I don't believe they have any metal ribbing in them.. not the early rb20 ones anyhow. You could always make some ribbing by winding some heavy wire around a cylinder of the same diameter as the tube. Then insert. Cheap non-bling option..

I've got a 1990 pulsar at the moment as a daily driver. Costs about $30 a week and i do a fair bit of driving. I hired a 2004 nissan pulsar the other week whilst in melb, and to be honest, my older car was both faster and about the same economy! and the driving feel wasn't all that much better, in fact very vague and distant the steering and feel of the whole car. Cars in that sort of range haven't got that much better if you ask me in the last 10-15 years. Now its just about all components as cheap as possible, with the false impression of class with the fake leather look, plastic chromed bits, etc.

as above.. old corollas are pretty reliable.. or you could get a 1990 Holden Astra .. which is really just a Nissan Pulsar .. gotta love holden and their early 90's stuff like that.

Pretty much look like the above. There are probably other ones other than nissan that would do the trick, and I've seen them at Repco, but I'd stick with the Nissan. I changed my exhaust manifold gasket over the other week before the rb25 went in.. SiksII is on the money with the procedure though.

spend the money on the performance.. visual mods just attract attention and in the end don't make a better driving experience. $2500 is not bad price if that includes the engine? the swap itself is easy and the guts of it can be done in a weekend. mine's taken longer, as I've converted mine to manual and just fixing or replacing the smaller things, tracking down those missing hoses, etc to make sure the engine will be reliable with hard use... and the fact I am working out the wiring very slowly you can also realise some of the benefits on an rb25.. replacement parts easier to track down as r33 everywhere, tuners more familiar with rb25's, rb25 powerfc cheaper, certain parts are no longer made for rb20, etc later on down the track. I'm going to write a full guide with photos, etc when mine is done..

Fuel Consumption, Gtr Vs Gts-t
predator replied to moneybags's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I've heard GTR's use twice as much fuel because they have two turbos.. <cough> -
looking good there.. except your battery fell over

do a burnout -
The sender is quite easy to remove.. get a 17mm spanner on there, and unscrew from behind.. if you jack that side of the car up, it shouldn't leak any oil out the block. Screw in new or replacement sender. Probably best off with an aftermarket gauge when you're there.

Rough Idle And Ticking Noise From Exhuast Manifold Side
predator replied to Kryostaisis's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
there's 12.. they're $2.85 each from nissan. Its usually the front and the back ones that snap off, yup. i'd be spending the extra effort taking the turbo off, it will save you time and make it much easier to do what you need to do. -
You can also blame the governments for taking so much tax out .. when they levy nearly 50% in taxes..As you can see below: QLD seems to be 10-15c/L cheaper than NSW and VIC, and has an extra rebate to reduce the prices. Go lobby your state governments to do the same. 70c?! last time it was 70c/L was about 10 years ago. bahaha.. you believe what you see on the news .. bahahahaha and more bahahaha.. Look they are always doomsaying and things as whoever says it gets attention. We'll see. They were saying things such as this during Gulf War I. 10 years on its gone up but not *that* much.

predator replied to predator's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Buyer has just dropped out. price drop to $400. if you can organise freight, may be able to freight.. pickup postcode is 4227.. dimenisons are 51x55x50 @ 45kg.. x2 (2 wheels per box). You organise it, I'll give them the wheels. -
just near the ECU.. grab i think its pin 7 and bridge off that .. check the rb25 ECU pin diagram.

the old speakers have plastic spacers that come out...you're removing those and fitting these wooden ones of about the same thickness. The skins go on, and you wouldn't know that I had 6" speakers in there. The skin is screwed to the bottom of the door as per normal, and the bottom right toggle is still used. Pics would only show it looking as per factory with the skins back on.

they're not a factory plug.. they're from some accessory or stereo equipment which was once on the car, but probably no longer is.. Wouldn't worry about it. Tuck it away and forget

FWD gives a lot more direct steering feedback, and cornering .. its not neccessarily a worse setup. But when you get to a certain amount of power (i.e. lots) its hard to get it to the ground, but as said above quite a lot of cars do it pretty well these days. Those that say "its not RWD therefore it must be crap" are often the same ones that drive falcondores.. FWD cars will always be there, for regions such as europe, asia etc where space is a bit of a premium, there are many narrow windy roads, and where you don't need big thumping fuel guzzlers - resulting in generally smaller engined cars which suit a FWD platform a bit better. And there will always be a demand for something that little bit faster, etc.

Qld Transport Minister Slams Imports
predator replied to ' Max Power's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I think in some ways it comes down to some young person driving an old car faster than say an older person who has spent $50k+ on their brand new HSV, etc to get similar performance levels... worse of all the imports are less than $20k for the most part, so there is "how the hell can they drive a car with that amount of power, and yet it costs 1/3 the price of my car?". Then comes the "they just aren't experienced enough, those sorts of cars are unsafe, etc, etc" to justify in their own mind why younger people shouldn't be driving these sorts of cars. They can throw things up about pollution, it being dangerous, but in the back of their minds I think that is getting their ticker. Its affordable performance, and that is what makes the older generation nervous. -
You'd probably get less for robbing somebody, and/or raping somebody.. Just shows out of whack things are. If you're going to get done for that much, you just wouldn't stop at all! I think that would actually result in more serious incidents. It's all insane.

any wheel shop should be able to help.. the nissan nuts are all the same thread from what i remember..

Cubes: Seeing as its been delayed so long ? is it still possible to get in on the group buy ? might be interested..
-
hmm, damn, i was feeling bored too well its about fullboost by about 3800 I remembered (as measured on safc).. it starts before that, but its pretty snappy.. i.e.. nothing nothing... ON But there were things I did think to reduce that (like you say).. cam gears, cams, different stall speed, proper aftermarket ecu that can handle auto, etc.. but you know it all adds up into an expensive proposition. I went to a GTR pump and nismo FPR just for safety on the fueling so no idea if it underfuelled - $300 all up.. bargain for some reliability.
-
nothing needs to be rotated.. $300-400 is reasonable.. $100/hr workshop rate x 4 hours = $400. Look, come to the goldcoast sometime between tomorrow and monday (bar saturday.. glug glug day) and i'll install it for you for $100... I did mine, wasn't hard. You seem in pain about it. Just go for it. I gave it a try on my old setup and i wasn't a fan.. i can show you a video at the drag strip to illustrate my point. The whole thing convinced me to go that rb25 and manual conversion that much sooner. you will need that elbow... I don't know why people take them off, but they seem to 'disappear' regularly. it is a little laggy truee.. ESPECIALLY on auto rb20det.. but i am not sure what else wouldn't be either. you can't even stall it up as there is nothing until about 3500rpm (stall is about 2500rpm - so thats like 1000rpm of like nothing).. Thats not heaps.. but seeing as with an auto that takes while to spin up.

Got a set of R34 GT-T rims.. In good condition.. only minor blemishes as would be expected with used rims.. other x2 are pretty much same condition. Come with all caps. They are 17x7.5" - direct fit R32 and R33 I believe fine with the correct profile tyres.. Here is a couple of shots on an R32 to get the idea. ** SOLD ** Pickup on gold coast only.. unless you can arrange for delivery pickup from my place. 0417 016 326
