  1. Using your hybrid t3/t4 hiflow would give you better results and even more so after increasing boost (due to the crappy ceramic exhaust wheel of the stock turbo), but what would be even better is hiflowing your stock r33 gts-t turbo
  2. Hi, Maybe get a compression test and see how healthy your motor is before you begin modding? just making sure all your cylinders are in good condition. If you are confident that your engine is healthy then...If you haven't done the rest of your exhaust (aka dump pipe, hi flow cat, front pipe) you should get that done. A split dump pipe would be in your best interests if you can fork out the extra dollars (shouldn't be TOO much more). FMIC, some form of boost control to put your boost up to 10-11psi, a piggyback fuel controller (apexi safc) and a good tune should see a nice power increase. To stop your missing have you tried simple remedies like resetting your stock ecu? smaller gaps in your spark plugs (eg 0.8mm instead of 1.1mm)? they might help. A whiteline handling kit will do wonders in the handling department along with some decent tread. I'm not sure, but maybe a trans cooler and a higher stall converter is necessary with your increased power. Hope this is of help!
  3. i might get my mate who owns my old r33 to give it a run if dr_drift is willing to give discounted dyno time - i think dr_drift is familiar with the vehicle too. i'm very interested in the results of this, good stuff bass!
  4. You will not see 1rwkw more from using such a hardcore ECU (probably autronic or motec like INASNT suggested) then from the powerfc (providing that the tuner is confident and has good experience with both ecus). Especially at your stage, I can't see why you need to spend that extra on the ECU, with the money you save from getting the powerfc you could get other parts that can make your car EVEN better. But each to your own, if you are confident in your tuners ability and he is confident in that ECU, it would probably be best to do what he recommends - as they say, the ECU is only as good as your tuner.
  5. hehe key word being might, a few people i know after fitting them got this result, but after they got a retune they achieved the same result as you.
  6. You might lose abit of response down low with the dump pipe, but the top end flow would easily compensate this plus more. A powerfc if you shop around would be around $1k new (nengun) or cheaper 2nd hand. To install it is free if you know how to use a ratchet and only takes 10 minutes. Tuning, depending on where you go will vary from $500 to $700 for a base tune - also the powerfc can go with all the other mods you do in the future as well, injectors, a/m turbo etc etc. shootout mode is when they take out some factors in calculating the estimated power your car has, like air temp and some other factors to give you a figure that you can compare with other people done on the same type of dyno that you went on. Also I would not recommend 15 psi on the standard R33 turbo, as it will most likely blow a ceramic exhaust wheel into your cat. After a FMIC and exhaust you should run 12 psi max if you want to keep your standard turbo for a while. hope this has pointed you in the right direction, have fun modding
  7. I agree with Wazr32, I think completing the rest of the exhaust should be the next thing you should be looking at. BATMBL on these forums sells an awesome dump/front pipe and an excellent hi-flow cat which give you good gains at a top price. I don't think a fuel cut defender is necessary? better off saving the cash for some full (powerfc?) or piggyback (SAFC?) management . If you shop around there are some cheap fmic kits around so keep an eye out.
  8. hey on a totally offtopic and unrelated reply, the link in your sig to your for sale thread is b0rked R31Nismoid ^_^
  9. That's a pretty good result ! may I ask what was your 60ft time were on those 3 runs if you don't mind.
  10. Anything is possible , just depends on how deep your wallet is. I can start you off with a pointers though, but it really depends on your budget. At 350rwkw you'd need to get the internals done as well, as thats really pushing the standard internals. - Full ECU (powerfc?) - Larger injectors (550cc might be ok, unsure) - new AFM (Z32?) - Larger fuel pump (bosch 044?) - Larger turbo (GT30 or GT35?) - Boost controller (any of those jap ones are good - Larger cams (tomei poncams 256/264?) That would probably get you in the right direction, but then you have your internals as well, like pistons, rods, abit of head work etc. With that type of power you should also get a matching suspension (whiteline handling kit would do u wonders) and brake (brembo calipers with some dba slotted rotors?) setup to help you control your newly gained power.
  11. Do you mean you've fitted tomei poncams? or cam gears? cos they are 2 different things! cam gears change the timing and the poncam cams are the actualy camshafts - I haven't heard many people losing power from fitting larger camshafts, but I have heard many people losing power on cam gears
  12. yeah that's weird, because standard they are 7PSI, but as soon as you remove the exhaust restriction the boost bumps up alittle bit, usually stock to around 8-9psi.
  13. Get a piggyback or a full ecu to get it tuned. The same thing happened to my friend when he fitted a fmic and turbo back exhaust but with the standard ecu. He then fitted his powerfc, and on the first run it saw a massive dip in power in the 4500rpmish range to around 80rwkw with a maximum figure of 120rwkw. After the tune he gained around 80rwkw in that same 4500rpm range to around 160rwkw with a maximum output of 190 rwkw.
  14. it probably would be OK if you keep it on stock boost, but why spend the money on a turbo when you could get more out of your money from doing other things with the standard turbo?
  15. Hi guys, As title states, I'm after JUST any 3" dump pipe (split, non-split, stainless steel or not) that will bolt upto the standard R33 turbo. Please PM me anything you have as I might forget to check this thread.
  16. handbrake technique can get it closer to an auto launch, but not quite.
  17. The long awaited dyno graphs! please post your opinions. The graphs dont look anything to special, but the opinions from both tuners at those places is that they reckon there MIGHT be something tricky about the turbo. From what I know when i imported this vehicle that it was stock
  18. My friend didn't have any more money, hence no replacement of AFM.
  19. could you keep us upto date with your progress paulr33, i'd like to see what happens when you get your dump pipe done and retuned.
  20. awww no 4wd dyno ah well that's alright. but yeah, there service is top notch.
  21. Awesome, I've just purchased a MY03 WRX so they'll be able to work on the car. My friend only enquired about a larger dump if i recall correctly, but from point of view i'd like to extract as much out of the current turbo as possible, so I'd put on a split dump (if i was my friend) and some exhaust cam gears for some more midrange oomph.
  22. No it wasn't done in shootout mode unfortunately, it would've been great if my friend (pmgrz2) got a shootout mode. The power curve after 4.5k rpm shoots straight up. Nigel reckons things could get interesting if a powerfc + injectors was added into the equation.. and not to mention 1-1.1 bar of boost (possible 230-240rwkw) Also the AFM is ****ed atm too so i'll get my friend to pop in a Z32 AFM while he's at it; nigel had to adjust the tune abit because of the stuffed AFM. But we'll wait and see when we get the turbo inspected when my mate finally has cash again. Damn now i really regret selling the car. Paulr33: Yes still stock dump; and while my friend questioned about getting it changed nigel said it's probably not worth the money you spend with the gains you'll get. The top end is choking a little with it, as you can see the power curve drop off (when pmgrz2 posts the dyno); even when nigel leaned it out a little, so he then richened the top end abit again to make it safer. The AFR generally sits around 12. The midrange though is pretty good from my pov. Also what's your opinions on the exhaust cam gear; I'm a firm believer of them as i've seen alot of awesome results with them on s1 gts-t's. the midrange gain is pretty good; even upto 20rwkw i've seen in some cases (in the midrange, not the end power figure). I reckon the car would drive alot happier on the street, but most tuners that my friend has taken the car too has recommended against due to not gaining much. I'd also like to thank ICE performance on behalf of my friend for great service and tune. Absolutely top stuff and they'll definately be getting more business from my friend. Just out of curiosity, does ICE have a 4wd dyno?
  23. My friend who bought my r33 gts-t took the car in for a tune yesterday @ ICE performance (had S-AFC 2, but I never got it tuned due to loss of licence) and got 185rwkw on stock boost!, they jacked the boost upto 0.75bar and got 205rwkw. AFR's seems good sitting on 12 or there abouts. Nigel thinks the stock turbo has been modified/hiflowed because the thing is pulling awesome power for what should be a 'stock turbo'. He recommended to get the turbo checked out to see what has been done it. A very pleasant surprise! I'll get my friend to post up the dyno graph. Current mods on the car are FMIC, 3" exhaust with hiflow cat (still stock dump), pod with CAI and a EVC 4. I think it's excellent power for the what the current mods are.
  24. I think he's selling just the stock intercooler, no turbo.
  25. I'd suggest robbing a bank first THEN the jun catalog.
