  1. Hey Nozila, as they have said an altenator is driven by the engine, a starter drives the engine Now I have seen starter motors lock in mesh (when they engage the ring gear) and what happens is they usually flare all the windings and are unrepairable if the engine continues to run with them engaged. An altenator will not cause a car to keep trying to start even after you pull your keys out of the ignition. This problem can be a multitude of things, right from the electrical switch on the back of your ignition barrel, or a problem in the starter. I have seen the copper contacts weld together in a starter motor from trying to start with very very discharged battery. Its process of elimination mate, I wish I could help you more - but I live in North West NSW - in the bush Cheers Sumo
  2. Isn't the NSX a track monster from the factory already? With a V10 things can only get better A high revving V10 would nearly make any bloke want one
  3. This nice piece of machinery has been discussed here before, but I doubt that most here have a big enough bank account to buy one new Isn't their only like 5 being built? Cheers Sumo
  4. Ignition signal would be generated by your Crank Angle sensor I think, and AT (Automatic Transmission) might have a broken wire or fault sensor in the gear box. All you can do is tow it to an electrician and ask him if he can test the CAS, Im not familiar with the CAS on the skylines, I have only tested commodores so i cannot offer you any info
  5. Sorry - Drunk last night and spinning shit. GO PARRAMATTA!!!!

  7. I gave up on this nut bag, he argues that he wants a fair and level headed discussion, but when you try and bring something that tips the plate the imports way you get thrown out as a closed minded wanker. Typical meathead.
  8. Don't worry mate, im on $320 take home. 2nd year apprent wages. Go into 3rd in Oct I manage to sustain my r33, im also paying off a block of land that is worth $45k I service every 5000kms, I do all the servicing myself. $50 for oil + $12 for a filter. $20 for pod filter cleaner, which will last me for 10 years. Cheers Sumo
  9. So this noise is being produced inside the cabin? Mate, you've just got to get under the dash and chase it I've had someone comes in "my cars making a clicking sound" Once you get them to identify the sound you just have to chase it. Last one I found was a violet crumble wrapper in the blower fan, and with Climate control the fan when turned down still just spins very slowly producing a "click click click" sound . Cheers Sumo
  10. Yep, as nitemare said - check the sparkies (or replace them as they are worth bugger all). Do your compression test at the same time, as its alot of mucking around to keep pulling it all apart - the lucky GTR owner don't have to worry about the intake manifold over the top. Whilst your doing that, check the physical condition of your coil packs. It seems to be getting more common as these cars get older that a coil pack will get a crack in it and I assume this lets moisture in which will cause a missfire. Cheers Sumo
  11. I haven't seen the skyline wiring diagram, but with most new cars you can't really trace what operates the lights on the dash as they are usually controlled by a module that controls eleventy billion different other things. On the GTR's what does the 4wd light indicate? that its engaged or that their is a fault? If you have a mate with a diagnostic tool it *may* offer some insight to what could be giving problems. Cheers Matt
  12. As everyone else does when they sign up to a SKYLINE forum, they wear the knees out in their trousers praying to read about falcons. Quote " After the release of Ford's first turbocharged car they couldn't have gone alot better." Your exactly right, its not in their capacity to do any better. I quite welcome to my opinion d!ckhead, so you can leave it or lump it - but im well within my rights as a forum user to post what I like. As for not liking my character, that is fine - it will not cut me up too badly. I like balanced discussion, but you talk shit. Sumo
  13. An illiterate troll.... I am absolutely speechless that someone can miss the point by that far. Anyone who speaks up about their bullsh!t stories gets a "closed minded wanker" statement read. How about some proof that your bucket of bolts has even run a 1/4. Sumo
  14. Hey mate, When I did my clutch, I acctually did it at an old unused nissan workshop, and they had an old spline out of a datsun gearbox laying around, fitted like a charm. Cheers Sumo
  15. Just check when you put your new battery in that the altenator is doing its job. Acceptable specification is 13.5-14.5V (This will vary depending how charged your new battery is) Cheers Sumo
  16. Mate your lucky that it didn't blow up the ECU or damage it. Melted wire usually indicates it has been overloaded, I would get a wiring diagram and just see what it controls, as a dead short should blow the fuse straight up and not go to the extent of melting the wire. You haven't being tapping into power for anything? Cheers Sumo
  17. Mate, you gotta be happy to get that result, I bet you don't want to think about what you have spent Cheers Sumo
  18. Well look out Lowndsy, here comes Falcon XR6T to put you out of a job. I don't mind reading TRUTHFUL information on other types of cars, but must your wang be that small you have to overly compensate on our forum for it? Take it elsewhere. We haven't seen any proof that your glorified horse and cart has acctually made it to the end of a 400m run yet. Sumo
  19. You come onto our forums and try and tell us a falcon is a track demon out of the box? I work on dirty old falcons and commodores everyday, and that has put a sour enough taste in my mouth to never own one. So you can go elsewhere and preach to a bunch of meatheads how good your car is.... We gave you enough string and were very diplomatic about disregarding your opinion straight up because you drive a falcon. We have commodore drivers on this forums that we can respect each other opinions. But when you start talking crap - you have lost all credibility in my books. Cheers Sumo
  20. I agree with Duncan, cleaning them wont really help you. Normally they are a Peizo Electric type sensor, they have a crystal inside - and when it gets hit it produces a signal voltage. ECU reads this - retards your timing and you lose power. Same idea with you BBQ lighters, that have a crystal that gets hit when you click the button and it produces a high voltage and you see that spark jump across the tip. Cheers Sumo
  21. 13's are quick for a street car. But we are getting faster stock cars, which raises the bar and makes people want to spend a few extra bucks to get into the next bracket to stand out. A stock GTST for arguments sake runs a 14.5, which compared to a stock 5 litre VS holden 15-16? So we have a better setup in the suspension department, a driveline thats tough as nails and an engine that responds to modification like no other. Cheers Sumo
  22. I would be more inclined to pull a negative pulse from the ignition. How the older vehicles used to do it by pulling a varying voltage from 1 phase of the altenator. I've never taken much notice where the factory tacho on my rb25 has been picked up from... Plus not having diagrams sucks. Cheers Sumo
  23. I would check out your idle control valve. Im not sure as I've never pulled one off a skyline, but on a commodore its a little stepper motor that bolts in right near the throttle body. I would clean it up and hit it with a penetrator like WD40 or something like that. Cheers Sumo
  24. Sumo

    car accident

Maybe the bloke that owns the old holden would find it hard to drive at night with no headlights, tail lights and possibly even no windows If your not going to get fixed up for the cost, you have to level the playing field a bit. Cheers Matt
