  1. im not sure exactly what running out of puff means? do you mean power drop off at the top end? Im yet to drive it, will find out tomorrow. the dyno chart peaks kinda early in my opinion. It looks like it makes the peak power at 149km/hr, then the power line goes flat?! what gear do they do the run in? It must be 4th as the line goes to 170km/hr? my old dyno sheet with the stock turbo done at RPM was done in third gear. Does the gear effect the power reading? I would have thought they would all be done in the same gear.
  2. i would think it would help keep it cool
  3. btw the exact power figure is 227.5kw Steve, im sure the 9.0:1 comp ratio would love some more boost! Ill prob keep the boost to 1bar unless i need it, i dont know how long it will like running 1.2bar for before something goes! Am i more likely to do the ring lands in? or does it come down to the tune?
  4. the turbo new is around 4 grand?? i got mine for $1800 with less than 2000kms on it which i was skeptical of until i saw/inspected it. it is a straight bolt on if you have the correct T3 flange on it. We had to have some braided lines made up but thats it. you also need a 90degree elbow to point the compressor outlet in the right direction, which came with the turbo. WTF is with the file upload on here? after i click add file, the box goes blank and nothing happens?!
  5. there is a pic of what you want in the mag, but i dont have a scanner here.. HPI No 18 has a blue supra on the cover.
  6. its a valve on your cam cover that lets pressure out (usually containing some oil vapours)- normally it connects back to the inlet, but a catch can fixes this. PCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation.
  7. I think they are usually mounted in tank (mine is in tank), unless you have a fancy setup with 2 or 3 044's. There is a full tech feature of how to install an 044 pump into a 33's tank in HPI issue 18! Basically it says: purchase a barbed hose fitting before installation, as the 044 has a threaded screw fitting bfore the pump, not a hose clamp deal like the stockie. Pull the stockie out and unscrew from bracket. never fit a pump without the factory strainer. Its essential to keep the length of the pickup line to the strainer the same. 044 wont fit into the std bracket, use hose clamps to hold it in. The stock wiring wont mate up- power and earth eyelets are too small --> replace with larger ones. Then apparently its a simple job of putting the whole assembly back into the tank as before. --> on dyno for some fuel presure testing. thats the jist of it!
  8. Hi all, well its finally done, the turbo was put on last night and morpowa has just finished tuning it. The car made 230rwkw at 17psi (~1.2bar), in a 32 degree dyno cell. They tell me that for the ambient temperature, thats pretty good power. They were also surprised to hear that im running a standard dump pipe! Specs of the car: bosch 044 fuel pump extreme single plate clutch Hybrid FMIC Tomei fuel pressure reg with standard injectors Turbosmart E-boost controller Power FC HKS GT2530 Standard cast dump with 3 inch exhaust I am yet to see the dyno sheets as im still in Sydney, but ill try to post them up this weekend. Im told it drives awesome, spinning easily all the way through 2nd up to 3rd, whereas with the old turbo and 200rwkw it would only just spin in second if you dumped into it hard. So im pretty happy with the result!
  9. siksII, i might sell my T3 turbosmart, as i want an apexi twin chamber!
  10. gee that sounds cheap for a brand new stock bov, thats sounds like a good option, thanks. So your talking any nissan parts department?
  11. sweet, yeah i heard today i can just fill out a form, they dont even need to see it.. thanks dude
  12. finally pulled off my stock turbo, the car has 65,000kms on it, not that i trust import odometers, but i was quite surprised at the condition of this turbo, there is zero side-side play of the shaft, and normal back and forth play (same amount of play as my new HKS 2530) if its any indication the car was imported totally stock apart from a set of 17s, the first Aus owner had it for a year, not a daily car, and ran it on 10lbs via bleed. I then ran it for less than 6 months with a tuned ecu on 12lb. pics this weekend, asking $650 as i know you guys will offer less, but no silly offers please prefer adelaide or sydney buyer.
  13. Considering a Stock BOV to make myself a little less defectable, just wondering whats the going rate for these and if anyone knows a good source? thanks guys
  14. hi all, ive just changed the colour of my car, and if cops do a rego check and see a different colour to what their computer says, they may suspect a plate swap and pull me over. my question is, has anyone resprayed their car and then got it changed on the rego details? Im only worried that if i have to go to regency to get someone to confirm the colour, they are gonna take one look at it and go "better bring it in for a full inspection!" Hearing about all the SA defect horror stories has got me worried to even drive my car in Adelaide! thanks for any info
  15. yes myself and my brother are putting them in (i watch ) It depends on how much you are lowering it, i think if its any significant amount then it would pay to have the alignment checked. Ill let you know how they go!
  16. gonna throw pics up in general section... for some reason i cant upload files.
  17. hippy! we made it buddy! we made it!!!!! you want to drop by my place this weekend and have a look!?
  18. perhaps i will start a thread posting my 33 makeover pics... im over the moon, the paint is PERFECT, the colour is UNIQUE! (sure there are many oranges, but none exactly likemine!) who would like to see some pics of the transformation?!
  19. haha thats funny N/A@ but seriously did he pay to get his car looking like that? I mean i understand if it was already like that... Nothing personal to the owner btw, just think there are impprovements that could be made on your car.
  20. Its MINE! My car was picked up today!!!! btw it has GTR front, 400R rear and sides. And it looks absolutely awesome!!! and btw your s15 slo dude!
  21. ok will try my best to get some up this weekend.
  22. I have a set of Tein HA height and damper adjustable coilovers purchased from D1 garage in adelaide about 6 months ago, and the car has been sitting at the workshop for this entire time, ive probably done under 100kms travel on them to and from the workshop only. They are in excellent condition, with perfect seals, and they look very smart. (i will post pics when i return to adelaide early next week.) originally $1450 used from D1, im looking for around $1300. reason for sale is that being from D1 garage they are off a drift car, and the springs are the typical Tein 'very firm'. Springs can be made up in any rate you like however. I am returning to my lowered progressive rate king springs and just bought a set of bilstein shocks for comfort reasons! These teins eliminate body roll even without uprated sway bars, but i like my comfort and dont like the ride on bumpy roads. Other things to note: all corners come with the soft helper springs, these shocks make no noise, bumps/knocks etc, 16 shock settings (OE to super hard, but the OE setting will only be felt if you use softer springs), pretty much infinite height adjustability. I think ive covered everything you guys may want to know..! Would prefer adelaide or sydney buyer.
  23. Abo Bob, i did a fair bit of reading and research before buying my bilsteins, and the sport shocks are described as 'firm', but also something bilstein describe as 'self-adjusting', and work well with the progressive rate springs, and maintain a certain amount of comfort at the same time. I also looked at KYB shocks as used in HPI's R34, the externally adjustable ones, and the bilsteins are meant to be better for the money, and apparently you dont need the adjustability in a street setup for these shocks with std/upgraded springs.
  24. again sydneykid comes thru with the goods! I actually just bought a set of these bilsteins, SPORT model, as sold by UAS, and cost me easily under a grand. I think they sell them for 920$ a set but i got them a bit cheaper. As for the springs, im running Kings lows (progressive rate rears) and Kings quote them as 180lb fronts and 175lb rears, and i had them spring tested just to confirm. I also tested my std springs for comparison and i think they were around the 140lb mark, so the kings are about 25% firmer. Before i ordered the bilsteins i spoke to the aus distributor for bilsteins and the guy was happy when i said i was using kings springs, and that they would be an excellent match. Blind elk, 280lb in your kings is higher than the usual for them, did you have them custom made at that rate? As for street that is very firm. Also 430lb springs is VERY firm, too firm for street unless you like drift style- the teins in my car at the moment are over 400lb and unless the road is good, its very bumpy. UAS recommend UP TO 400lb springs for their 300zx track car. -i pick my shocks up tomorrow, when i get them in ill put up a review.
  25. cmon shane, put in abit of effort and at least read the opening post. "what color is it?" --> NEVER PAINTED OR PUT ON THE CAR
