  1. Australian Design Rules require cars fitted with HID headlights to have an auto-levelling function and to be fitted with headlight washers to avoid dazzling other road users. They don't have the same requirement in Japan, so most of them run them over there, while we usually get poo-strength halogens. Of those that are sold here with HIDs from new (eg Honda Accord) look for the washer function fitted nearby the headlights.
  2. I can't think of what ran the RB25E either come to think of it. It could be an RB20E, which the base model R33s had.
  3. Actually it's only the car manufacturing side of Mitsubishi that have been doing it tough - in Japan they make everything from elevators, to pens, to helicopters, to oil tankers... Sorry, back on topic
  4. Looks like an RB25E to me, definitely single cam. It'd be as slow as a wet week...
  5. I'm gonna give myself a free plug - I'm heading to Japan next week on a buying trip. but the exchange rate is breaking my balls at the moment. The other free plug is for SLED's car - PM him, because his V-Spec is definitely worth a look.
  6. No we're definitely gonna do it sooner than that - people need more than 2 weeks' notice. I'm in Japan next week, but we'll get on to it soon.
  7. Jap Spec U12s came with an east-west CA18DET (with top mount intercooler!), AWD and ATTESA. I've got a hard top SSS-Ltd tucked away in a shed.
  8. Do a search on tradecarview and you'll find out what the general consensus is
  9. Man you need to petition the Qld govt for some square number plates...
  10. Of course, it could just be that the owner had roof racks....lol you guys...
  11. Would nice to have one or two customers like that hey Ben! The other issue is dodgy buyers at the other end - one of my agents does a few cars into Africa, and he was saying that for every 100 emails he sends out, he'd get 20 saying they're interested in buying from him, so to weed them out, he would send them a dummy invoice saying they'd bought the car at auction. Why? Of the 20 that received a dummy invoice for a car they'd requested that my agent bid on for them, 15 would never contact him again, 4 would say they'd run out of money or apologise and say they couldn't buy the car for a variety of reasons, and 1 out of the original 100 would actually TT the money on the invoice. At that point obviously the agent would go and buy the car, and continue dealing with them, but hell, it's a lot of work.
  12. For those of you who like looking at the bigger picture, it's worth looking at where we fit in the global scheme of things as far as exports out of Japan. Some fascinating figures there, but I'll let you draw your own conclusions CUSTOMS_DATA_2002_2008_.pdf
  13. Quick update, bought these for mine - 19 x 8.5 and 9.5 +26 all round. Stich Kampfer. Get some slammage happening and it'll be looking swoit.
  14. Model code - RA... Chassis number - A31... Colour and trim - #TH1 G Engine - RB20DET Transmission - Full range Electronic Auto Suspension - Rear Multilink Exterior - Dark Blue Pearl Interior - Off-Black lol - it says Dandy or Dundee or something, presume that's the trim name Options - HICAS LSD That's a very cool placard by the way - I presume that was stuck on it from the factory, would be very rare to see one still in existence, I would've thought.
  15. Or try Danny at Japanese Performance Centre - they might have something there. The car was probably stolen and taken for a joyride - saw a very similar incident last week. They didn't give a toss, because it wasn't their car.
  16. I loooooove Bavaria Cars! From memory, they were the ones who transplanted an old BMW F1 motor from the turbo era into an old 2002...would've been a fun car, no doubt...
  17. ^^^ hahaha The N1 won't be seeing much road this week Yes, I'm soft!
  18. Because you didn't have it registered there, I think you're going to have a hard time bringing it in as a personal import. And yes you'd still pay GST on it if you did bring it over. Actually, when was the purchase date in Japan? (Presuming you imported it to NZ yourself)
  19. Yeah my wife used it to do the school run that afternoon - didn't you notice the child restraint hooks were used?? lol
  20. I much prefer the Australian way of modding BMWs... http://www.dtmpower.net/forum/showroom/185...6-325i-20z.html You know it's bad when Americans are teasing you about it...
  21. hahaha I remember that one...
  22. One law I already knew about was the passenger one - it's to prevent people getting into a car with a drink driver. The basic rule is that whatever punishment gets handed to the driver, any adult passengers cop half that. My agent's mate got done a little while back. But yes, keystone cops indeed...
  23. Holy snot balls - imagine the sound from it...
  24. Unless Johnny is a pedophile.... Only joking, I said "unless", don't get defensive...
