Cams To Use With Hks 2835 52t Turbines
Rolls replied to Turbz_13's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Your engine is more than likely capable of high 300s if you choose the appropriate turbo. Shouldn't need to rebuild it, what turbo are you thinking of replacing it with? -
So wouldn't you rather take our advice and not waste your hard earned money? People are only trying to help dude.
-
So what exactly is it you want power, driveability ,powerband and engine bay wise?
-
Both turbos are a poor choice and will not give anything slightly resembling a linear power curve. You've been told countless times there are better turbo choices out there that will give you a nice fat power curve and good solid power for a street car. Why can't you sell them and buy an appropriate turbo set? Any mechanic worth talking to will tell you the same thing. By going a set of twins that bolt on you don't have to change anythign and it will look stock, if you go 2835s it will be a laggy piece of crap you can't drive on the street, you also won't be able to take full advantage of it due to the ridiculous amount of money needed for supporting mods, the TO4z will need lots of custom work to fit and will not look stock. Stick with some tried and true low mount twins that will give you 350kw, this will be the most linear power curve you can get for this power level. People are giving you good advice here but you don't seem to want to listen, the two turbos you have said you will consider are not good choices, why do you insist on sticking with them? You mean people that are just telling you what you want to hear? Why don't you just go talk to a mirror if you want to use the 2835s?

Best Handling Nissan And Why Out Of R32,33,34, S13,14,15
Rolls replied to Rolls's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah I'm sure it has a much stiffer chassis and a few other things up its sleeve, I guess I just wanted to hear if there was anything else. -
Diy R34 Manual Conversion Using R33 Parts
Rolls replied to E_Lu-SHuN's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
How do you get the spiggot bush out the auto motor, Ive got a slide hammer which fits the manual one but the big fitting is too big and the small fitting is too small, aside from buying another slide hammer how else can I try and get it out? -
Yeah it is not coming out any time soon, will try and get a replacement. Can anyone confirm if the VL/R31 skylines do indeed have knock sensors?
-
smaller combustion chamber and 26 rods to make up the compression, guess I will find out soon.
-
I guess we really need a workshop manual to see what the exact differences are, that would surely have things like that in it.
-
I was told the neo's had larger valves and a smaller combustion chamber, much like that of the 26.
-
If you are flowing the same air (same turbo and equivalent boost levels) shouldn't the higher compression give you more torque hence power? Higher compression ratio = higher percentage of energy extracted.
-
ah sweet, it looked like a sealed piece due to the grease but there was a rubber bit in the end which comes out, not really sure how to get to the wire in there though, seems stuck.
-
the vg30det is a massive motor which doesn't really fit in anyone's engine bay and is a pig to work on, also most of them have overheating issues in the 300zx due to inadequate cooling so they have earned a bad reputation. VCT stands for variable cam timing, I really have no idea why they don't put it in the 26, I can't imagine it really adds much to fail and it adds midrange to the car which is always useful. But yeah with the VCT and higher comp, if you had the same turbo surely the neo 25 would make a bit more power than the 26?
-
Yeah ripped the wire out of the metal terminal, but there is no way to pull the metal terminal out and solder a new wire on, its stuck in there. So what else uses these knock sensors as I don't know of any wreckers with r32/r33s, might call an import shop and see if they have any lying around though.
-
The actual knock sensor plug, but if I can grab the loom with the loom plug and both knock sensor plugs that'd be even better as my remaining plug is very very brittle, however I didn't think stock rb30s actually had knock sensors? Also where have you been cubes, haven't seen you on here in years? Cheers
-
Hey so I busted my knock sensor plug ripping the wire out of it, it looks like a pretty bloody weird plug, does anyone know where I would get a replacement plug I can wire up, or a whole knock loom (2 plugs and a connector), is this something nissan or an auto elec would stock? It needs to wire into an r32 rb20 loom but I'm pretty sure the plugs are the same for r32/33/34

Ah yep makes sense, yeah I wasn't thinking it would inflate power figures, just thought it was strange.

Which Has More Potential In The Long Run?
Rolls replied to TurboDoseBro's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I had a go at you? When? Sorry but I do not remember. -
I've heard internally the VCT works different on a NEO, but externally it is the same (an on off solenoid), I have no idea what the internal difference is though. But yeah, surely there is no reason why the rb26 gets a higher rev limit, surely this is why they blow up so often with people setting redlines at 9k? If someone said they were revving their 20 or 25 to 9k everyone would think they are loopy. edit: apparently the rev limit is 8200rpm on the 26, it is 7200 I am fairly sure on the 25.

I guess it is possible there is an adjustable fuel reg. I am confused, the ambient temp is whatever is in the room, I can't see how the IT can be lower than this, a fan blowing would at best make the air the same temperature as that in the room, though it is far more likely it will be higher due to the heat soak around the radiator, pipes, turbo etc causing the IT to be higher even with a fan blowing. What am I missing?

Which Has More Potential In The Long Run?
Rolls replied to TurboDoseBro's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I hate quoting pictures but do you have a high resolution version of this pic (eg background res). Thanks Also I know you guys wanted this thread to die but I picked up on a comment about the closer to 50:50 split they ran the faster their lap times. Is this a predominantly RWD that progresses to 50:50 upon loss of traction, or was it permanently 50:50? Cheers. -
See I never got why rb26s get a higher rpm limit, in Bathurst they limited them to 7k not 9k which certainly says something to me. Also this might be wrong but I see a lot more blown up rb26s than I do rb25s, could this be due to the higher rpm limit? What allows them to safely rev higher, is it really any safer than revving say a 25 that high?
-
If you get a nistune lots, uses the stock ECU with a chip that gives it almost as much functionality as an aftermarket ECU, highly recommended. If it is stock unless he has a failing fuel pump I can guarantee it will be too rich, upping the boost will probably not increase the power due to it upping the fuel map.
-
Sounds like that is basically what the neo is lol, 50cc of capacity is nothing. edit: The earlier rb26s had 8.5:1 compression, do the R34 rb26s also have 8:5 ? cause the neo has 9:1 edit2: apparently they do, imo that makes the neo quite a bit better than the 26
