wonder what PIVO2 goes round the the ring in...

sound just started

guys change the date on your computer to one week from today and go to gtrnissan.com - you should see a live feed from Tokyo!
-
Make sure you mount the solenoid close to the turbo(s). I put mine where the existing gtr factory solenoid was - and the response to the solenoid is not that great - closer to the turbos the better.

Seems to have a lot to do with the kind of oil in there. Lightweight shockproof, for me at least, locks the diff completely when at full steering lock. The poor little inside rear wheel is trying to turn at the same speed as the outside - pretty much stopping the car from moving. I never had the problem with Redline 80W140 gear oil so im going to switch it back today and see how it goes.
-
Yeah that's kinda what it is like - locks up all the time. Same kind of noise you get when high speed cornering and the diff is doing its thing. Racepace did the work so I assume they know what it going on seeing they would stare at these diff's all day every day. I took it out there with a fair bit of Redline lightweight shockproof for the gearbox - maybe they put it in the r.diff as well. I had redline 80w140 hp gear oil in there before which seemed to work well - no such probs. Might change it over and see how it goes. Thanks.

Had a search around but couldn't find anything similar. r32 gtr - recently had all fluids replaced in rear diff, gearbox and transfer case. When I picked it up I noticed it was making a low, almost exhaust sounding noise when cornering at low speeds. Now at very low speeds on full lock, the car shudders almost to a halt and really resists. It does it somewhat at regular speeds as well - you can hear it. The less steering angle, the less resistance - and it does not give any problems in a straight line. Feels to me like somewhere between gearbox and rear diff - but too hard to tell. I jumped under and checked drive shaft bolts etc but could not see anything obvious. Any ideas?

Will do - gotta take it in for something else this week so was going to take the list in and pick his brain then.

cool thanks for the info all Pity I need to upgrade the fuel system but them's the breaks - want to do this properly and all at once. Gives me a good excuse to get rid of the leaky factory injectors anyhow. So im adding - Nismo fuel pump - 2 x Nismo AFM's - 700cc SARD injectors - Trust PEII cat back and ill sort out a cat over here Now I just gotta get it past management and i'm away - too easy

what did you do about the ..ahem.. catalyzer? I'm a hippy that drives a gtr

any takers?

not that I know of - stuck with kg/cm2 unfortunately - you get used to it after a while!

Hey all, I'm building a list of items to fit in one go to my R32 GTR. List so far is: - HKS GT-SS Turbo Kit - Trust - Greddy - Extension Front Pipe - APEXi - Power FC & Hand Controller - HKS - Cam Pulley - Duralumin intake and exhaust - Power Enterprise - Super Strong Timing Belt Already on: - APEXi AVC-R boost control - APEXi super happy power intake My queries: 1. Injectors / boost level - Not sure how much boost to run as yet I guess racepace will have a good recommendation - however - what are others running with these turbos and are the stock GTR injectors up to the task? 2. Exhaust - Does anyone have the trust front pipes and what did they use for the rest of the system? how is it? I need: a) a high flow cat and b) rest of exhaust that will bolt up - I don't want to muck around with getting flanges changed etc I much prefer the thing being quiet as well - which does not seem to agree with the jap exhaust market Recommendations peeps!!

Hey Duncan - after one of these Attessa controllers for r32 gtr if it makes a diff. Can't seem to PM you for some reason.

Thanks for that - turns out the R32 GTS-t coupe is the exact same part which figures - from Nissanspares in Brooklyn - much easier to come by.. $80 fix!! Some other guy up in thomastown wanted $220 beacuse it came out of a GTR.... they love those three letters. Not enough grease in the one I pulled out and filled with grime and sand etc - gave the replacement a good clean and some fresh grease and it's all working heaps better now - much smoother.

Well lucky me.. my drivers side power window cable snapped. Anyone got any pointers on whom to go too to get a new cable made up instead of replacing the entire regulator assembly - or a good import wrecker in Melbourne dealing with R32 GTRs? Nissan can get me the entire regulator assembly for $285 odd, plus a 2 week MINIMUM wait order from Japan. Kind of hard to take this option when everything else is still good, plus I would'nt mind being able to drive my car places soon...

I remember hearing something a while back in relation to a patent Cosworth has on a Zircon Sand based casting process - they were going to use it in manufacuring the new GT-R powerplant - could have had some bearing on it. I think the moulds are made with ZS which ultimately results in the ability to achieve much tighter tolerances...

Cool thanks guys. I haven't jumped under the car yet but how easy is it to get to?
-
ta - will give that a shot - starting to do it every time now...

Having a problem with my R32 GTR of late. Only on first cold start for the day - starts as usual straight away but continues with a grinding noise for half a second or so. Kind of sounds like the starter motor is overrunning - like turning the key when its running. Does not happen after that at all only on first cold start. Any ideas what might cause this? -- I would hate for it to start ripping teeth off the ring gear.
-
Thanks all - very helpful information. Unfortunately, regardless of the number of times I thought about it, I didnt write that damn number on the key down. Can see it in my mind... 5788.. 5978.. lol.. useless Everyone take this chance to organise your backups -- I was blase about the whole thing, "I am so good with my keys", "I never loose sh$t" -- one seriously heavy night out and I pretty much lost everything (well.. someone definately took it all, but I was not being careful). Have a couple of blanks on the way from UAS -- will do as KeyMakeR33 said and get them to read the cuts and cut to code on a cheapie then cut my goodies -- then ill be able to actually get into my boot again !! Cheeeeers!

Lost my freaking original R32 GTR key on the weekend (ahh the perils of clubs that don't close). I have spares but they were cut badly and only seem to work in the ignition, and badly at that. Does anybody over in Japan know if Nissan can supply the original ready-cut keys (not just blanks) for a car that old ('89)? I have a mate in Okinawa that I can get to receive it and send on.. but just wonderin. Spose otherwise I just have to get another blank and get a locksmith to cut it??
