Booked our tickets up to WTAC today. What class are you running in Russ? I see you don't want one but I have a 32 GTR cooler lying around you can borrow if need be. Have you tested one out yet?

Well at least you can always fall back on a life in the circus as a contortionist Ant You are right though - in the 32 with standard seats I am able to reach (around?) to that spot. Not sure after adding a proper harness or seat though. Need to do a few proper drills in the 34. It has one to the rear of the center console and one under the front of the passengers seat.

Some more progress. Mick was almost finished cleaning up the underneath when I dropped in. The rails had the usual distortions from years of jacking / hoists, these were pulled back out, cleaned prepped and zinc primered, and for the fronts a 1.5mm plate tacked over the top. Holes will be drilled where the factory ones are to make sure they still drain water correctly. The car had been jacked up from the rail rears as well instead of the diff, so these were pretty ugly but looking perfect again now. The sill panel seams and roadside tyre change jacking point that was buckled in have also been completely repaired. As of Friday night it should all be sitting in chip coat now!! Going to get a good bake first before it comes back down off the rotisserie just to really make sure everything is dried out, then work on the interior and panels will begin. I have decided I am still going to get this thing screwed back together properly and then see from there if I can afford to keep it, don't know how I could possibly sell it though. Some photos:

Nah was untimed today. I am just going off my VBox GPS and getting the poor missus to sit and time me on the iphone as I go past. She was pretty good - GPS had 24.48... and I am gonna take those extra two hundredths hehe. The VBox software rocks! Even tries to work out what track you have been at and auto sets start/finish and sectors. Heres a vid. Will need to try Johns advice and carry a bit more speed through the back straight kink - man he caught me quickly through there. I think it might have been the same lap cos I looked in the rear view when he was behind me.

Great meeting you guys. John thanks for your help with tyre pressures, have my head around it all now and can see the huge difference it makes if you dont get it right. I ended up with a 1:24.5 in that last session with a bit a traffic so pretty bloody happy with that! Can't wait to see what this thing will do with a bit more experience and some fresh tyres. Will chuck up a vid.

Serves you right for trying to CHEAT! How you finding the driving position in the Evo as a giant Jack? I guess you can probably sit a bit further back than me, but that would put the steering wheel even further out of reach. Also the pedals are all wrong, I find my heel hits either the carpet or my toes are on the pedal stem. The dash is also a problem, its so chunky and goes down so low. God I am happy to have a working skyline again - slotted straight back in.

Nice meeting you too Russ, and big thanks to you and Campbell for helping me out with tire pressures and gear. Excellent day here too, great intro to track work. Started off pretty slowly to get a feel for the car, by the third session was blasting around passing everything. Fourth session I really started to make some ground and finished with a 2:02 including a little traffic. Still plenty of time to be made up but in due course. Pretty happy with that for a first outing. Also seeing I didn't sleep Friday night can't have helped my cause.. accomodation a must next time. Would have posted a vid but the plug for the front facing cam popped out in the first session and I didn't check it all day

CAMS licence just turned up so we are going to head down... weather not looking great but I have to get out there.

The standard 34 look has started to soften on me but the z-tune kits completely revive it. Looks brilliant - good call.

Back before I turned into a lazy bastard, one thing that really helped me start stacking on the muscle was having a multi staged release WPI shake before bed. You getting up every night and having a shake at 2am would have a similar effect, but this is much easier! I used to get the PVL Glycer Pro - white chocolate. Just a small amount of water or milk with a stick blender and it turns into the consistency of yoghurt, and you can slam it down without getting too full before bed. Just had a quick search around - not sure if the Glycer Pro is still available but there are other things like it.

Well CAMS charged my card yesterday so hopefully licence is en-route. If that arrives today / tomorrow and I can enter in time I will be there Saturday. Definitely worth switching over to a fresh set yeah - those ones on the 9.5's wouldn't be up to the task would they? Or even just choose the best 4 of the used ones?

Yep I believe those spring rates you have quoted are correct based on the Eibach catalogue. Cant confirm length and diameter - but sounds feasible. I spoke with Chris @ Racepace about the spring rates on these on the weekend - his exact word were "you wouldn't want to go harder than 4kg in the rear". This is to help it all hook up and put the power down in the rear.

Lol funny that you say that Aaron! Have been discussing with an interested party what they are are worth over the price of standard RA's - seeing standard RA's go for ~$2k mark. Appreciate the feedback. Hope they dont think I put you up to it!
