I posted your VIN and got the following reply from the FAST software. It confirms your car was originally a GTS (non turbo). If you are happy with a brake upgrade from the yard, and everything else checks out OK, no worries. If they advertised the car as a GTSt (turbo) you are probably entitled to a refund (regardless of weather they were aware or not) as they falsely represented the vehicle. Can anyone else confirm differences between the GTS and GTSt i.e. transmission, diff, brakes (anything else) The link to the FAST thread is here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...0entry1879310

Thanks, I'll pass on the news to him.

Can someone please run this VIN through and see what they get vin-ER33-052113 A guy in SA purchased this as an R33 GTSt but we believe it may be a non turbo with an engine swap. (but they didnt swap the 4 stud wheels) Thanks

Congratulations.

PS - Nice looking car and welcome to SAU I'm not trying to have a go at you or your car, but if a dealers warrantee will fix it for you (free of charge) why not use it. If nothing else its an upgrade you wont have to do later. PS - why would the yard have the car inspected by Regency, if it was complied locally surly the workshop covers that, and if it was complied interstate all they require is a VIN check.

Nissan decided to go for 5 stud and larger brakes with the more powerful turbo engine (which makes sense), without an engineer to prove those wheels (4 stud) and smaller brakes are equal to, or exceed Nissan specifications they consider it a defect. They are not prepared to approve it themselves (because that would require them to take responsibility if something went wrong) and from the common sense point of view why would you want smaller brakes on a more powerful car. Check the forums but I doubt anyone o here is advocating a change to non-turbo brakes to reduce weight (yet they sometimes go to extreme measures and expense to save 1 or 2 Kg - think carbon fibre Vs Fibreglass bonnets) Have a chat with regency (but dont give them any personal details) to confirm this, then take it back to the dealer and insist they rectify it for you. (thats what warranty is for. - You may even be able to get them to install a boost guage (aftermarket would be cheaper) so that you can ensure the engine isnt overboosting and reduce the risk of an engine replacement under warrantee.
-
I think you will find that those wheels are an instant defect that can only be rectified by putting 5 stud hub in (The factory did this for a reason) Get the details checked out (use the VIN) and then see the car yard you purchased it from as they are required to sell the car in a roadworthy condition. (even if they were not aware of the problem)

Mods include PFC, GCG Hi flow turbo, 3inch exhaust with split dump pipe, Front Mount, Pod with Cold air partition, Rising Rate Reg, Fuel Pump, Profec B boost Control, Valve body change in the Auto. Other mods are cosmetic.

1. Same box 2. Not 100 sure, I believe they are the same (mine is) but others have posted a different ratio. 3. Same brakes. Virtually the same car with a different body shape. I doubt most people could tell if a front cut came from a sedan or coupe. 4. not sure (I got mine local) but their are some nice ones in Australia with mods done for around 15000, so you would want to get a good price from Japan.

Hi mate - count me in.

If yours is a 4 stud it may be a non turbo that has been converted to a turbo. (not 100% sute that R33 not turbos were 4 stud, but the R32 non turbos were 4 stud) Other indicators are the badges on the front guards should be red for turbo, blue for non turbo) If you search the forums you will find someone who can decode oyur VIN and tell you what options were on the car as it left the factory. PS - anyone else notice the lack of replies to this thread compared to the last "Hi im new" post from a 19 year old GIRL. Phill, wou may get more help from some of these guys if you tell them your name is Phillis or Filicity and that you are between 16 and 20 years old.

Went to Nissan to price a stock pump - $780   I could almost replace the pump and get 550cc injectors for that amount :PBJ: I did find out today that you cant use a test light to complete a circuit But the pump works OK when you connect two wires direct from the battery. My spare pump is working, as is the one Mike gave me (thanks again Mike - I'll return the pump)

Hi Mike If you get this before you go to work, my number is 0413 648 750. Can you give me a call and let me know when and where I can catch up with you.

Fuel Pump Died - Need Help Please
4door_Sleeper replied to 4door_Sleeper's topic in General Maintenance
I tried the hit it bit prior to taking it out, it definitely a fuel pump problem. Another useful test was putting some petrol in the plenum (through a vacuum line attachment) and turned it over. It ran for about 15 seconds then died (thus not a spark problem) Checked power at the pump (tested OK) Hit the tank with a mallet – still no luck so I had it towed home and removed the pump. I think the direct connection of power to the pump (with no result) proves this is the problem. I’ll get another pump during the week. -
Thanks Guys Looking for a replacement pump on Monday (shops are mostly shut, and dont list a part for an imported Skyline) Rob, thanks for the offer, I think I will wait because its such a bastard of a job to remove the cap in the tank, only want to do it once if I can. Has anyone priced a pump (and possibly a new tank cap), what should I expect?

The fuel pump in Di's R33 died last night after she picked mu up from the Schutzenfest (pity it didn’t break down on the way there - I could have had more drinking time) anyway, after the RAA towed us home I took the standard pump out and applied 12V across it (nothing happened). I then tried to use my old pump (from the upgrade on my car) and nothing happened either (it may have seized after sitting on the shelf for 12 months) Has anyone got a standard pump I could borrow/buy to get the car going? Repco were no help as they don’t list a part, and Nissan wont be open until Monday. Any help appreciated. Guy

My fuel pump died in the wife’s skyline last night, had to get towed home. I have taken the pump out and applied power to it (1xpower, 1xearth) and it wont turn over. Tried the same on a old pump I took out of my car (to upgrade to a better pump) but it refused to turn over either (could have just seized after sitting on the shelf for 12 months) Should the pump turn over when power is applied (direct from the battery) or is their a safety mechanism that will stop it from turning unless its emersed in fuel? Thanks

Automatic Transmission Shift Kit. - Updated Oct 2006
4door_Sleeper replied to 4door_Sleeper's topic in Group Buys
I spoke to mike the other day about a new group buy for torque converters. He told me that a 2800rpm stall would be a good street level unit (foot on the brake and you should be able to push the stall out to 3200rpm) that is drivable at 60kmhr. He will do a group discount again for us, but he may need to get a few satandard torque converters in first as in the past he has modified them as they come out of the car, and this would result in a slower turn around. I will post more later. Abo Bob - have you thought about putting a PFC in the car and trying that, as you said you dont meed the ignition to retard on gear changes anymore, so why use the auto ecu? (you could even try a stock manual ecu in the car) -
Is she still employed as a bouncer at that bike club ??

Hi Andrew, I trying to wrangle a leave pass, if I get it I'll come with you. PM me a time and place

Hmmm.... a car web site filled with testosterone pumped boys, then a 19 year old female post a (Southern American accent on) "Hi all- I think something got stuck in my undercarage", its just like throwing chips to seagulls    Now if you want someone with a bit more time and experience B) (dont tell my wife I posted this ...... PLEASE)

Congrats on the bub. Have you tried a trade-in for a sedan or Stagea at an import car yard (normal yards will insult with their valuations) I think I saw a sedan on North East Rd at Redline???
-
With those combustion temps it will be a little puff of smoke and long gone by now. Dont worry about it (but dont do it again)
-
I'ts a ploy to be ready in case they re-introduce the 15 year rule again, and Andrew is going to have the first R34 complied under that system (hope the paintwork holds up, it will probably be faded by the time its complied)

I must be one of the few who enjoy their jobs. I work in education but became a bit frustrated with the daycare side of the job, so I moved sideways into health and education and I love it.
