  1. I think I got mine for about $140 each from Bridgestone Campbelltown in the summer
  2. White R34 GTT 34BEN up on the mount at JAX Tyres Kensington. Hope you get back on the road soon!
  3. Reduce weight, I guess. You could take out the back seats.
  4. Spotted an immaculate R31 GTSR at gym this afternoon in Liverpool
  5. So I got the a second hand gasket for $10 today at Skyline Works in Fairfield. The old one as you can see was pretty worse for wear A couple of mates swung by to lend me a hand, we put the gasket in, sealed it up and now the car is running beautifully. Better than ever with the new Splitfires!
  6. I'm looking for the gasket for this thing Anybody know where I can get it from?
  7. You have to take it off to get easy access to where the coils are. Don't think there could be any other reason, unless there's a hose unplugged. I ask because I can't drive it to the shop the way its running.
  8. I had misfires and pulled error code 21 from my N/A R34, so I got a set of Splitfires and a mate came round to help me install them. When we put it all back together and gave it a crank, the engine ran very rough, it was honestly much worse after swapping the coils than before, completely undriveable. There was a loud popping noise coming from the intake manifold, a strong smell of fuel and smoke from the exhaust and after I moved the car back into the garage I noticed that there was a puddle of coolant underneath where the car had been parked. My mate reckoned the intake gasket was cooked, which made sense because when we opened up the intake manifold earlier in the day the gasket looked out of shape and it was difficult to fix the manifold back in place since the gasket wouldn't line up and one of the nails was threaded.
  9. This. How much straight road do you need to get to 180+? The quickest I've been in mine is only 150 and even that took like 700m of dead empty highway.
  10. Is that where the intermodal's going to be located? That's no good. Moorebank Ave and Anzac Rd, which are the only two ways to access it, are small local roads. They can't handle an intermodal facility on top of local traffic, of which there is a lot during peak hours.
  11. I need to get some touch up paint, BP9. This is probably a stupid question but is there any difference between getting a spray can and normal paint with a brush?
  12. Cheers for the advice. I really want to learn how to do it myself, it looks like a lot of fun, plus I'd save so much money. Splitfires are about $20 each cheaper than OEMs through Kudos. I have the non turbo R34, it's a bit more complicated to do the coils than with the RB25DET. Apparently you have to remove the intake manifold and the strut brace to get to them. There's a nice guide here which shows how to do it. http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122284-r34-replacing-spark-plugs-on-neo6-rb20de-rb25de/ I do have a couple of mates who have good mechanical skills. I might ask one of them to lend me a hand.
  13. I got another miss, error 21. Frustrating! But I've had about enough of the quick fixes, all they've managed to do is get me to fork out more in the end. It's time to go clean and save up to get factory coils in. I feel like this sort of thing is only worthwhile if you have the mechanical skills to do it yourself. I'm wondering if its worth swapping the plugs too. I got BCPR6ES only about five months ago so they should still be fine, but if I'm going to pay somebody to take the engine apart, I might as well do the plugs too while it's there.
  14. Spotted a silver R33 coupe with some unusual bodykit at Mac Fields shops last night. If only it was daytime, I could have taken a sick photo!
  15. It's not about me being too old, it's about the GTR! By the time I'm 30 the car will be 25. I heard maintenance on GTRs is a lot, even when they're newish. When they're 25 years old, it'll be even more expensive to keep them running right?
  16. Tunnelling would be the other way. Whether it's above or below, either way we need to start using all three dimensions pretty soon. Or massively improve public transport. Personally I think tunnels everywhere would be hideous because you'd spend all your time driving under artificial lighting in the dark. I like being able to see the sky, being stuck in traffic in the M5 East is boring enough to nearly put me to sleep. At least with elevated roads only the arterial highways and main roads would be thrown into shadows, and most people would be using the elevated one anyway since it's for transit. Like, you'd have Hume Highway down below for people who need to go to businesses or whatever there, and you'd have the elevated Hume Highway for people who're just passing through the neighbourhood to get somewhere else.
  17. I'm not fussed about GTRs. They're awesome and everything, but I'm not going to be in a financial situation to afford and maintain a GTR until I'm in my 30s and by then they'll be way too old. I would be really happy with an R34 GTT on my fulls.
  18. I got the Potenza RE003s around two months ago and they're fantastic, in the dry and in the rain. But then again the old set I had were so bad and worn I couldn't even make it up the driveway on a rainy day, so I'm experiencing a massive improvement with the Potenzas. If you're already used to having good tyres the Potenzas might not seem like much.
  19. Pretty soon the only traffic solution is going to be to start building elevated roads a few metres above the existing ones. The elevated road network would be for transit and the ground road network would be to access homes and businesses and stuff. I wouldn't mind taking public transport to uni if it didn't take an hour and a half each way. Driving is usually quicker except in the worst of rush hours, plus I find pleasure in driving and I can carry around more than what fits into a backpack.
  20. The M5 East is just horrible. Who thought it was a good idea to build a two lane motorway?
  21. Spotted a black R34 GTR V spec in Liverpool, 34ZEE.
  22. Spotted a couple of R34 coupes parked near UNSW today. A white one CA78RB and a silver one BCM81Z.
