  1. lol, actually i would, i wouldn't mind a i45 tourer personally, or perhaps an i30 diesel, however, in saying that, i've got an r32 gtr that i'd like to preserve lol
  2. although it might be a nismo, it's been resprayed and unfortunately that defeats the purpose of owning one of these and may reduce the price significantly They only ever came out in gunmetal grey, other than the body kit, the only other obvious tell-tale sign is the white vinyl sticker on the rear and the vin number, it should also be missing a rear wiper blade assembly, abs should also be missing and in some cases, on the dash controls, the radio button should be missing too
  3. point 4 intrigues me? I would of thought the other way around on this one: The r32 gtr has a different bonnet, and wider front guards, and a different rear spoiler as opposed to the stock gts-t, it's a very noticable attribute the r34 gtr again is the same, different bonnet, wider guards, etc the r33 gtr on the otherhand looks the same to me personally as the gt25-t, that is to say that most gt25-t's are sporting the same rear spoiler, a smaller GTR badge in the grille, and in most cases have very similar body kits Again, this is my opinion on the r33 GTR. Anyway, back to the topic. No, don't use a GTR as a daily, it's too expensive to run, maintain and use as a daily, i'm doing that right now, and the fuel it takes for 500km is more than a v8 lol As for the r34 GTR vs the r33 gtr, this simply comes down to you, however, financially, neither will be cheaper to own in the long run...it's an import
  4. I agree with you on the couple of decades thought, i can't see a r32 gtr getting classic status for at least 20 more years, and you're right, there are "way too many" r32 gtr's at the moment, however, Aside from the chasis numbers, the only defining r32 gtr was the Nismo edition, which had the least amount produced and the body kit, though, most r32 gtr's are sporting parts off that edition and very few of those nismo's exist in their original conditions (most have been resprayed). So considering that, will the r32 gtr become a base plate for replica's to made of, like gt-ho falcons, torana's, etc? or is it good enough in stock form to gain appreciation later on as a classic in itself?
  5. unless this thing is gunmetal grey, has a full nismo body kit, doesn't have abs, a rear wiper blade and isn't sporting a nice "white" vinyl nismo sticker on the back, then you've already lost a majority of your dollars and it'll just look like every other r32 gtr out there, albeit with a nismo vin number
  6. Agreed, though personally, I'm not too sure about the R33 GTR? (not bagging out the r33 gtr owners) That is to say, in Australia, with so many r33's gt25t's rolling about with gtr styled body kits, I find it hard to sympathis with the R33 GTR, i'm not saying it isn't note worthy, it just feels cheapened by the amount of r33's out there Other than this, I have to wonder what the r33 GTR has to offer to future collectors? (other than being an r33 gtr?) The r32 gtr re-ignited the GTR legacy with it's racing dominance, and the r34 finished it? Any thoughts on the r33 gtr?
  7. I'm actually doing both: Firstly to ensure that the oil is actually at that level and not just trickling down the dipstick when removed and then verifying it by wiping it off and diping it back in, leaving it for a moment and the re-checking the level. This afternoon I checked over it 4 times, each time it registered "half full," interestingly though, there are streaks of oil that sit up towards the "high" point. Just to make sure I wasn't causing this myself, I carefully pulled it, ensuring it didn't scrape anything. So far this is stumping me, because it has about 5.6L worth of oil in it, in the stock oil pressure gauge is registering a normal oil pressure, operating temps are fine and the car is fully functional, so the low oil reading on the dipstick is stumping me lol
  8. Wow...i dare say the only road use that car has seen is literally to the detailers, that car is scarily clean lol Worst colour? no way, the gun-metal grey is the quintessential r32 gtr colour Can't really see a r32 gtr as an investment, more like that car your grand-parents/ parents owned when they were younger and regretted selling later life? (not sure if you get me) perhaps a better way think about it is like this: Think of our parents/ grandparents generation and how they would of owned all of those nice cars we consider "old school," such as the toranas, monaros, rx3's, datsun 1600, etc Now consider the asking price for those cars and how they've come back into the spot light over the recent years and how they're priced? Do you feel the skyline will gain that type of status in later life? or will it just be another japanese sports car?
  9. I don't disagree with you there, aside from the australian delivered one's, is there much value in the n1, nismo, v-spec, etc? I only say this as most r32 gtr's out there are sporting parts off the nismo body kit, i.e the front bar vents, the lip, or other nismo optional kits/ parts? along with that, engines are often rebuilt, converted to single turbo conversions and the like? So do you feel the stock r32 gtr's in original spec, will rise more in price in say in the comming decades? or will their production numbers keep them at a steady value?
  10. Hi everyone, Was reading through a fast fours and rotaries today and there was a random comment made on a r32 gtr. It suggested clean examples are on their way to "becomming Japanese classics (in australia)," any thoughts on that? Were there "too many" r32 gtr's made and/ or imported into australia for it too considered a potential "classic?" or perhaps, could they become the equivalant of the Australian classics i.e. the monaro, torana or falcon gt-ho of pervious generations? Thoughts? Meta
  11. Hi again everyone, The engine was rebuilt to standard, there's no sump extension or anything dramatic that'd suggested the lower oil reading on the stick As for the dip stick, it's a factory rb26 stick, so, it's odd that it's showing anything else but full with how much oil i've put in Anyway, i've just checked the oil again after having it sit for awhile, it show's a very nice thick reading across the middle between the high and low, however, there's also streaks of oil up the dipstick towards the high? Any thoughts on that? I'll take a pic soon and post what i mean, if that helps anyone
  12. lol, sorry mate you won't be getting your hands on my sougi collection, I dare say, it's quite literally one of the last in the country
  13. Out of curiosity, I've been storing away bottles of Sougi S 5000 and 6000 (out of direct sunlight), do oils have a lengthy shelf life? or will they degrade regardless of what condition they're stored in?
  14. thanks for the advice guys, but i have tried for the obvious, the car still reads the same now that it is cold, which is low Initially it read half, and then reduced down to very low on the dipstick, I then refilled an extra litre, after running it in, so it should be reading higher now with 5.6L, however, it doesn't. the car sits on a level ground, there is no incline. Oil pressure readings from the oil gauge in the car read fine and are normal. It seems odd that the rb26 wouldn't register 5.6L of oil on a dipstick higher than low? Again, there's no mechanical issues, loss of power or any obvious reasons why it'd be running through this much oil
  15. yes, i have, no oil leaks, as mentioned in the first post, everything is fine, just the reading is low
  16. correct dipstick? lol, i'm assuming so, however, is there a way to check if i have the right one for an rb26?
  17. yeah, i should of put that in the post earlier lol, I've poured in about a litre more, however, it's still not going past half-way, so i'm a little frustrated as you can imagine lol
  18. Hey everyone, Changed my oil on my r32 gtr, filled it up with 4.6L as recommened, checked the dipstick level and it read only half full? Decided to run the oil in, came back and the level was just making the 'low level" on the dip stick!? Left the car to sit and settle for a couple of hours, again, the same reading? Obviously there's oil lol, the gtr runs fine underload/ boost and there's no signs of oil leaks, loss of power or anything disturbing I just can't understand why the dipstick gives me such a low oil reading? Has anyone else had this issue with an rb26 motor? is it a sign of something worst? or is it something rather simple? thanks meta
  19. paid 13.5k for my stock r32 gtr, completely resprayed, engine rebuilt and nismo body kit, had 74000km on it and came with a receipts, original import papers, etc, early model gtr though, however, can't fault it for it's age lol...number 246...so one of the very earliest lol
  20. Hey R-tune, I've checked that sensor, it's all good and connected Where abouts can i find that water valve on the fire wall? thanks for you help guys meta
  21. Hey everyone, Thinking about off loading my horde of Gulf western Sougi S 5000 and 6000, I just wanted to guage from everyone, what they felt was a fair price to sell it off for? I'm thinking: $45 for the Sougi S 5000 $75 for the Sougi S 6000 I'm not out to make a profit, I'm just keen for others to appreciate it and use it, as I've got quite a bit of it sitting at my parents house and their tired of it lol thanks, Meta
  22. Hey everyone, I'm Meta, and i've got an r32 gtr in gunmetal grey, should be noticeable because there's a nice dint in the side of the left guard...(some dick reversed into me on the Barkly highway), it's a stock gtr, so you'll probably see it around Palmerston
  23. Hey everyone, I'm alittle stumped with this one and i'm can't seem to figure it out, So my aircon isn't working properly for some reason, it's stuck on hot, however, i've jimmy'd the hot/ cold door to cold, which hasn't done anything lol I've gone through 3 blend door servo motors, each have been re-soldered and put back together carefully, however, they don't seem to work properly afterwards, initially, they'll work, however, afterwards they just die out (i've tried the paper jam thing and everything else i could think of), I've also changed the cable that matches up to the door motor So what stumps me is, now with the aircon door stuck on cold, why is it still producing hot air? And is there anything else I could check out? This is what i've done so far: - Run diagnostic on the climate control, it's working within the tolerable ranges - Aircon has been regassed, the clutch is fine, the whole aircon system is fine - Changed the blend door servo motors - Checked for any air temp sensors issues Again, any advice or where to look would be great, it's hot here in Darwin lol...Need aircon!!! Thanks Meta
  24. Hey mate, do you still have the aircon blend door servo motor/ acuator, if you do, i'll take that and the wiring harness for it, PM SENT just in case thanks meta
