  2. relays are sprung so any way they go doesnt matter when not in use tehy wont fall down unless spring has sprung its last spring cheaper relays cheaper springs cant beat the bosch 150 relay so many uses so versitile even has a lug so you can screw it down thast my experianc
  3. you need to get a diode protected relay or install a diode in the earth wire on the relay that will stop the relay from engaging they require milli amps to engage thats the beauty of a relay little current to trigger put a relay on it and woohoo your fixed unless your relay is shgged in the contacts catchya !
  4. thats fine too anything above 13.5 is healthy im not too sure what you mean by temperature but im certain temperature has nothing to do with it the only thing i can think of is that there are more ancillarys running on a cold start up on a car, plus a starter motor has just taken fair wack of the batterys static charge out of the battery the alternator now has to replenish the battery so on initial start up they alternator will charge at a high voltage and higher Amperage which will charge the battery up smoothly and quickly so it will start again later on well thats what i was taught so hmmm
  5. a resistor would fry lol sorry but you would need a dam large one to get voltage down that far on the alt any thing up to 14.7 is ok anything above and well you need to look at why is it so high if its like 14.8 all the time then tis ok regardless of lights on or off its fine newer cars these days are asking for more volts so alternators have to keep up with every thing so they charge a little up there' nothing excessive but just so computers and what not dont cut out because of volt drop the only bad thing is because alternators are at 14.6 volts all the time it doesnt do a battery which has a static charge 0f around 12.8, so its getting over charged thats why batteries dont last as long as they use to older cars have bugger all electrics so the alt never really worked that much electronics in cars are rated from 8 volts to 16 thats the range roughly but for prolonged overcharging with the computer close to alternator will do damage eventually not to mention globes blowing, cd player doin weird things but getting back to pauls it could be a simple wires broke to the regulator on the alternator which the regulator uses to sense battery voltage to keep the battery healthy if the wire is broken it will sense the battery voltage to be 0 so it will try and compensate for it ie Overcharge but also there can be other things in the alt which will cause it to over charge but when that happens the reg blows first then no charging at all well bugger me dead i didnt know i could babble so much about work related stuff hope this fills in the blanks for any one who wants to read it cheers

  8. compressors can range from $400 to 2500 for stupid euro rubbish i think 1000 was good value considering tx was replace not to sure where it is in skylines but im sure it would be hard against the firewall so heater box out fan motor glove box etc. i think you did alright
  9. i do air con but im 100 kays from melb and well with air con it gets expensive quick on well i know its not old but older than 5 years , but it really depends on what is wrong if you post symptons and quotes i can give you a ball park on price cheers
  10. had a good day good to see my car is still consistant of last time it was dynoed only thing when i went out to my car to go home i realised we did the dyno runs on 14psi instead of 16, so i would of made more kw's oh well next time i guess good to have chat with every one cheers to paul and dark for the photos you cant see the dints in the light makes my car look great and as ash would say internally gated screamers sound shit i personally would have one external is a different story cheers

  12. jimx i doesnt neccesarly mean your reg is shot alts on new cars use a battery sense wire this tells the regulator the conditon of the batty pull the two pin plug off at the reg check with a test light check to see if it has battery sense at one of the pins if no then thats where i would start lookin try and find where that battery sense has gone also check to see if you have warning light by putting the earth clip onto pos and probing the two pin plug you should get a dull glow if you check in side the car for a batt light being on do all this with the key on cheers hope that helps

  15. im an auto elec i do cars, boats,truck, excavators old foggie buggys golf carts, (thats fun to hoon up the road on!!) pretty much any thing wit a motor starters,alternators,air con, engine wiring ie injection in old cars
  16. i got mine from a bus panel beater its the same mesh that they use in the ventelation on the rear engine bay doors the ony reason i put it on was to stop birds from dint and hitting my cooler cost be 20 bucks for a huge square i just cut it down and bent to suit
  17. hi im posting this thread for a customer who has come into my work with a few questions regarding a conversion he hopes to do he currently is running an EH holden with a rb30 and 5 spd box now he was toying with the idea of puttin in an rb25det now being an auto elec i raised a few questions with myself and quiet frankly cant find the answer!!! the engine he is looking at is out of an auto which leads me to beleive that it wont run correctly because it doesnt have an auto box with it, also considering is there a powerfc for an auto ? or worst case scenario we put a manual ecu in although pins will be in wrong places has any one ever moved pins on a nissan ecu plug ive done it before on a au falcon computer but havent tried on anything else or would the easier option would be to microtech or link or if $$$$ autronic i think that is the easier way but i dont think he has the $$$ is there anything other than a ecu light that i will need to wire in with exception of all standard ancillarys is the second sensor in the cat convertor neccessary?? he also assures me that the rb25 block will bolt up and mate with a vl 5sp box can any one confirm this??? hope some one can throw me some light cheers sorry for the novel

  24. hi im looking for a waste gate spring for my garret 42mm gate currently it has an 11 pound i was hoping to get a 7 pound and use a boost controller to run higher boost when need ive tried ringing round ie. garret and a few other turbo mobs in melb but to no avail does any one have any ideas on who i can ring or what i can do also im looking for a electronic boost controller any type really cheers
