I don't own a Tiltatrailer but have heard good reports about them. But they have expanded mesh tops I think, not sure how that would go with semi's or slicks. Might damage them?
Try Otomoto for light DR30 body panels from Japan where they were raced back in the day. FJ is a great motor, depends on what you are allowed to do with it management and turbo wise as to power. Bodies are a bit floppy I think, cage work should fix that, my heart says Z31 but the FJ donk breathes so much better than the VG30ET.
Hmmm, so a world champ gets pissed because his car is not up to scratch? Seems fair enough to me, a bit different to a certain pommy media darling who puts on the grumpy face when he does not come first.
CAMS operates on a completely different basis to AASA. CAMS is the old mate conservative establishment, AASA goes where the demand is. Must suck to be in a CAMS dominated mexican state if you are not part of the CAMS incrowd
A set of FZ201's in 17" cost me ~$1400 from Option One Garage, two 235/40, two 255/40. Haven't had a chance to use them yet because of the endless bloody rain.
DR30 would be somewhere around 100kg lighter to start with than the Z31 I'd guess but there is a lot of surplus stuff in a Z31, FJ20ET -v- VG30ET engines. FJ is a great engine but crucial new parts are virtually unobtainable eg oil pumps. VG can be made virtually bullet proof without a lot of expense or effort.
Nissan Z31 turbo (300ZX) for targa? Bloke in our Z Car Club with targa experience is apparently looking at building one, I think for the pre 1985 class. I have had some experience with the Z31's three liter single cam V6, 350whp with a decent power spread would be doable at say 15psi boost from a standard looking motor. Car weight could be brought down to ~1200kg assuming OE steel panels are kept and the strut front semi trailing arm rear suspension could be made to work just as well as BMW did with theirs. I've yet to speak with him but apparently he is looking for a two seater rather than the heavier longer wheelbase 2+2 version which was the only one Nissan AU sold.
So, what is his likely competition and how good might it be? RX7's for starters I guess.
Geez, because you were so dismissive of cheating in sprints. For the millionth time, now there is an official competition with classes, rules and prizes. Ring a bell? Still keeping those beaut Lakeside laps you did on YouTube as a favourite though
Hmmmm, for those trying to compete for prizes it just could be important, I don't know, not me. Yeh and we all know that compared with targas sprints are small time, oh to be a big fish in a small pool.
AASA in Q have separate sprint days for race cars plus they have their Top Gear race series for any car so race only cars are well catered for here. As for road registered cars, it will be a sort of honour system I guess but at least now they have laid down some rules that should work to exclude blatant cheating.
See that the AASA Q sprint series this year requires street cars to be road registered and use road legal tyres. That's if you want to be legal for the new competiton with prizes that they are running. Pffft, I only got a crummy trophy in 2010
Basically for road registered cars doing a variety of speed events to see which car forum has the best cars and drivers. More detail here http://forumbattle.com.au/
That Schedule B Harry posted applies only to front opening bonnets, wonder if there are any requirements for rear openers. In my experience with a rear opener air pressure in the engine bay at speed lifts the back up quite a bit if it is unlatched.
