  1. I wonder what Cliff is up to now..... running a muck on the mean streets of Lisboa I am guessing, he did learn from the best on that trip. I still have a bit to do looking forward to getting back working on it. I am just going to hook up the Defi guages I have for monitoring for now - its a bit street racer but hey it tells me when things are good / bad and the buzzers will get my attention. Also need to sort brakes out, finish off a few things, and have also somewhat overlooked managing heat so want to do some stuff with that. I was quite tempted by an S6 RX7 roller that came up recently, not sure why but always loved the look of those things.
  2. Word is the tune is finished. Some of the near 25 year old coil packs didn't make the cut so a set of split fires have gone in. Best bit is it was happily making 336/337/338 rwkw which Chris reckons you don't see often with gt-ss on 98, been wound back a bit to 330rwkw @20psi - very happy with that! Should be picking her up tomorrow arvo.
  3. Does the wing have bolts in the uprights or do you need to use the factory rust?
  4. No rear strut brace but the cage should make up for it the rear legs pick up on the wheel wells. I have been told they have little effect on the rear anyway.
  5. Rattling noise sorted, seems it was the lower timing cover, pulled apart and put back together and noise gone. Tuning should be mid next week.
  6. You wrote "the" too many times. the sphincter of the universe
  7. Yeah I was looking at the Links, need to have a chat with my tuner about the Haltech's as they are another option.
  8. It's using a PowerFC which runs everything well. I do want a racepak iq3 dash as a silver bullet for engine monitoring, shift lights, logging etc which won't work with it. Might be able to direct wire it but not a nice neat solution. Engine monitoring is high on the agenda at the moment. Cheers me too!
  9. I can see Leon fitting in on the streets of the sphincter of the universe at the moment with that shot Edit: haha forgot about that - streets of T U R K E Y, streets of TURK3Y
  10. Believe me - bald old semi's are definitely not suited to the wet no matter what kind of car it is. In the dry however ... definitely willing to concede there.
  11. Bonkers amount of grip in the wet in that Mini ... I couldn't believe it - was like driving in the dry, but it was not dry it was wet. WET CHEATER CAR WET CHEATER CAR! (Wish you went with your first edit now? )
  12. ... and there is no way around it - cleaning it up afterwards takes ages - carby cleaner works the best I have found - about 10 cans of it. Not sure about long term health effects though! Otherwise just do what you can and paint over the rest.
  13. Try BOC gases for dry ice. It's definitely the easiest way for the majority, have tried a heat gun and it gets really messy. Some of the pads are made of something different like the ones either side of your gear stick in the pic. The dry ice doesn't work on those. If you can get your hands on a power chisel it will get the other stuff off no sweat. Once trick for a good job is if the dry ice is frozen and not coming off with gentle persuasion, there is usually some glue / sealer in there. Go for the power chisel on those spots rather than going nuts with a hammer trying to crack it.
  14. Yeah great event guys ... love coming to a place where Bec can beat me by 6 seconds in a BMW on the skid pan, and have my masculinity challenged by my wife. Yeah real nice work guys ... No really - thanks to all the organisers and volunteers - it's been an eye opener to get some insight into how much work goes into putting these events on. I was rather rough after several consecutive evenings of booze hounding. My highlight was NOT loosing it over the crest on the long wang.
  15. Nah it's something around the belts - I have my suspicions I may have left one of the bolts for either the p/s pump or alternator belt tensioner loose. But I left it with them ... I know it's a little annoying having customers hovering over you while trying to work something out.
  16. Relatively pain free start up - something going on with the fuel pump wiring, but otherwise - she runs! Quick vid of the exhaust at the end.
  17. Ha trust you to notice that. I fit it once there - not perfect but enough to make Chris's life a little more comfortable rather than sitting on the floor!
  18. Off to Racepace for a check over, fluids, start up then tuning. Should be ready to go around lunch time tomorrow - looking forward to seeing it fire up to put it mildly. Nice seeing it out in the light as well and not cooped up in a corner! Wheels have been swapped for the 9.5 wides - will get onto getting them re-painted in the next few weeks. Also need to get all the clips or whatever to put the side skirts back on.
  19. Yep good for those with a car that goes, stops and turns like cars are supposed to!
  20. Mark Ryan is a legend just wanted everyone to know that
  21. The 34 setup makes the most sense seeing I have hats and caliper mounts to replicate - however given the v8's have changed rotor size I am having a think. I stocked up on ex v8 rotors so I have 4 spare pairs. I guess I can always go new however but somewhat defeats the purpose. I need to have a look at those special ones you have there again now I am ready to talk brakes, and work out what you want for them and weigh that in. Chat next week unless you come up to DECA.
  22. It's the same seal front and back - sits down in and forms a channel. The urethane holding the window in is what really stops and channels the water down the pillars. You can see here at the corners how it doesn't work - it's only cosmetic, and the other aftermarket seal options sit up over the whole thing. Going to try nicking it with a knife on the front and see if it sits ok, if ok I will do the back as well. You can see the urethane sitting behind. I would probably go the factory seal my time again - but this being a track car I will no doubt have the opportunity to change the windscreen soon enough! I do have the same seal on my 34 and it works fine, the corner isn't as hard, but I also think it would help to bunch the seal up a bit around the corners so it wrinkes on the glass (as per my 34), but doesn't leave a gap.
  23. Haha it wasn't me - just some random google image search - I only wear sandals
