Good Score On Laptop With A Serial Port .
paulR32gtr replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Have you tried opening it up and pushing the screen connector back in? I had the same problem with my old D820, thought it was a goner but that connector had just walked a little loose -
Fs: Racepace Built R33 Gtr (Silver)

If only I had a spare $37k lying around this would round out my collection perfectly! Worth every penny. -
Awesome, this thread, is

It has been put on slow-mo for now. Bought Snowy's white 34 so getting out and about in that at the moment, entered in Targa High Country and Targa Tas next year so funds are all aimed at that at the moment. It is however going back together an intended, with the Racepace motor and GT-SS turbos. It will be my tribute to the car that I love so much, and I will get it out to track days where there is minimal risk of damaging it's pristine state! As much as I would love to drive it in a Targa event, it's kind of a better outcome 1) because it is going to be another one of Mick's works of art once finished that I couldn't bear to scratch, and 2) I can have some freedom with it from rules to do some crazy stuff down the track.. thinking v-cam, maybe some of these newer gen turbos coming through and possibly a larger capacity motor for an absolute response monster. Should be in paint by the end of the year I would say, and Mick has kindly allowed me to re-assemble as much of it as I can at his shop once his bit is done.

Yes I thought it sounded a bit far fetched. But its from a trusted source that actually sand blasted several of the plenums and all the cars ended up with high idles, since then only paint strip them and no more problems. It may just be a coincidence... and maybe the throttles were having the sealant removed as well... but just something I had heard was interested to see if his plenum was stripped.
-
Ok sounds an unlikely cause then. I have been told that sand blasting *could* lead to the plenum becoming slightly pourous, resulting in a high idle.
-
Sounds feasible that the throttles are the cause. One other cause I have heard of - has the paint been stripped off the plenum at some point? If so how was it done - blasting per chance?

Located in VIC, I have for sale: - 4 x Brand new never used TE37SL in 18x9.5 +22 offset - Wrapped in brand new never used Yokohama A050 265/35 rubber - Comes with two sets of valves, one set metal caps suitable for the track as fitted by Traction Tyres, and an unused RAYS metal set that come with the wheels new never fitted - Original boxes and shower caps for the wheels Perfect for GTR's. I bought these from Import Monster for my R32 GTR project which has been delayed. I was intending on painting these black but I have since acquired a set of black TE37's in the same size that have been used for motorsport already, so there is no point for me to wreck these perfect condition wheels. They have never been fitted to a car! Mick @ Micolour used one of them to measure spacing while rolling / lipping the guards on my shell. Wheels cost me $3,300 and the tyres cost me $2,276 fitted and balanced, total $5,576. Selling for $5,100 firm, so save yourself near $500 and any running around if thinking of buying this combo.

In that case I think I might do this as well as the 24th.

Agreed. What you are saying makes perfect sense. So there you go guys - one less thing to worry about.
-
Yeah dunno. Just going off what I have seen at the limited number of events I have been to so far. Everyone seems to have an additional tie strap for their bonnets unless they have pins. I guess most people interpret "two separate fastening systems" as they need to add something.
-
Regs say you need to have your CAMS officials licence as you might need to do flags??
-
Oh yeah - and join a CAMS affiliated club - i.e. SAU for your state!
-
Get an L2S (Level 2 Speed) licence from CAMS. This will allow you to enter club track days. Each track day has a document called the supplementary regulations. Read these to make sure your car complies. Pretty sure your 8-point cage will be fine, you just need a fire extinguisher that meets the regulations for size, type and the way it is fixed to the car, a compliant helmet, and clothing as per the regs. EDIT: You also need an additional fastening system for your bonnet. If you don't want to cut your bonnet for bonnet pins, you get get a tie down strap. Heres an example of the supp regs for the upcoming PIARC weekend: http://www.piarc.com.au/files/PIARC_SUPERSPRINT_Supp_Regs_oct_2011.pdf Now choose a track you want to try out. From my limited experience, for Victorians I think the PIARC Phillip Island weekends are the best. The Saturday is devoted to driver training and familiarisation. You will get a first timers briefing to take you over the day, what the flags mean etc. Ask questions if anything is not clear like where do I go when you call my group? They tend to skip over this important detail! They always have a good number of instructors there for the first timers that will take groups of you around slowly in their cars first before the day gets underway. Then you can get them to drive and instruct you in your car for your sessions. PI is also a very smooth and clean track with lots of space. Find an equivalent day at a good track in your state if not in Vic. Also make sure your car is up to the task as much as you can. If it pops oil all over the track it won't only ruin your day but everyone else's as they clean up the track.

Yeah mine was always all over the place... would go high, drop to zero, just above zero, halfway, high again. Seemed to drop to zero as you would pull up to the lights a lot. Crapped my dacks a few times at first but then just got used to ignoring it. Why Nissan would do that to their customers is beyond me! In other news... I have entered the dirty old 34 into THC this week. CAMS log book is en-route. -

Story goes Steve imported it, complied and registered it. Then we started pulling it apart about 6 weeks out from Targa. We changed the turbo's over to newer ball bearing -7's, so had a chance to have a good look in there. It just looked like it had been apart before. It has Nismo (550cc I think) injectors, the lag master Nismo turbos were on it. But it was at stock boost and stock computer. It just kinda looked like it had been heavily modified before, then set back to stock and sold... just a hunch. But would not surprise me if the motor had been rebuilt back in Japan at some point. Anyhow! NEVER NEVER trust the stock oil pressure guage!! They are not even accurate when they are working. Get an oil sandwich plate on, and say a Defi oil pressure guage which comes with a sensor. Re: my engine - I am putting the 32 back together after all as my freedom from rules track bitch -

Richard I think you might have the wrong Mark. Pretty sure this is the one my mate imported and we punted around in Targa 2008. That engine has survived 1 full Targa Tas already! Mark I wouldn't be surprised if that motor has been rebuilt already at some stage. Could be a few surprises inside,, it had r32 nismo turbos on it. How are you measuring the oil pressure? Not with the stock guage I hope - they are notorious for faulty sensors.
