  1. No, definitely not. You have a duty of disclosure and common law have to act in utmost good faith. Withholding this information is only going to upset you come claim time. You should always give your insurer as much information as possible. If they say no, find another one.
  2. I got 294awkw and 307rwkw (R32 GTR). So, pretty close!
  3. How well were the dash controls working prior to removal? Is $80 the best you can do?
  4. I didn't do the dumps because I had often seen 380+kW seen being made by R33 and R34 dump pipes. I am yet to see a 3" Catco (not metal) do that kind of power? I've bought a 5" Cat, 550cc injectors, plugs and APEXi pods (second hand - just in case my tuner really, really wants to fit them... I'd prefer to stay with the air box I went to an effort of sourcing and fitting). Still got to buy cam gears, coil packs and 100k service kit.
  5. Thanks for that Damien, that'll be next round of mods if I don't get much out of this lot. Only after 10% at this stage (hopefully enough boost to wake up the -5s) which I think is probably realistic.
  6. Thanks Nick. It will be interesting to see your results.
  7. 5" catalytic converter bolt into R32 GTR with mild steel flanges = $421 delivered with gaskets from SureFlo. Email Greg if you are after one: [email protected]
  8. I've asked Greg from SureFlo to see if he can do up a bolt in unit, 5" body and 3" or 3.5" pipe. I will keep you all posted here. It will be sweet if he can do it as per his website .
  9. I have this one fitted right now: http://www.justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=18066&cat=275&page=1 Which has been pointed out as too restrictive for my -5s, HKS exhaust, etc. Currently sitting on 300RWkW and looking for more. No I'm confused, when Ash et al say you need a 4" cat at least, they are talking about the body not the pipe? LOL And you're right, pressurising something hard as so it flows is pretty meaningless. Sounds good though.
  10. While they sound very good they aren't old in and need flanges and nuts for the sensor. This is an easier proposition: http://www.justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=16440&cat=275&page=1 Just worried it might be too small? But I'm worried 4" is too big for the system. When people say 4" are they referring to the body or pipe?
  11. Greg from sure has sent me the following: Our Ballistic 100cpsi Racing Cats are available in 4” body, 4.5” body and 5” body. The 4” and 4.5” are available up to 3” pipe size. The 5” body are available in 3”, 3.5” and 4” pipe size and the 4” pipe size flows 1023cfm. The 4” body are $230 each, 4.5” body are $270 each and the 5” body are $340 each + $16 for delivery. All are in stock. The bigger the body the better they flow. They are sounding very good. I have a HKS front pipe (3") and HKS cat back (3.5"). I was going to get a 4" pipe but I'm concerned about turbulence?
  12. Jez, I haven't run this one down the 1/4. I haven't ran a car for 3 years! I actually changed it to this cat as the one it had previously looked old. This cat looked exactly the same as the previous one. It's probably not crash hot, a 3" 400 cell. I saw that too, Adam. So thanks for clarifying Ash. I will go 4" to save upgrading again later. Does any one do a bolt in 4"? I know X-Force do a 3.5" bolt in, but would ideally be after a 4".
  13. I went that 'response' path in my post as everyone (used to?) harp on about response being boosted markedly by cam gears. If I wasn't thinking about a cam belt service I probably wouldn't have done another round of mods... I wasn't complaining and was left open for the standard criticism with the -5s, LOL. I don't find the -5s laggy at all (they pull well from 3k RPM), especially considering the top end they can end up with. Horses for courses. I think I saw the ad when your car was for sale Dean. Pretty special R32 GTR you have mate! Keep us updated when you fit -5s, they will go very well and I'm sure you'll find they have good average power.
  14. Great information Michael, thanks for that. Your car will be animal on E85! Good luck with it.
  15. Venom cats here: http://www.venomexhaustworks.com.au/products.html Any one running one of these? I was considering an X-Force myself.
  16. Thanks Jeff. It appears I was on the right track. I was just under the impression that cam gears would aid response, but I am by no means complaining about it as it is currently. It had a cam belt service in 2005, apparently, but I can't be sure about that and doing this was a form of insurance I guess.
  17. Thanks Michael, I appreciate the response. What you say seems to make sense as the 20psi spike gave a lot more mid range, but it wasn't the highest power run (301kW). Power is a table top right now, probably tuned that way with timing due to injectors. Or it could be an exhaust restriction.
  18. I just checked and I'm running 18psi. I was clearly confused with the 20psi figure as it spiked to that on one run early in the rev range (stuck in my head). It's just on 18psi... Which is still low power. Why did I expect people to come in and say all this about my turbo choice? I think regular readers have probably heard it enough. People get tired of post-rationalising their turbo choice. I bought the -5s already, there's no point criticising me for that. I did so with good reason. I don't often smash or track the car and I have intentions of building a motor in the GTR when it's ready, so I'm not too fussed about bottom end (I'm doing my big block Dodge Challenger now, but whatever). I had HKS2530s in this car prior. It currently makes 160rwkw at 3000rpm, 200+rwkw at 4500rpm, 260rwkw at 5000rpm and 307kW at 5500rpm which it holds very flat to 7000+rpm. This is good power from 3000rpm I'm not complaining about it, am I? I just use the gears . I just want to maximise what I have now and have some commentary on my proposed path. I appreciate the advice regarding the cat and possible restrictions in the exhaust. Thanks everyone.
  19. It might be under 20psi, perhaps 18 or 19psi. I understand it is low for these turbos and wondered if there was a restriction there at all?
  20. Hi all I'm looking for some guidance/advice/comments/recommendations and general commentary on weaknesses in my set up given my goals. I've had the shop who tunes my car recommend pods and injectors for more. I'm looking for response too, so will do some further things and a cam belt service at the same time. Currently making 307rwkW on 20psi (has done 293awkW too). I am aiming for more responsive 330+wkW. General: Ghetto JDM catch can Internally stock RB26 ARC radiator, Nismo thermostat GReddy oil cooler APEXi Power FC HKS EVC-S Intake/Fuel/Spark: R32 GTR airbox (K&N filter) Z32 AFMs Stock intercooler HKS hard piping kit Bosch pump of some description Stock injectors Stock coils NGK copper plugs Turbos & Exhaust: -5s N1 manifolds (from TangoMatt's beast) R33 GTR dump pipes HKS front pipe (older style) Catco 3" cat HKS cat back (3.5") Considered mods: Cam gears Injectors Metal catalytic converter APEXi pods Spitfire coils Fresh plugs Tune Let me know what you think I should be doing this round of changes or where I'm going wrong! Cheers Matt
  21. Any difference between the NUR gear (specifically cams) and the regular RB26 stuff?
  22. $300 is hardly expensive. Tuggeranong is a long way for me to go though. LOL
  23. $300 is all good if I can find a place.
  24. So I'm told my system is too old to re-gas with what it takes (R12) and rebuilding it all for new gas is ultra expensive (not quoted). I was told possibly someone with some of the old gas cleaner which is now unavailable would prep the system for the new gas type, but you can't buy it any more... Alternatives to this, any one?
  25. Early model wheel: Notice the plastic which follows the wheel spokes from behind? The later model doesn't have that and is significantly lighter. The sensors are in different for the HICAS which you can't see and I think the horn works differently, too... Going off shady memory here. Late model wheel: No plastic following spokes, just a plastic ring around the boss.
