pics to come
just so you know, my engine was a brand new r33 n1 engine which failed the oil pump gear twice, which i believe was very much related to the type of activity we use the car for.
cheers russ
Taso84
one of thing that can often be mixed up as axle tramp, is tailshaft centre bearing movement causing the tailshaft to whip when taking off, we had this on our car & we had pineapples, thought it was a stuffed shock.
fitted new centre bearing & all good!!
may help cheers russ
frankxinyu without atleast a big sump ( or at the very least overfilling a standard sump) you a just going to be a rb26 statistic, i have been to quite a few sprints, circuits & rallies in the last two years and it's so depressing seeing another gtr getting towed home with a bigend knock.
i have also killed to n1 pumps!
it appears from my experience (which is limited) to be the type of application that you use your car for,
there is another thread on this somewhere? if drag racing your car and your harsh ignition cuts or launch control it does seem to play apart in breaking the oil pump gears. mine failed with rally use but we also were using lots of launch control and heaps of launches. some circuit cars would not see the problem as they do not launch them anywhere near as often.
also i now use a tomei supplied by high octane as it has been great, no issues at all and cost a lot lessthan a very damaged engine as we also found out. you must remember though that these pumps also pump a lot more oil and require big sumps and lots of oil return or you will end up hurtingthe engine anyway or spitting it all out the breather, especially if your doing pleanty of above 6000 rpm driving.
cheers russ
spot on beer baron
i also run a one piece tailshaft and havent had any issues, fantastic!
we were having problems with the two piece shaft destroying center bearings after a hundred odd launches, (which incidently feels like axle tramp when the bearing has to much movement)
btw ours is a carbon fibre one piece, rated at two thousand horsepower.. big unis (i think it cut about six kg's off the weight)
cost was 1800 delivered
and we give our car a very hard time on launching. cant recomment them enough
cheers russell
good job snowy! must have shit ya knowing the power of your machine!
and roy i know what ya mean the rally can become quite expensive
