mark also noticed we are hitting fifth a lot earlier than we use to, do you know what speed you were on the front straight as marks speed was up alot from other visits there, some of it is tyres( i think ) we had a lot more grip than we normally do as we were running mediums and normally we run hards & 4wd and alignment is spot on at the moment. would be quicker if the car had firmer suspension and swaybars but it is all a compromise with doing motorkhanas and circuits in the rain and soforth. i will get a copy to you with much better quality john. cheers russ p.s i reckon a race around the creek would be awsome against your car

hey guys yeah mark looks like that we he is driving he has a really relaxed driving style, me on the other hand look like i am ringing it's neck and going slower for it.it's all about keeping very high speed, if you have a look where he picks 5th on the front straight you'll know how quick he is going as we change fourth to fifth at at about 220 kph so around 245kph/250 on the front straight. also need to remember it's a low 10 sec car and you need to respect the throttle or it bites! cheers russ

Ikeya Formula Squen Shifter
giant replied to NIZ-26T's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yes ours is a ppg box, it may very well have been just dodgy shifter that we recieved but looking at how the pegs were manufactured it didnt look like they would last very long ( i do believe they could be replaced with a billet setup for extra strength) -
i reckon that's a great idea!

i did try one on our car, it broke within ten minutes ( the dog engagement was to harsh for it) snapped the ratcheting pegsoff. cheers russ p.s i have been told the ones for evo's, cable shift ones work heaps better , very different in design. -
f#$k it!!! is there a website for it?? and hey guys are any of you coming up for the next circuit battle round?? would be good to catch up again
-
hi Roy, it was a good buy just wish it was on the track, cant wait to get it going(should be in July) the cylinderhead for it is a work of art (huge cam and good port work for big revs and a dry sump), and the brakes are crazy (carbon fibre rotors of a jaguar lemans car) the seat isnt for sale yet but it may when we get the car going , if we sell it i'll let ya know. cheers russ
-
i told i will sell ya a perfectly good one with a front diff !!
-
AND YEAH GTR = SUPREME!!
-
mainly for longevity, dog gears last longer with clutch use (dont round the corners off as much) especially with so much load on the gears with 4wd grip. and as snowy said helps if you miss shift too , which happens. cheers russ
-
yeah we always use the clutch for up & downshifts, but you can do very fast gearchanges even with clutch use. thanks cam! mark was real happy with the times, hope to see ya for dutton nsw (car looks like it's coming along good) cheers russ

gdday mate ummm there is a new class called JDM details below New JDM racing category A new circuit racing category for cars produced for the Japanese Domestic market (JDM), is set to have its first run at Queensland Raceway on March 24th and 25th. The category will be run as part of round 1 of the new QR Championships and will include two classes to run simultaneously over both days. The two classes will include an “Elite†class which will be more along the lines of an improved production class and a “Club†class which will be more open to modifications. Although both classes will be run together, there will be two separate championships with points allocated for each class. It is envisaged that each race meeting will consist of two practice/qualifying sessions and four races over the two days. Currently the QR Championships are to be held over four race meetings throughout 2007 and with the possibility of Lakeside Raceway becoming available later in the year, there is a chance this circuit could be included in the 2008 championship. The organisers have also expressed interest in taking the class to a national level, with the inclusion of some interstate tracks and its own national championship. Listed below are some of the basic regulations for both classes. Please keep in mind that these are still open to change at this stage as the classes are fine tuned to suit competitors. ELITE CLASS This class will be for any mass produced car for the Japanese Domestic Market. The idea being these cars will retain the looks and basic engine and driveline configuration of the base vehicle. Bodywork – Original, as per manufacturers specs. Engine – Original block and heads. Increases in capacity are acceptable. Engine internals are free. Bolt on mods are free. Transmission – Original gearbox casing. Aftermarket gear sets etc are acceptable. Remaining driveline components are free. Wheels – Free, providing they fit inside the original guards. Tyres – Free, providing they stay inside the original bodywork. There is the possibility a limit of road legal R spec tyres may be introduced at a later date. Brakes – Free Suspension – Free Fuel – Unleaded. CLUB CLASS This class will be for any chassis/bodyshell from a car produced for the Japanese Domestic Market. It will allow for more modifications in bodywork, engines and transmissions. Bodywork – Chassis and bodyshell to remain as per manufactures specs. Essentially the rest is free at this stage but other items such as front and rear spoilers, replacement doors and guards etc will be fine tuned at a later date. Engine – Any engine from a JDM car Transmission – Any transmission from a JDM car Wheels – Free Tyres – Free Brakes – Free Suspension – Free Fuel – Unleaded There have also been discussions in relation to having more classes, including naturally aspirated etc and these will depend on whether we can get enough competitors to run a separate class. With the category currently in it’s infancy we are happy to take feedback from interested parties to help mould it into shape. If you are interested in any further details please contact Cameron Wilson on 0419768662 or myself via a reply here and we look forward to your support at the track for our first outing.
