  1. Going to need something great to cool it. A 35c day doing a standing still burnout - something will burn. Cheers Sumo

    Aircon

R12a is not too hard to find - Most workshops recover R12a keep it for themselves and fill the system back up with R134a and change the receiver dryer. Im not sure what its worth to buy off them - but I would say it would be expensive - as is like any A/C work you get done to your car. Cheers Sumo
  3. a remote car starter is a good way to have premature failure of your starter, Normal cheap arsed systems work off a timing circuit (hence engaged for a while after the car starts). They should also sense when the alternator is running so that they cant re-engage once the car is running. Unless you want bling, I wouldn't worry about it. Cheers Sumo
  4. Yep, The reason the Alt will read 13.9V when first started as it has to try and recharge the battery - and as the charge level of the battery rises - so does the voltage. Charge Rates are acceptable from 13.4V up to 14.5V in new cars. Common faults are like boot lights and glove box lights. But I would be more enclined to look at the possibility that the stereo may be hooked up to a constant supply - (can you manually turn it on with the keys out of the ignition?) or the alarm system has a internal fault - which can happen also. Cheers Sumo
  5. At least the yanks arent worried about fuel prices...... I mean, its bad enough they are talking about releasing the hummer here. Cheers Sumo
  6. You wont get much done for $1000. Exhaust and a decent service will absorb that
  7. Sl**s are worth it.
  8. Heh, that thick silver PVC tape they call 100mp/h tape for a reason.... Cheers Sumo
  9. you would probably get a couple of good runs out of her before she breaks
  10. The crooks need some hard love in jail.
  11. My car does this when I wash it, take it for a drive.... cleans my discs back up.
  12. Couldn't have said it better myself
  13. I took an 86 model corvette for a drive when I was at my old workshop. All I can say is that it rattled bad, and the RHD conversion was abosolutely disgraceful. Panels didnt meet, they were loose, and it just felt tacky. I would be looking for an old Mustang shell...... Thats my other dream car (other then a R34 GTR). Cheers Sumo
  14. ouch, Thats bad luck. Cheers Sumo
  15. My 33 GTST wieghed in at 1430kgs on the bridge.
  16. I would put money on it being the attessa system. Nissan wouldn't R&D a new symeterical AWD system for the lower end of their market. I scratch my head everytime someone asks how to disable the attessa system, I mean once you do - you really have a GTS with a heavy front end. One day I plan on owning my own GTR, and their is no way I would be changing the AWD system thats had millions of dollars spent in R&D on how it reacts to conditions, to adjust it to a backyarders idea of how it should perform. Cheers Sumo
  17. Well, if your towing a car you will need to install an electric brake system (with breakaway). Legally your only allowed to tow 750kg max (gross, not load) before elec braking is needed. www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi22.pdf Just from my own expirience, I much perfer a vehicle thats better built for the job, e.g. Cruiser/Patrol/small truck. The old navara we used to have would sway with a decent load on the trailer, we were out in the sticks - which is less of a danger to the motoring public, but a 15 year old flogged sports car I would feel uncomfortable in - just like those old EB/EF Falcons towing caravans that make the mudflaps scrape. Cheers Sumo
  18. doesnt the kit have instructions? The leads would be made up to specific lengths for chosen locations? Cheers Sumo

    Defects!

If you get smart with them - im sure they will go looking for something else
  20. Another thing paul, if the bushes are worn in the starter it will not cleanly disengage. I would be inclined to get it serviced. Cheers Sumo P.S. When you have the starter out look for signs of wear - like brass in the nosecone, see if you can wiggle the armature shaft.
  21. You have to be more specific with your details, when you say you hear the starter going and the car wont start - is the engine cranking or can you only here the starter spinning? Starters have a little clutch in the front of them that over time wears and will slip from time to time. If its fuel related, only thing I can think of is if the fuel pressure isnt right? Before starting it let it prime a couple of times before you start it and see if that makes a difference. Cheers Sumo
  22. I always thought Nissan Patrol wagons were slow?
