Awesome!! Glad to hear, have been following this for quite some time and can't wait to hear how it goes on the rolling and the tarmac dynos
-
Its an HKS TA45 - I believe ~650hp turbo. Quite old, I'd have thought? Good for around 650hp.
-
Nice, what are you doing there?? I spent a few weeks in Malaysia last year for work and pretty sure I saw the same car in Penang while I was up there. Was the first Skyline I saw - though I spent most of the time in JB were you were lucky to see a hot Proton.

Change From Gt2835 Turbo To Gt3037 R33 Skyline
Lithium replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
No actually I am from NZ. Dyno Dynamics DO seem like they read lower than most other dynos anyone anywhere use - the others are all in far closer proximity in terms of results than the DDs. Mustang dynos (used in the US mainly) are pretty close to DD though. Majority rules, Oz are the odd one out. Its not that Americans/everyone else have happy dynos, its that your ones are low reading - you'll find that the reason most people who can afford it who are going for hub dynos aren't doing so for the bigger numbers... if everyone measure using the same unit it becomes all comparable, the "bigger than dyno dynamics" measured numbers end up just making it like a different currency. Because of the consistancy of the use of Hub dynos around the world I can get a good idea of what to expect out of my car - people have tried every set up under the sun in the states, its just a matter of finding it. I know that my turbo on C16 on a good setup can make 550whp/410kw @ wheels on a hub dyno - and I know what 280kw @ wheels equates to roughly in the real world so I can ascertain that its going to be good if I max it out. I know that people regularly get over 450whp on pump gas with a good setup, or ~335kw @ wheels on a hub dyno - and I know that people with similar mods to me are making around 250kw @ wheels on dyno dynamics. If I were to use that to make a conservative thumb sucks I'd say the difference is at most around 12% between a DD and a hub dyno from the above comments. If that were so, 300kw @ wheels should be the normal target for a .82a/r GT3076R with a bit of head room on pump gas, or if you are going to be ruthless and put "race gas" into it and crank the boost you should be able to make 360-370kw @ wheels. Those readings would result in very happy cars -
Change From Gt2835 Turbo To Gt3037 R33 Skyline
Lithium replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I reckon this depends a lot on dyno, setup etc. What dyno were you running this one? Do you have high mount manifold/plenum/cams? How much boost? I must admit I have never seen what these will do on an RB25DET though I am most keen to try and push mine hard at some point. I have seen Hondas/Mitsis getting well over 400whp/300kw @ wheels with these on pump gas on Dynojet and Dynapack dynos and mine has made 280kw @ wheels on pump gas without even really trying. I am quite confident that I'd crack 330kw @ wheels on the turbo I have (.82a/r GT3076R) on a hub dyno with a decent manifold, cams and a decent hit of boost but the way the dynos read in Oz I'd consider a GT3582R for 330kw really - as much as anything just because a GT30R will definitely be at the high end of its capability on 330kw @ wheels whereas a GT3582R would be humming. -
Garretts Gt30/gt35 Iw Housing + Actuator Travel Concern
Lithium replied to Cubes's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I know, and that is exactly what I did. I want to run 1-1.1bar (completely stock internal RB25) and in theory its a ~1bar actuator but it lazily creeps open before it reaches 1bar, hence the problem. -
Garretts Gt30/gt35 Iw Housing + Actuator Travel Concern
Lithium replied to Cubes's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Nice. With the AVCR I cannot use 100% duty, and it always creeps open - it effectively makes it take its time to 1bar and is really annoying. It gets to 11psi fairly acceptably and does climb a crapload faster than without the AVCR on, but still. Would an HKS actuator or something like that help, maybe? -
Garretts Gt30/gt35 Iw Housing + Actuator Travel Concern
Lithium replied to Cubes's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hmm I never checked over mine that closely. Something that has been bothering me is a strange habit my car has - the wastegate opens at ~11psi no matter what. Boost will build sharply until it reaches 11psi, then it acts like the flap has cracked open slightly then boost will build until it reaches the preset amount I am after. An electronic or manual boost controller does not seem to fix this - it only affects what happens afterwards. If I wind up any more preload on the actuator to alleviate this, it will boost creep past 15psi - it kind of puts me in a rock or a hard place. I will have a proper look at how everything is lined up tomorrow, perhaps I am getting the same thing but my car may be more subject to boost creep. -
Yeah its pretty shit here for getting parts, my turbo, injectors etc had to be ordered from overseas - if I ordered them through a shop then it would have taken the same effort and amount of time but a bit more money. Not for everything of course, but its not necessarily the easiest. Being one of the more remote countries in the world with a small population basically means its not worth stocking up heavily on parts. Clutches I *can* get pretty easily and cheaply so the way I see it, if it breaks I can decide whether to get a single or a twin plate. Thanks heaps for your help - good having people who have been there done that!
-
LOL yeah I know its tyres (its that in NZ too), I'm not always too sure about how you do things in Oz and get used to using tires on overseas forums. Wanna chup brue? In terms of decent single plate mine has been holding on fine for ages, I don't think I'd worry about getting a clutch until I reach that point - there are plenty decent one available. The 280kw may not be the same as 280kw on the dynos you are used to, may be closer to 250kw at a guess - whatever a .82a/r GT30R running around 15psi on a stock RB25 would make normally. 2Rismo - thanks for that. Where did the reference to Greenlane speed shop come from? Do you have reason to think they stock Mickey Thompsons?
-
You can easily spend >$1kNZ on a pair of tires like that. The local shops I have spoken to don't supply them, a couple have indicated they can try and sort it out but the cost would basically be them buying from an overseas company and charging me for everything + their cut. I've only ever seen one set of drag radials used here too, most people go the DOT slicks at around 26x10.5x16 which would be a bit more than what I would think I'd need? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-169832480.htm Also, will I need to upgrade from my heavy duty single plate clutch to a twin plate for 255x50x16 MTs to not destroy the poor thing?
-
Cheers! Thanks, that was my initial preferred option but for some reason people warded me off them - but I trust you guys more Can you get them for a decent price, 2rismo? I am NZ based at the moment and they're not easy/cost effective to buy here. At the moment my best option looks like this: http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.as...k=KeywordSearch

Gahh I clearly didn't make the search work right. The times I did it I only found things like "MickyT ET Streets" or the such. Thanks man

Guilt-toy Runs 11.3sec At 130 Mph

Nice pics Seeing the wheels/tires inspired me to start a new thread, if you have any input it would be appreciated! http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ti...5t-t231307.html -
Thanks for the input Just to clarify, are you aware there are two different "ET Street" drag tire types from MT? One is the DOT dated bias ply "ET Streets" and then the stere are the "street legal" ET Street Radials. Given you have provided a "255/..." type measurement I could assume you could mean the 255/50/16 ET Street Radials? Please appreciate that I want to make sure I am hearing it from someone who isn't just regurgitating what they have heard or read half paying attention somewhere along the line - I know people who have bought tires from advise given by someone just blurting out specs like that and have ended up worse off for it and would like to be sure I am getting the right thing.

Hi all When I finally got my car out to the drags at the end of last season here with a few gremlins still bugging me - the car only managed a 13.3 @ 112mph. At the time, there were other issues anyway so I didn't bother with addressing the lack of grip part of the whole thing but now I have the others all sorted and drag season is coming again The car realistically should be running at least a couple more mph next time I race but the 112mph bit should give a rough idea of the power level I am making. What tires running similar power levels are people using? I have looked around a bit and in my searchings so far on here people have been very unspecific about tires they have used to achieve times. I am looking at Hoosier Quick Time Pro DOT 26/9.5/16s and maybe to put on stock R33 GTS25t rims at this stage. Has anyone tried these, or have any other combinations they'd recommend? What kind of improvement have you had from going from normal road tires?

Yeah there is a thread similar to this on the NZ Nissan Silvia forum - there is a guy who must run on the highest reading dyno in the world. We have higher reading dynos than you guys in Oz on average by the sounds, but thats less to do with ours reading "high" than your Dyno Dynamics reading lower than virtually every other make of dyno. NZSilvia thread for lols: http://nissansilvia.co.nz/nuke/modules.php...p=339978#339978

215rwkw with a stock RB25, stock turbo, but front mount and ECU and a bit more boost is completely believeable - I have seen it many times myself. Depends on the dyno though, if its one of those low reading ones that some Oz workshops seem to have then I can imagine 200rwkw being a bit harder to break. I have heard someone claim >260rwkw on a stock turbo, THAT is a happy dyno.

If ITS is anything like Garrett, a T66 is bigger than a GT35R - so you will be downgrading if you went to a GT35R. A Garrett T04Z will fit in that location though I wouldn't be too sure a GT40R would.

How To Tell A S1 & A S2 Rb25 Turbo Apart
Lithium replied to the big JC's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
To tell if you have an S1 or S2 RB25 turbo is pretty easy if its off the car- the S1 has a twin-fin "alloy" compressor wheel whereas the S2 has a black plasticy feeling single fin looking setup. You'd know if you saw it. -
Is There A New Worlds Fastest Low Mount Gtr?
Lithium replied to Beer Baron's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
LOL Thats right, that was amusing - I think he could be blamed for making that up now that I think about it. I guess its nice to think you've done something better than everyone else with a similar kind of setup. -

Lithium replied to Beer Baron's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Awesome congrats! Great to see a track car doing it on the 1/4 too. Yeah I don't see a "bloody kiwi" cutting it either, I think "Drag GTR" is about as made up class specific as most are really bothered in going for. I get rumour that the Japanese are starting to rediscover the fun that is drag racing, I reckon the M-Speed GTR could be a serious contender to it if they took that down the 1/4. Also in regards to the 800ps claim, the video on Ignition I saw looked like it had two figures, one which was under 700ps and one which was ~800ps - I assumed that the 800ps was a "corrected figure" to estimate engine ps though I could be completely wrong. -

Excellent - yeah really illustrates how matching a turbo spec and engine spec matters. Look forward to seeing how it goes with the T51R -
