Zanda - yeah the back end is still 180'd..... But its only the zorst. I am just thankful I got my car. I have money saved from trying to save for a new car, so I can use that to fix her up.
-
Fane - yep, if I hadnt had the stat dec signed that he would pay the loan off I would have no basis for a fraud charge. Interpol was onto him as well for it.....

Hi everyone I got a phone call last week from "the c0ckheads" bank, saying he had paid up and I could have my car next week when the cheque clears. I didnt tell too many people incase.... it didnt happen. But I just got the confirming call - my car is being charged up right now and I can pick it up first thing saturday morning!! For those who dont know - my car was repo'd in August when the person I bought if off didnt pay out his loan, and he ran to the UK with my money. Yes I rang REVs!! But a few fraud charges later...... I finally have my car. I pretty much cried when I found out.... its been a long 7 months. I just wanted to say thankyou to everyone who supported me, gave me advice, offered me lifts, took me on cruises etc. You are all wonderful people!!! Thanks again Liz xxx

illegal street racing is very dangerous Mike.... people are standing metres away from the cars, all it takes is for one mistake and alot of people are hurt. There are no safety barriers or anything, like what is at the plex

yes - its like colateral on your loan - some banks will encumber the vehicle others wont. What it means, if you default on the loan the bank takes the car to get its money back.

OK guys - what do you think about this law to be introduced??? Constructive criticism - no stupid comments like "police can suck my D ick" Plan for hoon laws 01mar04 CAR hoons could lose both their vehicles and their driver's licence under tough new laws to be introduced to the West Australian Parliament. Police Minister Michelle Roberts said the "anti-hoon" legislation, due to be introduced in the next few weeks, followed 60 deaths related to reckless and dangerous during the past 12 months. The proposed laws would allow police to seize and impound the vehicles of people caught drag racing or doing burnouts. A first offence would result in a car being impounded for up to 48 hours, but second-time offenders could have their licence suspended and their car impounded for up to three months. A third offence would mean forfeiture of the vehicle and the cancellation of a driver's licence. "These hoons have no respect for the law or other people in the community," Mrs Roberts said. "Their reckless, selfish and dangerous behaviour not only threatens their own lives, but other innocent people using the road system." She said the community had a right to feel safe and that is why she would push to have hoons removed from the streets. Mrs Roberts said seven of the 60 deaths during the past year occurred in six weeks. "In one incident, the two young occupants of a car were travelling at more than 160kph down a freeway before the driver lost control and crashed into an embankment," she said.

Well at least you got a letter - a truck drove up to my driveway and dragged the car off it while i was in Singapore - August 2003. I did do a REVS check, I was aware the car was encumbered, I had the previous owner sign a statuary Decleration that he would pay his loan out with my cheque. He didnt - instead ran to the UK with my money.. I have now have a fraud charge against (as he defaulted on a signed contract) him and I am in constant contact with his bank to try and sort this mess out. What I should have done is made the cheque out to his bank. I saw about 3 lawyers and they told me about extradition proceedings etc, which I cannot afford. They told me that we fall in a crack in the law where the banks debt comes first, not yours. If they have repossesed the vehicle, no doubt the bank will have some sort of charge against him. YOu can PM me of you want... I can try and help you out as best I can from what I am going through right now.

query: moderation of WA and the board in general
Sneeza replied to zanda's topic in Western Australia
OK - threads get locked or removed when they are defamatory or gone way off topic. Instead of just locking a thread that has gone off topic - maybe the mods can ask that people stay "on topic" and if it happens again, then lock it, that way people were at least warned. With the defamatory comments - ie mentioning mechanics names etc..... The mods have the privs to edit other peoples threads right...well use this priv! Remove the names and post a comment saying that you did this. -

Troy - all of your comments are very valid - however if you need to repremand individual members, do you think this would be better done through a PM? Isnt there a warning system on SAU for this sort of thing?? Punish in private, praise in public? Just my opinion..... -

Free speech is not part of our constitution - hence we can be charged with defamation.... we dont live in America Kym -
Thats what someone did with my 180sx wreck - and that was a crap load worse than the skyline. Now some poor bastard is driving around in that car.
-
Sileighty was talking about it actually at the pub - paul and lauren... he was talking about it in a more casual setting though.... but same general idea.
-
We were discussing this very thing last night at the pub!! I will bring it up at the next SAU meeting for discussion. It is a very good idea.

There is some sort of time limit that you have to register the car once in WA. You need to ring the transport department to find out.

23...... 23 is the dumbest number hahahaha

If it is a good stereo they usually put this anti-theft tape across it. I imported my own car and it had guages and stuff - nothing went missing at all. But other people have had stuff go missing. Your car isnt likely to be dented to scratched - they pack the cars in super tight on the ship, but they are careful. Your car will be pretty dirty as well when is comes in. I have only ever heard of the stuff going missing on the Japan end of things, not from when it arrives in Australia. As with anything - this is a risk you're taking. I didnt have any problems but other people did... you can look at insurance on the ship... but I am not sure about how that works
-
I took my skyline to Mobil Como - well I think its Liberty now, but its on Labouchere rd. His dad imports jap cars in NZ and gets alot of parts from there. Very good mechanic. He did the major service - timing belt and all for a decent price.
-
Nah - thats the same age as me!

PSIKO - I sent Jimih a PM about what year he was at roley.... havent heard anything yet! Curious to know
