I'm not totally sure but I think it ceased being about driving the car a long while ago at least at the silly money end.
-
Purely based on car vs car, of course. but the difference is price is driven by rarity. 911 Turbos are churned out every year, year in year out. Even more desirable GT3s amount to nearly 30,000 units from 2001 to 2018 vs only 7000 total R34 GTRs that are not "just" base series 1 or series 2. And only 3000 that are neither base OR v-spec I .. So you've got a few thousand to serve a global interest.

Some price updates: An m-spec Nur in rare Silica brass sold for 25.9m yen but it was grade R and had high km, panel repair, aftermarket fenders and various other issues. JM Imports in UK is listing a Vspec2 Nur in millennium jade with just 400km for 330,000 ukp A grade 5, 4000km v-spec ii nur went through auctions in Japan and fetched 30m yen

I have a second blank key, and a transponder chip that came out of a japan installed remote start device that fooled the stock immobilizer into thinking there is a correct key present. How do I remove the red part if this is even possible? (before digging at it with a razor blade perhaps should ask) alternatively, who currently duplicates a key in sydney. I did phone Tom at the sydney locksmith place recommended previously and he suggested I try the chip implant first.

Closed O, as per pic.

Question about r34 interior lights and bulb sizes
phelbas replied to IM-32-FK's topic in General Maintenance
You can buy an LED converted ignition barrel ring I picked up from a wrecker on gumtree if you like. I'll charge you only what I paid for it. It has a blue LED in there, it was modded by someone from the old incandescent fitment. For whatever reason this convenience feature was not on r34 GTRs. -
Question about r34 interior lights and bulb sizes
phelbas replied to IM-32-FK's topic in General Maintenance
my GTR has no ignition barrel light. The ring is opaque plastic. The cigarette ring light is 286 on the r32 it is probably the same on an R34. -

Interesting. One thing though, in the garage-yoshida pictures, they mention "of course car 127 was used in the special environment of Hokkaido, so it will take decades to reach this point in normal use," and repeatedly mention water/moisture. Rust only progresses with water (for example, driving in rain) or humidity above about 50%. Without a climate controlled garage the latter is the main risk for people who do not daily drive their r34s. I'm taking a guess that if you do not drive in rain, as a policy, or store the car in Brisbane, then the kinds of rust progression shown in the pictures are unlikely but of course the beginnings of them may become visible so it is neat to see the problem areas exposed.
-
Yeah I made a list of all the problem areas after watching. various garage defend videos and reading endless forum posts and while this is something to look at (along with rusty diffuser brackets, saggy trunk gas struts, rust on backing plate behind seat, and so on and so forth) my 19 year old R34 looks like the day it was made on the strut towers and I don't think that will change. Not every car in Japan saw road salt - many left the country while still young.

Who is an LMGT4 Center cap expert
phelbas replied to phelbas's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
thanks been searching my head off. There is much confusion over diameters not helped by two styles, o-ring type and clip type. If te37 are the same then that helps. I sent an email to rays wheels to see if I can get an answer. On facebook marketplace I found a NOS high set but black, not bronze. I guess I could get those powder coated if the correct color never appear. the nengun bronze flat caps I have are an annoyingly slightly incorrect color match for my bronze wheels just to make things more irritating. -
I WTB raised center caps for LMGT4s but they are discontinued. Am I SOL getting anything else from Rays range that will happen to fit? They are the press-in rubber ring type, not the clip type. nengun still sell the flat ones. I fancy the hub ones. If anyone has hub ones in bronze, I'll happily swap for flat, and pay $$s.

If you pull it to pieces and the cylinder bores don't show much wear and the rings look good why touch that at all unless you are paying to do it right? -
no covers great condition but expensive vs wreckers I will admit. the weird marks in the lens in the first picture are reflections, not real.
-
it doesnt take too many jay leno types around the world to absorb the best r34s that are left.
-
I don't agree. I think they are also being bought by people with deep pockets AND who have always wanted one. Of course they ALSO suspect (rightly or wrongly) they may hold their value or even appreciate further due to USA, blah blah. The ones I feel sorry for is the people in the states who are going to be buying the "best skyline they can afford" even $$$ ones they then pay Japan to garage, or store in Canada for now, not realising they've been stuck with a rolled back car, one with rust or worse, or one that will pop the moment they hammer it.

double din head unit and oil filter relocation! well that explains it

Yes, I do realise. nevertheless a bare minimum of customer service is customer service. If they don't want phone calls and queries perhaps enter the correct dates into their own customer information system, or spend 1 minute replying to one polite question, instead of ignoring it for a week.
