Took this photo a few months back in my garage, and depetched it. Not a fan of the polish cover as it gets dirty pretty easy, so it will get airbrushed eventually down the track in purple with some sort of design on it (inspired by TOP RPM engine cover). Will replace those ugly green hoses too & got a Trust oil filter relocation kit for it, yet to be installed though...plus some other goodies lined up to finish it off for now.

Triple Or Twin Plate Clutches
MattyP replied to Adz2332's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I'm in the market for a new clutch, and this topic has sorta come in handy. I hear all this 'rated at 600hp' clutches, and some people saying that they last ages with the odd 'It blew up after a few launches'. Now would this '600hp rated' clutch be aimed at rwd or fwd cars? I was thinking about it today, and with the GT-R being awd it would cause more stress with the clutch. So lets say hypothetically I have a 600hp GTR and I'm using this so called '600hp rated' clutch, I would most likely be putting stress of say a 700-800hp GTS-T using this 600hp clutch on the R? The last thing I want to happen is for my gearbox to break, and I had in mind of purchasing a triple plate OS or Carbonetic clutch of some description that would be semi bulletproof for now. However, then I'd be putting more stress on the gearbox I would assume using this clutch, so maybe I should downgrade and find a good twin plate instead? I currently have a twin plate of an unknown description installed by the previous owner, and I've probably done a bit over 10 hard launches in it to date (don't know how long previous owner had clutch in for and how he drove it) and now it's so rooted that I can't even daily drive it now. My R will probably put out ~450-500hp atw by the end of this year I'm assuming, and I want a clutch that is gearbox friendly. Suggestions? Would strengthening 1st-2nd gears be a good option if I went triple plate? -
Just an old one of my mate's 34 Tommy K. Will get some b*tches on my car one day soon when I can be bothered.

Does anyone have the HKS DB Chrono gauges, because I'd like to see a shot of them installed in a car. Preferably black, as they are the range I plan on getting.

The red light is so it doesnt' blind you at night, as the normal flash if they used that will blind you for sure. I know as my mum use to work in the Police camera department. She also gave me a framed photo of my first Kodak moment with a multinova for Xmas one year.

My car's exterior is very original (cept for Nismo smoked lenses and the Gandors that are to be fitted later). I questioned about the front bar myself, however the main reason was because it didn't have the front vents which I later found to be are from N1 spec GTR front bars. Yes it does have a bonnet lip on it...Nismo item.

A few new ones taken over the weekend when I got bored.

At the end of the day Motorvation isn't about 'our scene', but 'their scene'... Taken from Motorvation website: There is NOTHING about imports / japanese cars in the above, and at the end of the day there never will be. I vaugely remember the days where you'd hardly see Jap cars at MV, however probaly the past 3-4 years the number of jap cars has increase significantly as they've realised they can do well at MV. I think the problem here is not about Motorvation and its events, but the treatment of jap/import owners at Motorvation. If this is the case, this then becomes more of a one on one / personal thing that needs to be discussed by the parties involved..not the entire car scene. When you say 'improving events for the Import Scene', what else are you looking at? The jap cars clean out the driving events, have every opportunity to do well in the skids (s13s/s15, rwd Skylines etc. though cubes always win hands down for burnouts), can put out good numbers on the dyno. What more do you want?? End of the day, you can't make everyone happy and as mentioned MV was designed to cater for a select group of vehicles and remains that way. They wouldn't care if import car clubs boycotted the events, because there will still be cars on show that fit THEIR criteria and most important THEIR audience. The reason why you don't see many jap / import clubs @ MV is because most are a bunch of ricers and would get totally owned, or rejected at Motorvation. If you have a Lancer, with 20" rims, Evo bodykit and fluffy dice you get accepted into Autosalon, however your application for Motorvation would make it into the paper shredder pretty quickly. Sure a few V8s are making their way onto the Autosalon scene. Majority of the V8s I've seen at Perth Autosalon are probably only capable of winning four trophies out of the ones on offer (highest 8cyl hp, best holden, best ford and top hp) as most of Perth's 'show and go' Aussie cars stay away and save their cars for the Ford and Holden Hot Rod show and MV. On the Autosalon site, they mention they 'cater to owners of late-modified vehicles hailing from Europe, Japan and Australia' but look closer into the site and you would see mainly photos of Japanese cars. This is why you don't see the Commodore Car Club of WA etc at Autosalon as they don't waste their time doing shows catering mainly for Japanese cars. Common sense I'd say... I was watching one of only a few Ignition DVDs I've got at home, and noticed an event over east called 'Nightshift'. This show from what I could tell looked like it caters for the best show cars from both jap, import, v8, hot rods etc. Maybe create a show that starts and runs all through the night (keeping the show cars clean for a good period) and ends the following day with burnouts, drags etc.

Check Ebay, Nengun, Greenline... Samco do different coloured hoses, but you'll be spending around $500 or so to replace them all. I just picked up some cheap blue Autobahn silicon hoses from J-Shop the other day for a bit over $100 (these are temporary hoses while I wait for my Samco hoses), however these are similar silicon hoses you can get off Ebay for about $80 delivered.

WGMG, is these PERFORMANCE CAR ONLY cruises. (not any one in particular, just in general). and c**ts that think they HAVE TO make their turnoff on a street, even though they're in a position on the road which is unsafe to change lanes etc. Have they heard of 'driving up the road and doing a u-turn ffs'.

I'm after the thermostat housing. Is that available? If so how much?

Earlier last week my car R broke down, and when I got home I found the engine to be making some weird rattling noises. I've been told its the retainers, and that they need to be replaced. At the same time I thought I might as well do the springs etc, however reading up some of the blurb they have on Nengun the HKS and Tomei ones say they are designed to be used with their upgraded camshafts. I however don't plan on upgrading them, so my question is would I be harming the engine parts in using upgraded springs etc on normal camshafts? Or is my best bet to just go to Nissan and buy factory ones instead (which would probabyl cost as much as aftermarket ones or more). Cheers

The last time I had one of the mentioned workshops above fix a rim, it actually looked worse than when I dropped it off. Paint runs, and cracks even :S Wouldn't be going back there thats for sure. I kerbed one of my rear rims a couple weeks ago while parking, left like a 7cm scrape mark. Annoyed me at first, but oh well sh*t happens and life goes on. IMO, I wouldn't repair your rim just yet (give it some time, just incase you do more damage to it) and from memory its ~$80+ per rim to repair.

@ that cheap price though? If so, I'm there Thursday night then lol

1) As someone mentioned, it was the happy snap camera attached to the number plate 2) I was waiting for someone to say that. The car came lowered (on Cusco coilovers), however the dump pipes were like 2 inches off the ground. I use the car for work purposes (when I get the opportunity) and travel through some country areas where pot holes / big deep ditches can be found. I raised the car to get over the pits first, however after using it at its current raised height for the past few weeks I absolutely love it!! It's not crashing over anything and I don't have to drive on a 45degree angle in car parks or to get up steep driveways. I plan to paint and repair the front lip (couple joins broken), so the raised height will also come in handy in keeping that in good condition. Sure lowered looks hot, but meh I'm over the whole looks thing. My mum says it sounds like a truck, and now I can say it looks like one too 3) The front bar is genuine GT-R, and yes you are correct its a GTR (V-Spec) as well lol. Everything exterior wise is original, except for the Nismo bonnet lip & smoked lenses.

They're A-Tech 'Final Speed' forged rims measuring 17x9.5" . The only downside to them (that's if your fussy) is that there are no centre caps available for them.

Some new pics I took today, sporting new plates the following pics were taken on the weekend on GODZLR's VERY FIRST driver training day on Saturday. A great day it was, and can't wait to get out there again and learn more about how the car handles etc. 7k launches on a slipping twin plate..why not? it still smoked all 4s though :S Notice something unusual...... As some may have noticed in one photo, my happy snap camera was attached to my rear numberplate just to see how it went. I tried the front and back plates, and passenger window using my Ixus 65 camera on a Manfrotto window mount (not suction cup) The videos taken can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTPFBjTQ8E4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FGLLJGuFkw

Now I don't know what NY means, but police here do have cars that computers equipped with number plate checking devices. Could be for the use of people with warrants out for them, unpaid fines, licensed suspensions etc. I've seen it up close and personal in action, and its pretty niffty gear. Was doing photos of the LAPD using this stuff a couple years ago, and saw this fully kitted orange VL drive by the car at normal speeds, not attracting any extra attention..however it attracted the attention of the computer and the cops up the road pulled out from a side street up the road and pulled the car over. However I haven't seen these units out on the road of late... :S

Cops aren't princesses themselves..saw a couple in a Highway Patrol car today with the driver talking on his hand held mobile phone. Was tempted to take a photo, but then my car is yellow sticker worthy atm so I didn't want them to chase me down and give me a birdy. I'm actually thinking of creating a new You Tube account, and putting videos of bad / pathetic / hoon driving by the general Perth public, and anything I see that police officers shouldn't be doing. With the amount of time I'm on the road, I'm sure I'll have a very impressive collection...one of which Mr Dorrington and the Police Commissioner would be proud of.

My mate just got back his badly damaged S2k back from them, which had a very rare genuine Buddy Club bodykit on it. Looks smick as now. Recent pic of it in my gallery section.

Good place to go is www.perth-wrx.com to see what to look for in regards to purchasing a WRX. I would also suggest taking it to a workshop that specialises in WRXs. Otherwise, just take the car for a spin. Get RAC to check it, and you should be fine dude.
