Buying An R35 While Working In The Us
paulR32gtr replied to JimmyRickard's topic in General Automotive Discussion
But who is going to finish the Calsonic R32 replica? -
I am chasing some stock front calipers + rotors + pads + lines if anyone knows of any - preferably in Melbourne. Just as a temporary solution, rotors can be at limit and pads almost gone, just no caliper / line leaks.
-
So the engine bay is DONE! Nismo AFM's in, intake re-assembled, air box sticker charged and intake ducting cable tied down. Also picked up some rebuilt stocky rear brakes in great nic And pulled out my mad photoshop skills to confirm that in fact yes, as Anthony put it - black TE's will look tits. Particularly when filled with rotor and AP goodness. Borrowed an 18x10 rotor TE copy toying with the idea of grabbing them as a spare set for slicks but still a bit undecided - I don't think my guards are pumped quite enough.

Nismo Afm Won't Work On My R33 Gtr =(
paulR32gtr replied to andy95'R33GTR's topic in General Automotive Discussion
If you have a PFC, you set it to the type of AFM's you are using - the Nismo's use the Z32 / VG30DETT (300zx) setting as they essentially use the guts of a Z32 AFM, in the body of an RB26 AFM. Nistune or PowerFC being better / worse, there is no right answer. It really comes down to how well the car is tuned - so you want to go with a reputable tuner, tuning the ECU they are most comfortable with. -
Antz 1994 R32 Gtr Project & Restoration

Geez that is terrible sorry to hear that - how frustrating. At least the car is still there but having to wait to collect all those parts again. Scumbags! -
Oh ... I just went home and ordered a set of them - they are on their way to me as we speak ... you will no longer be a unique snowflake. (just joking, getting TE's )

Just from autobarn in the performance display case section. TFI racing products is the brand I think.

Apexi PowerFC normal version (not djetro). But you would need to get it tuned by someone that knows them. The Apexi Commander is just the hand controller for the Apexi PowerFC ECU. The djetro version deletes the air flow meters and uses a thing called a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor instead. They will work with most other aftermarket ECU's as well. -
Antz 1994 R32 Gtr Project & Restoration
paulR32gtr replied to Ants's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Go Nissan oem for sure - someone does a kit I think maybe kudos or something. The silicon ones vary in quality and its not fun (for the poor sap you pay to do it) trying to get to the ones under the intake plenum -
Ok you got me with the slight on my character - ill bite. What are these glorious magical mysterious cylinders of brake clearing driving pleasure you speak of?? Steve McQueen is definitely one of my heroes - I probably still have the great escape on VHS somewhere and I would like to think I have similar taste in wheels as he.
-
Haha I hear ya Jacks car! Yeah those TE's and LMGT-4's just swallow up the brakes - great design a pity others aren't the same. The 18" TE's even go over 380mm R35 brakes.
-
Good to know. The g2 aren't a bad looking wheel - but might have to stick with the TEs as much as Troy disapproves - he's the one that got me to thinking about other choices.
-
Hehe believe me it was checked thoroughly before I was willing to get under it with extra safety stands. It's been on the blocks for a good few months now - definitely strong enough and great having the car up at that height for fitting gearboxes, exhausts etc. Looking at getting a hoist soon though which will make life much easier. Re: wheels the original plan was some 10.5 TE37's for my 34, then the black 9.5 TE37's +22 on to the 32, but having a few other thoughts the only issue needing them to clear the brakes set up with the 370mm v8 supercar rotors. I have been looking at a few options - one being CE28n's in black or a dark gun metallic. Also looking at the ADVAN RS in dark gun which I love the look of - but I believe they are not forged and probably cost more than a new set of Rays. Might do a test fit of my 9.5's and see how that looks, but the +22 is going to sit in a bit and not take advantage of the rolled / slightly pumped guards.
-
Taking advantage of not having the windscreen washer bottle there put an extra inlet and ducting on the airbox. Used that memory wire ducting stuff so I can shape it under the guard and collect cool air from the front bar. No idea what effect this will actually have but can't hurt. Nismo air filter - looks pretty much like a stock one but a different colour! +50rwkw
-
Got the exhaust installed on the weekend - hugs the body well near stock clearance. Need to sort out some wheels next still a bit undecided on what I will do.
-
The stock 33 gtr airbox is great - I wouldn't change it, there is no reason to. There is an extra inlet into the airbox from the guard that is blocked from factory, open that up. Having had pods before on a 32 gtr and driving it daily I wouldn't do it again. Temps get up too quickly and performance was quite changeable depending on air temp. An ARC airbox sucking from the bay would be similar, and I have heard of people going back from an ARC to the factory box. A scoop over the top of the airbox is just going get gunked up with dirt / leaves and potentially let water into your intake. 33's & 34's are much better than the 32 air box setup. Look at Paul's 2.8 33 making around 470rwkw with a stock airbox: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/397676-piglets-rebuild-of-his-busted-tomei-28/page-56

paulR32gtr replied to andy95'R33GTR's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Definitely not - what was the reason for changing with the stock items? You only need the Nismo ones with a tunable ECU, if you are going over the 300kw mark where the stock ones can't read any more airflow. -
Hi guys - not a biggie but I am unable to follow a specific thread that I was subscribed to in a previous version of the site. It seems to be isolated to this topic - I am able to follow other topics fine. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/272151-good-tow-cars/ Assuming there is an old record in there causing the issue. Cheers, Paul

A Boy's Love For His Rb20
paulR32gtr replied to Roy's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
I had to do mine on my 32 recently as well - the play was epic -
Not at this stage - I already have their 90mm stainless front pipes on the car. However I might need to pull them off and mod them for a three bolt flange to go on my 34, so if that is the case I think I would. Get that full titanium sound going on! Let the wallet recover in the mean time ... damn brakes up next. Got that wiper delete btw - many thanks.
-
Exhaust has arrived and wow - quality & workmanship is top notch as one would hope. They have kept it 90mm all the way through without the dip down at the cat, and I got them to skip the blue flame treatment thing to the tip. Total weight is 7.2kg for the exhaust, 850gms for the test pipe.

Picked up my catch can / windscreen washer combo today from Racepace and all the gear to fit it. Also picked up final couple of bits I was missing being a lower intercooler mount and the intake pipe for the rear turbo. So the intake / intercooler / BOV's etc is all bolted in and complete minus the AFM's and airbox really which is hiding somewhere at this point. Exhaust will be here tomorrow or Friday. Aiming to do some electrical testing and general checking over on Sunday and bolt the exhaust on. Getting close to start up! All plumbed in.
