  1. Dont set it to auto, when it works it works perfects holding 18psi to redline but generally I had the same problem in my car. Adjust the gain and duty until it suits your desired boost level and leave it at that.
  2. What is everyones boost running stock? mine with just a cat back and stock everything else seems to sometimes hit 1.1 bar and then hover around the 1 bar point. Is this common? It seems high to me but the car is basically stock except for a crap cat back
  3. I went in Shepo's car today (thanks Matt I really appreciate it) and although lag is subjective let me tell you that only running 16psi on -5's it was not laggy (in my opinion) and went pretty hard! Yes my stock R34 came on boost earlier but I have been concentrating on the power bands when I give it the business in my gtr and in all honesty the -5's dont look to bad at all. I am still super keen to see what -7's are like as all my previous modded cars have been super resonsive hence the reason for hesitating with the -5's over the -7's. I am just so curious as to why no one has tried the -9's, I would try them myself but I dont really want to be the first one to say 'yeah i tried them and they are crap'... I am torn between the two but I also respect the reasoning behind the -7's and the people puishing the -7's are the people in the know! i will keep on doing my research and if anything pops up I will be the first to post... As good as the -5's are, I just cant get over how resonsive the stock 34 GTR turbos are and how they pull you out of any corner and every corner, its just the drop off up top that worries me. The fact that the -7 can pull xxxrwkw and the -5's can do xxx+rwkw doesnt really bother me at all.
  4. Everyone makes valid points, I think the only way to decide is to hop into a car with both setup and see what I think. Do we all agree that max boost on a stock bottom end would be approx 18-20 psi (20 at the absolute max only for -7's) I am not looking to build my engine unless it goes bang, and it is quite healthy so unless I do something stupid i think it should be fine.
  5. I must agree with Ash here, those -5's on the graph look laggy, I quite like the way the stock turbos kick in nice and low and find myslef never really wanting or needing to push it over 6,000rpm... I think Ill chuck my car on my mechanics dyno and compare it to his other customers who have the -5's that way I can have an accurate comparission between the two, as we will be using same computers and tuner. To me those -5's look laggier than just 600rpm behind, as getting to .9 bar they are much laggier than that, they look like they feel very progressive in the lower rev range where the stockies look very punchy and responsive, the -5's don't come on boost like the stockies until 4100ish rpm
  6. Thanks Ash a ride in different cars would sell me in a second I think, But out of the smaller ones which are the better options? -7's or -9's as I think that the -9's also have the rear housing option at .64 and .86? This is where I can not find much info, if the -9's are equiv to GTSS then which rear housing option is the way to go? is the .86 to big for the smaller turbo? I appreciate everyones help
  7. I have read this thread a few times and like everyone else I am so confused! I want to go -7 or -9's but I am tempted to go -5's! Why don't more people go for the -9's I dont think I have seen any dyno results of -9's, if so many people are confused like me about choosing between -7's and -5's then why don't more people go for the -9's? Do the -9's not perform well? on paper they seem like a good compromise if you are worried about lag and want a street car. I think that lag is also very subjective, My 34 GTR for a stockish car is great for response and I would be happy to lose a little response but the -5's some people say are alggy and others not at all. decisions decisons!
  8. This is a good genuine car guys and girls! free bump!
  9. I certainly will mod it but all in good time, I'm really busy with work and going on overseas soon so it may have to wait until next year, for now I just want to drive and enjoy!
  10. Thanks, no I dont have the stag anymore, I didnt want to get rid of it but I just couldnt justify having 3 cars so the stag had to go! It will be dearly missed though!

    R34gtr Exaust

You can have a quick skyline under 90db, the exhaust Ash is talking about is a 3.5 inch which will output monster power which is amazing how quite they are, I have herd a few and I am considering getting one myself as a 3inch just won't do. I had a Fujitsubo exhaust (two oval mufflers) on my manual stagea which had 265 rwkw and was as quiet as stock on part accel, sure it was a little restrictive but until I really opened it up you cound ont even hear it, my mechanic even thought it had stalled at the lights it is so quiet that he tried to turn it over again while it was still running!! It didnt have that destinctive RB rumble but I loved how quiet yet how powerful the car was. I think it all depends on your ultimate goal, if you are happy with the 250ish rwkw then it is possible to have a very quiet and legal exhaust but if you are wanting huge power then you have to pay for it and go for a Racepace style exhaust. How much are the full GTR Racepace exhausts roughly? or even a cat back?
  12. Sabbadin Automotive, he has done all my past cars and every one of them have been perfect, I wont go anywhere else! I will leave it stock for a bit as I am suprised at how well it goes right now, but as with all my cars in the past I will be doing all the bolt ons! No worries buddy, I have not let anyone drive it yet but for you I will make an exception! Hey buddy, how have you been?? I loved that GTO i had, it was perfect in so many ways but was a difficult car to own to say the least, awesome tourque and a perfect long distance cruiser, it just wasnt as practical as a Skyline as it sat in the garage for months on end. I let that go for an silly cheap amount considering it was probably the best condition ones it had seen and the price I got wouldn't even have covered the mods! oh well, that cars for you! Hey nikki, hows it going? I just checked out carsales and didnt see it, but I have people ring me and tell me that they see it around, the funny thing is I spoke to the guy that bought it and he has no idea what he bought! He thought it was all stock just with an intercooler and exhuast! hahaha what until he winds some boost back into it! I think that I will finally be happy with this car and hang on to it for a while, thanks for the chat the other week, I needed some more convincing to buy a GTR!
  13. Thanks guys, I am over the moon about the car, it is great to drive. The mods will eventually start but for now I'm just loving having it!
  14. ahahaha not at all, I was one for years!
  15. hey buddy that was me in the GTR, that dick in the wrx was trying to edge me on for ages! bloody twit! I saw the SAU stickers on your car and should have given you a wave! Dave
  16. Well those of you that know me, know that I have been wanting a GTR forever and have always found a reason to buy something different, well finally here she is!
  17. My HKS GTRS on my Stagea has a loud 'whistle' which is a totally different sound to the induction pod sound
  18. Are they for an Auto or RS4S?
  19. What happened to the interior and wheels? That is not a genuine RS4S interior or wheels
  20. Was this a Factory RS4S ? or was it converted from auto?
  21. A 2 psi drop isnt bad, My gtrs drops from 18psi to 17psi and that is with an EBC
  22. I have one on my car and these kits are very hard to come buy and an great cooler. Good Luck with the sale
  23. How much power are you looking at making and do you have a built motor to handle what a GT35 can put out? I think that you will find a GT30 turbo will be large enough to put out some very decent power.
