  1. Hey all. Got a new turbo bolted on, a Garrett GT30R-IWBB hybrid with ported Nissan front/rear housings Nissan 45V4 Front ported / modified Intake housing Nissan 6-bolt Rear ported / modified Exhaust housing Modified Water and braided Oil lines, Gates oil return pipe Garrett ball bearing core, internal wastegate, GT3071R Garrett plate # IMM120880 700177-3 Compressor Wheel Dia Trim A/R Ind-53.1mm Exd-71.0mm 56 0.50 Turbine Wheel Dia Trim A/R 56.5mm 84 0.64 Modified by ATS Adelaide Turbo Services - $2500 kit price http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...1R_700382_3.htm Everything is on after a little drama; split oil return pipe on rundown test, fixed. Using 3.5L of Penrite 15-50w, 1L of Fuch 10-40w, and added 600ml with oil additives, such as Wynns Supreme Oil Charge & Nulon Performance Engine Treatment in 11 days the oil + fuel filters will be changed and oil will be 5L of Martini Racing Sint 60R/T 10-60w In that time the RB25det is running a tune to suit the previous Highflow turbo, a Slide Nissan hybrid with journal bearings for the next 11 days I intent to baby it mostly, but can adjust the Apexi SAFC-II and SITC piggybacks on the fly. As it is she's running rich atm. Any preferences in the way to "Run-In" a new garrett ball bearing turbo? Should the radiator fluid be changed again in 11 days before the dyno tune? Any thoughts on ramping on the turbo, ie I havent gone past 7psi yet, mainly going to 2psi, hold then back off then 4psi, hold then backoff then 6psi, ramping it as such. Going to do a little run tonight in the Hills, want to ramp it thru to 14psi for 100kms or so, build up the heat and get some wear into the turbo / oil. Wont be holding down the throttle or giving it all until after the dyno tune on 21st May. Any thoughts on driving until then, to run-in a ball bearing turbo? cheers. Hopefully the tune reaps 240rwkw. we'll see. 2. had it all finished yesterday arvo GT30R + poncams is niiiiice tune in 11 days time, so Im simply babying her atm.
  3. oil and water lines will need to be modified, but if it's got 6-boltholes at the rear of the turbo exhaust housing she'll bolt on as is, if only 5 bolts then you'll need to redo your dump/front pipe setup to suit the turbo exhaust housing but yeah, water line will need to be completely redone, same with oil. best to talk to your local professional . . . . . im currently installing my GT30r at the moment, the bottom oil return hard pipe is too long, split the rubber pipe that goes back to the block..... doh. got to cut this hardpipe to allow a better straight join (not some S join as it would be atm), make good/clean, and install a L pipe done up. done. phew. big hands get in the way.
  4. cheers ! nah its all good. will get to it soon and take my time will need to just take off the intake pipes (2+ turbo air pod feed pipes) and then will be at the bottom of the turbo to take off and replace the split oil return feed rubber line no biggie, just a fair bit of oil pooling in my garage LOL got my sons birthday bbq tomorrow, so will undo tonight and hoefully have replaced tomorrow night / sunday. sigh*
  5. bah ! now there is a split on the oil-return pipe underneath, from the turbo back to the block dble damn!
  6. nice yeah darren the hole in the engine bay airbox area had cut a slice thru the black original silicone joiner, after 12yrs cheers chris, will do. yeah the battery was dead, was charging till 9 last night then went around the block, dumped oil, didnt do up a bolt that holds the stock water line (i took off earlier) onto the block. heading out right now to grab some more oil, just a small bottle. then will test again booked for 2 weeks time for a tune, on the little drive around the block it belt completely different to the other turbo. wow. anyways got2go.
  7. MAN thats awesome I keep trying lotto but havent won, yet congrats go 264's I reckon will be good with some porting work
  8. chat to shaun at Boostwerks
  9. Id say Buy a 20yr to 30yr old home on 700m2 live in it for however long, dont go overboard on keeping everything totally 100% upspec and renovated after 7yrs or so demolish the house and yard and sell as 2x 350m2 blocks. I started at 18yrs old 1996 woodcroft 90k 3bed 1bath small house, sold for 210k in 2003, current home is M/vale worth 350k-390k, owe 90k on it atm so glad I got into the market early on. my knees were buggered and felt it was most important to do - hold down a f/time job and buy a small house. didnt travel or waste any $, put it into the morgage month by month
  10. MASSIVE THANK YOU goes out to Adam (chef stagea) and Chris (kidafa) for offering to come over and help finish up. Id arranged an mobile auto bloke to come out tomorrow for an hour or so, but Adam rang me and said he'd help out ! so I knuckled back down and got the turbo oil line on, did the manifold bolts up, got the block oil lead on tight and had a 15' C-spanner cut ready to access the turbo oil feed to tighten it up when the lads arrived. quick iced coffee / woodstock & a chat and they got into it, wasnt much to be done and an hour later most was all good dead battery and time constraints for the lads meant we couldnt start her up. will tick the engine over in an hours time. check for oil/water and thats that tune time, unless it needs some tightening or reworking, etc so, cheers for Adam and Chris for their help. greatly appreciated. No knees means my hips and back take the load, and they're rooted atm. big thankyou guys
  11. if its the 6bolt nissan rear (op6 on VG30's I think) then it will bolt up to your current setup. the front setup should be all ok too seeing its again the same original design, so will bolt up. with the core, the front of the turbo may be shortened/lengthened. pic attached to explain. GT30R Adelaide Turbo Services ball bearing internal wastegate nissan ported housings garrett core / wheels lengthened the snout as the new GT30 core is slightly shorter in size/length than the Sliding performance journal bearing highflow I took off and sold
  12. nice should grab one myself, to go with the oil filter - same spot for mine with the oil filter relocation been busy doing my turbo up, but Im seized up in the back now sux called a local mobile mechanic to come out tomorrow for an hour to finish it off - do up oil line - do up 2manifold bots +2 catconverter bolts - do up the intake / afm / vacuum lines, etc and while he's there for that hour do the oil filter (I cant get it off) and fuel line, although I regularly have them changed when with the dynomen but yeah, disappointed Ive had to call someone in to help me finish the job, so hard being so tall with no knees, asmy hips and back are all rooted now sigh*

  15. hello that is all
  16. yeah had a stock rubber black pipe with a split. my bad got the turbo yesterday, she's beautiful. awaiting the lovely missus to come back with an 18mm C spanner to finish off the braided lines then finish hooking her up. no rush just a little steady pace. garrett core: ready to go!
  17. nice, good option to do mine as well while everything is off. picked up my GT30R turbo tonight, so when the install is done I'll do a run-down clean of my engine bay going to use cans of degreaser, rags in strategic places, and then a weed-killer spray pressure backpack with warm soapy water, then cold clean water
  18. dude Im a mega braniac and even I dont understand bloody Hook turns !!
  19. mc's always fk it up imo awaiting the phone call to get on down to p/up the GT30 c'mon !!
  20. "A turbocharged model badged Salut GT turbo was introduced in 1995, this came with a 210 PS version of the SR20DET and was available only in 4WD with the automatic transmission." nice wife's car IMHO
  21. formula 1 got boring real quick in the late 1980's / early 1990's when they disallowed turbocharging mid '80s the racing was always full-on 90s got boring and the past 9yrs of this century I cant recall a stand-out race. F1 FTL
  22. nice grab 4 sets and get yours free !!
  23. oh noes !! not even a week ffs Id be majorly pissed off out of interest, how did the bearings sound prior to installation, for you to question whether it was suss or normal. Obviously it wasnt normal. Who assured you it was ok??
