  1. The 'R' design on the dash in the pic above is similar to that of the badge R on my mate's Tommy Kiara 34 (GTT). Maybe they flipped the tacho & lcd display over between the GTT and the GTR :S
  2. I had 5g to spend when my R came in, however it went by rather quick... $1.4k insurance $1k+ on little stuff (oil cap, radiator cap, clear lenses, fuel pump, gear knob) $256 service + $120 compression test $150+ in wax / cleaning products $990 in labour to fix a $50 heater hose (don't ask) $220 to prepare the car to get over the pits (which it did on its first go) Around $50 worth of temp permits, with more to come $400ish in alarm / immobiliser components (cost price - this isn't inc labour which I've still yet to pay my mate for! Plus its going to get upgraded consistantly over time to be more hardcore than Fiddy Cent) Then fuel from all the trashing I have been giving the car since. I've still yet to pay stamp duty on the car which is $1500ish, then rego of $400 odd. Then I want tint on the car - $350 odd Need the a/c regassed - ~$120 Need a new clutch in the next month or so, esp when I take it to AHG and the plex sometime in next month - $1-2k THEN the last performance thing will be is to install new injectors, cam gears, get the thing tuned etc and that will probably see no change from $3-4k. *sigh* Sh*t can happen quick...maybe just enjoy the car for a few months in its stock form and save up some extra cash (maybe another $5k) and do things in one hit properly the first time, the last time. Unfortunately for me, things haven't gone according to plan and I've had to fork out on expenses I didn't really plan on occuring. I actually was gonna get a 4dr 34 back in '04, and spend 10k on it and make it some 400+ hp machine. Good luck with the car dude.
  3. Lost my license back in '02 I think it was, back in my tough Ford Meteor / Pulsar days. Just a gradual loss of points for speeding, though no big fines (max was 3pts for the 20+). Since '02, I've been sorta good and got quiet a few points back..however I'm probably back on 6 or so after getting pulled over earlier in the year by the Midland LAPD for a 2pt in the Pulsar. Been pulled over twice in Skyline so far over the past 3 months, flashed once in it (next to another car though on SAUWA cruise) and I'm hoping it just gets better from here. *fingers crossed*
  4. I second the FTO... looks good, heaps come in automatic...
  5. RX7 you'd have to maintain quiet a bit, justl like BoostR32 mentioned. Sure it looks hella hot, but won't be looking hot on the street if its going to be off the road at workshops all the time. I was looking at STI, RX7, Supras and GTRs before I ended up purchasing the R (33) this year, and the thing that won me was the AWD (not to my knowledge that it wasn't full time AWD lol) and petrol consumption vs. cylinders as the R is my work car (800-1000k+ km per week). Also the cabin size, which can comfortable hold 4 people with plenty of leg room for everyone. Supra would be too easy to modify to gain performance, which is a good thing. One of the fastest Supras in WA is running 11s with STOCK TURBOS. Reason why I didn't go the Supra was because its a bit too poser spec for me, but each to their own. Supras are dirt cheap anyway, so you'll have plenty of cash left over for mods etc. I didn't go the STI as bf of then gf's sister had one, and was getting 300km at most from his car with granny driving. I'm so glad I didn't go the STI after getting the R, as all the ones that have lined up with me have been left looking at my cooking plates at the back Good luck with your choice, and I'm sure you'll get something you like. You looking over east for your next car? You can pick up bargains usually over there. *Also, just check out the Supra and Mazda forums and see what people think are the good and bad things about the car, and weigh it up from there. Take one for a spin etc*
  6. What pits did you take it to? I took mine over to the Midland pits earlier in the week, and passed with flying colours. Though the next thing I need to do is arrange permits. My Cusco suspension is rock hard (can't push it 1cm even), and mechanic told me that the only thing that would probably fail my car was the suspension and the reverberation (whatever you call it) through the air filters due to the BOVs being blocked for the inspection. Tint you can take it to any tinter to remove for about $20 or so. I had limo tint on all my windows except for drivers and passenger one, however I think the law states you can have dark tint on any fixed window :S I'm removing the tint down the track as I can see f*ck all at night through the rear window. You could probably take your car to some 'general mechanic' for the suspension etc, as if they can't do it they'll probably out source it to someone else. (or just see the above post lol) Good luck.
  7. This accident was covered on all major news networks etc at the time. There is probably something back dated on this and other car forums regarding this accident.
  8. I've been currently waiting well over a month for one of my items at the moment, but luckily I'm in no rush for the part so doesn't bother me. They can take 3 months for all I care, just as long as it arrives I'm happy. Most of my other Nengun orders have come in 3 weeks tops. If you want stuff fast, then Greenline is the go though you pay a tiny bit extra for the service apparently.
  9. Go down Old Great Northern Hwy during the day and you'll see marked WRX Police cars on the side of the road (most of the time). Yet to see one actually driving on the street yet.
  10. I was planning on getting a Volvo V70R (performance wagon) or C70 (coupe/convertible) before getting the R, as I not only wanted to show what a big car can do...but love to see the face of someone getting their a** handed down to them by a Volvo hehehe. Maybe when I hit 35-40 with 2 kids or something then I may follow that dream, until then the R will stay. WGMG..the current government ad campaigns :S Kevin '07 ftw
  11. Well if they have moved location I think one of the first things they would have done would be to change their contact info on their website, or shut it down if the business was no more. I would suggest one way to find out Masters, but I think you and I know not to go there hahahahaha. Maybe check out the MX-5 forum to see where they have gone to...
  12. If you're a member of Tuned, wouldn't you want to display with them?? (or recruit others from there who don't wish to display under the Tuned banner) Or aren't they doing Autosalon '08...just like they said '06 was their last Autosalon appearance hahahahaha.
  13. Also, you'll have to wait for a space to open up as most of them (students) would have projects of their own. My mate's dad is a TAFE paint lecturer, and his car got a full blown respray which cost him like $1500 I think from memory.
  14. Any place can do custom boxes, just whether it's tuned is another question. Some places use software which designs a box so your subs perform a certain way. For example, the one in my Pulsar was a ported enclosure however unlike most ported enclosures that have a very high peak point, the design enabled a very similar responce to that of a sealed enclosure but with more output. Though this box would come at a cost as the software the particular place used for it costs like $2k. But if you couldn't give a rats about that, then any car shop can do you a custom box. Alberts, Audioart, SXA, Audiocom, Strathfields...or best person is yourself. (Buy some wood from Bunnings)
  15. Here are some of my snaps from this afternoon's shoot... http://matthewpoon.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=6225
  16. Only went to the meet point and up to the point where everyone else turned off at Kenwick Link, as wasn't going to go for a massive cruise with my driver's window down in the rain (module busted on me yesterday) lol. Not bad turnout even with the rain...some alright cars and good Skyline representation.
  17. What would be the best product to maintain a polished engine bay, as I read certain metal polishers aren't that crash hot :S
  18. Yeah kinda agree, don't like the indicators or reverse light part... Does anyone have a clue on the under panel?
  19. I've been looking on various online shop sites (nengun / greenline) to find an undercarriage cover / under panel, and LED tail lights to no prevail for my R33 GTR. I'm not after the ricey clear tail lights, but if they're my only option then I guess I have to stick to them. I was hoping to just have LED lights, with surrounds that I paint to match the car. The reason why I'm after an under panel is due to sometimes driving over rocky roads, which may result in a punctured pipe up front (it has already cost me $20 in pipe + almost $1k in labour to fix a heater hose this week!!) Does anyone here have one, or know where I can find one? Does it have to be custom made possibly? Cheers
  20. I got a heater hose leak, and 'apparently' you have to take the gear box out (its at a workshop atm) to get to the hose :S
  21. Well where I was, one heavily drunken dude stole a bottle of booze from the bar and then started dancing in a very open area with it. Within a minute, a giant bouncer comes out and takes him out from behind. The drunk dude gets up eventually, jumps in the air while being held by security and face plants into the ground. He then gets up again, kicking the security guards (about 5 of them) and then this random girl (who we eventually found out was his sister) tries to break it up and he slaps her big time on the face. Female security guard gets hell offended by that and tries to put the guy to the ground, but then he ended up putting her to the ground. I got plenty of action shots of it, but probably not appropriate to put online for now.
  22. Today I went and popped my Spring in the Valley cherry. Working for a paper has its perks, and one of our advertisers, The Great Northern Distillery, asked me to come enjoy the antics and snap some social pics for them for the day. Over 1000 pics later & countless drinks..my job was done 'Bruce Lee' or 'Austen Powers' style (my nickname for the day by patrons). Who else went down this weekend and got absolutely blinded? Social photos from the Great Northern Distillery (click on link) *I'm sure people here would probably know some of the peeps in the photos..pass link on to friends if you know they went to the GND on Sunday (I didn't go Sat)*
  23. My dog (actually sister's) is the number fighting dog in my suburb...I have the fines to prove it Can't wait for the day some punk jumps my fence.
  24. Sorry to hear about your car Mitchy. I almost had a lady run my ass in the Pulsar the other week in the wet. Heard her lock it up and screaming for my rear end but thankfully I had it in first and managed to take off an extra 10m or so which gave her enough room to swerve into the grass next to me.
  25. Myself and the gf know the key feeling very well. My ex gf keyed up both sides of my Pulsar and bonnet, and then my gf's rear quarter and along entire passenger side of her Lancer. Can't wait for court time
