As long as they don't f**k with the 1 series, it's all good. It'll probably be an ok car (not that I own any FWDs out of 3 cars).
  9. Mates, colleagues and family members (one who runs a fleet of 1k+ cars) have had nothing but trouble with VWs and Audis. I like them, but I'm not sure if I'd like to own one. My BMW is sweet. No matter which way you go, be wary of particulate filter problems in diesel models of various manufacturers. And generally speaking, I've found the Japanese stuff better on maintenance overall.
  10. I don't think it's bad at all, perhaps the rear 3/4 view is slightly awkward.
  11. A little bit of a video of it: Shows you a bit more and you can sort of hear what it sounds like at idle (cammed big block )
  12. I know you said you want a Skyline and plenty of others are offering for free, but just in case you have mates or whatever that need a ride... I do formals (and weddings) in this, 1970 Dodge Challenger 440ci 6 Pack R/T: Normally charge $250 but since it's not peak would do it for $200. Otherwise I have the R32 GTR but never done a formal in one:
  13. If you're over 25 and have a decent history (claims, fines, licence etc) then call Shannons.
  14. He bought this because it's pre law change, where the RHD converted to LHD cars are not allowed to be registered. This one is registered as it was done prior to the law coming into effect, I think. I wondered the same thing! Should be a fun car though.
  15. Sweet, great looking car.
  16. Spot each morning walking to work in Braddon a parked black R33 GTR. Looks tidy.
  17. Sweet dog mate
  18. Yeah, I don't think GTRs do tuck all that well. Tidy car though.
  19. 1. Get quote for damage 2. Send letter of demand - including the costs of the fine, car was registered! - with story and the photo evidence and quote 3. If 2 fails, small claims court it
  20. Nice Nick, probably all in my head but my car with a 5" cat feels like it just comes on harder and earlier... Sounds poppier and louder anyway.
  21. Just as my stockies would top out at 305rwkW these will top out at 360rwkW... My bottom end will be annoyed prior to this though. Cam gears and 100k service bits to buy, then I'll book it in. Might leave it a month or so and revive this thread as I have a bill coming up on another car this month...
  22. Thanks Adam, I figured the 20% additional flow should be able to cope at this stage. Seems like I was right, I just saw Nismoid mention minimum 700cc in another thread and started to wonder... I'm at Option 1, with Option 2 around the corner. I'm not fussed about the higher boost threshold with the -5s... I have a 440ci V8 in my Challenger for when I want 'response' LOL
  23. OK, I've questioned whether the injectors I bought are big enough... They aren't 550cc but Blitz 534cc. How much power can these handle? (I don't know the specs of delivery for calculations. ) Would these be better? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RB26DETT-7MGE-7MGTE-4ME-5ME-rb26-680cc-Fuel-Injectors-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem27b8a9b421QQitemZ170601853985QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories More than happy to listen to recommendations for new ones if mine are too small...
  24. Agreed, it's a very common arrangement. The market should come to a rateable solution. Often it's up to the underwriter to decide at the time, but make sure you actually do tell them when they ask.
