    Learning Japanese

I am going to be throwing myself in the deep end in August, I have limited skills (I think so), but maybe just enough to minimally survive.. I am doing a short tour first that is arranged, so I am hoping to get a feel for things before I go it alone.. I like the "Sink or Swim" idea.. At the moment I will be ahppy if I just keep my head abnove water to grab gasps of air..
  3. Hi All I am in the throws of planning my trip to Japan in August, I am doing an 8 day tour and a heap of other stuff in Tokyo, staying in a some expensive hotels, some cheap ones, a capsule hotel and a heap of other things, but that another topic all together that I will start later. The question that I have is about D1GP. I am already earmarked to go to Round 5 at Ebisu South in Nihonmatsu, but I am now extending my stay to include Round 6 at Suzuka. Now I got my details of this off of Wikipedia Link for D1GP Schedule 2006 as my Japanese reading is hopeless.. Now I am a bit anal about checking things, so I went to the Suzuka Circuit Website and check teh Calendar of events and the D1GP wasn't on there, also I have seen in other links This One to show one of the links, where it shows the event not being on Sep 9/10.. I am way too confused now, I have seen about the same amount of both (on 9/10 sep and not on those dates) so I am sceptical.. Can someone who can read Japanese, please please tell me what the Round 6 says on This Page It is the September 9/10 event.. This would be greatly appreciated.. I know that I shouldn't be worrying about this so early. But I like to plan in advance a long way.. Also, does anyone know of how I can buy tickets to these events prior to the event. I know that the tickets are only open to presale for a short time, but I would really like to get tickets in advance, so that I guaranteed a ticket. I am prepared to pay anyone that can help with this. I will pay well in advance and only want them sent to my hotel or somewhere that I can get them from.. PS. If anyone is interested in tagging along with me to these events I will be travelling to both from Tokyo on the Sunday for the main event and I am more than happy to go in a group bigger than one...

I have been looking through different learning techniques as well. As I am about to book my holiday for August (including the D1GP at Ebisu) and the few that I ahve come up with are a bit patchy as compared to the Pimsluer system, I will keep my eye out for this stuff also.. I don't believe I am at the level yet where I could watch somehting and keep up, it takes me a while to translate it in my head still..
  5. I live in the middle of nowhere, pretty much about 400kms NW of bum-f**k-killbilly-backwards-hicksville and about 150kms N of the hottest place in Australia. I work for a large Mining company who I have been with in one capacity or another for 6.5 years. Said company pays very well for the work that I do, though they pretty own me, my life, health, sanity and anything else they want.. I look at it this way, I am pretty much like a whore, but I don't do sexual stuff, I do what ever they want and I get paid very well for it.. I am essentially a multi traded worker specialising in the some key areas of the railway operation, my experience and knowledge of the system far outweighs my lack of qualifications as I am often used in an engineering role. My car is just a toy, to keep me paritally sane, though at times it makes things worse..
  6. The Part number for the EDFC, well the as the motors are all 12mm it would effectively be the "EDK01-12120" model. It will however be supplied in a box marked as 'EDK01-10100' but I can assure you that the motors are the 12mm type.. Here's a link to some extra information. TEIN EDFC Info Thats a US website and the information doesn't fully cover all of the import models, but it does give all the necessary information. I suggest downloading the instructions, see how it works and where it attaches and then have a look at your HA's..
  7. Hey Chard, hows that GTS4 of yours going? Had it down the Plex yet? We need to get that thing on a dyno day to get some baseline figures out of it..

    Learning Japanese

Well I am planning ona trip in Aug/Sep and I have now been learning for about a month, I am hoping to have a small grasp on the basics by the time I go there. The main issue for me is that I am in a country town with minimal ability to find someone with native Japanese tongue. The local High School teaches Japanese, I am thinking of attempting to get some private tutopring from the Japanese Teacher once I get a bit more under my belt.. My amin issue at the moment is stringing together a lot of words. I can do short sentences without too much of an issue, but once the sentence or phrase goes more than abotu 6 words I start to get flustered..

    Learning Japanese

I am currently doing the Pimsleur system on MP3. Quite good, they teach you actual words and phrases that you would and do use.. Each lesson is about 25 minutes in length and there is 24 lessons per unit, I have unti 1,2 and 3. I am upto lesson 12 in unit 1 and I think I have enough to barely survive in Japan unassisted for a few days. I can do all the usual stuff, food, drink, thanks, hello, goodbye, what is the time etc.. I actually got the Pimsleur System off of a File Sharing network, along with a heap of files and documents etc for learning Japanese.. I have tried a number of other ways to learn and nothing has been as simple and easy (and fun) as this System. As an example, I am putting thefirst lesson on my site for you to try, it is 18MB, so be patient.. It is uploading right now.. Here is the link http://yorik.biz/Pimsleur%20-%20Japanese%2...Lesson%2001.mp3 If you like this system, I am sure that we can work something out..
  10. Hi Basically it will fit HA's that have the thumbwheel adjustable Dampeners on the top and have 12mm threads on them. My R32 GTR HA's have 10mm threads, I don't know what size the GTST ones are.. Best to measure the thread below the thumbwheel adjuster. Shouldn't take too long to do. Cheers Yorik

  12. I have received the photo from the vendor and have hosted at the below link for him. I am also interested in the wheels, but have to look into freight, I am happy if someone else gets them, just thought I would help him out instead of having to send the pic out from his phone a heap of times. Wheel Pic Here.. Lets see if we can embed the picture aswell.. Like I said, I am interested, not sure about organising the freight bit yet, have no idea how to get them from there to Karratha in WA, living in the middle of no where sucks..
  13. Um, I only have Time Slips form when I only just got the car (about 2hrs worth of driving) I suppose GTech times don't count.. But here is my best time for now. R32 GTR Bridgestone RE's Ultimate 98 ET - 12.78 @ 110 60' 2.079 Slip link - Slip Here. Movie of Run - Movie of Run As mentioned before not the best, but I am getting flat 12's now on the Gtech in 35+ deg heat on crap NW WA roads *cough* I mean tracks.. 19. Sorry I sold it already, thought I had poosted it up here as sold. I ap0ologise..
  20. With the speed of stepper motors these days it really is of no consequence the speed comparison of the Mech to Elect.. Of course some elect are crap, I prefer Turst guages, but the best are Defi, closely followed by Apexi in my opinion.. I just have a full suite of Trust guages already and refuse to change out as it would cost a few grand for Defi..
  21. I am still addicted to Enemy Territory, in my mind it is the best online Team based Collaborative Objective FPS.. But I live in Linux, so most of those WinBlo$e games play like shite under WINE.. Might consider getting BF2 to run under wine though, could be a good little project..
  22. Yeah my mates HKS twin is damn loud.. My triple however is nice and quiet.. Just a little rattle.. Typical though my 180SX had a loud input bearing on the input shaft of the gearbox, that car made noise in nuetral with the clutch out, this one makes noise with teh clutch in, can't win...
  23. Here is a link to a calculator... http://www.yorik.biz/gtr/tyresizer.zip Basically try and keep the tyres the same and rim width close. I run 245/45/17's on my 8" and 9" Work rims for fun stuff, but for more serious I run 255's all round on my 9" AVS rims.. I am considering dropping 255's on the Work rims just to make it a bit closer.. of course if you are concerned about the 4WD factor, you can always disable it for longer drives..
