  1. It's formally a Trust TD07S, but has been modified into a hybrid T66/T04R. Cheers, matt
  2. kangaroo whilst driving a mates gtr back from queensland! matt
  3. Nope bore on the 25/26/30 are the same... It's the stroke that differs. matt
  4. I think you're referring the hypereutectic (high silicon steel) pistons? These seem to be the mid-way between forged pistons and cast. They're almost as strong as forged but retain the low expansion rate of cast... Probably a better option in a daily driven street car... BTW - Forged pistons are a lot harder on the rings than regular cast pistons too... I've got stock big ends in mine, and so long as your engine has good clearances and you use a high grade oil, you should be right there... Just make sure you've got an enlarged sump (baffled if possible), and an oil cooler if you can afford it. Oil temps are one thing you don't want to mess around with. matt
  5. Another point, is that a lot of the Merc's that have forgies use offset gudgeon pins which seem to help them when they're cold. The higher quality materials used in the creation of the piston also means that they have less thermal expansion due to heat, and so the cold "slapping" in the bores you hear with a lot of forged piston motors isn't there. My RB25/30 uses stock rods (shot peened & nitrided) and makes over 300rwkw, and ran 124mph in street trim so the power is genuine. I've been told that 500 ft/lbs is the safe limit for these rods and no more than 7500rpm. 550 and they will bend within a short period of time. My car is sitting on both and has been running fine for over a year. Cheers, matt
  6. Thanks for those figures, that'll come in handy next time I race how did it help your 60' times? matt
  7. Munro, I don't think anyone minds It's good to see you posting on these forums! When you sell those brakes drop me a line I've been looking for GTR brembo's for ages, every time a set comes up, they're snapped up straight away! matt
  8. heh - that's a good point Gotta love competition! matt
  9. Munro, What sort of single are you looking at putting in? My mechanic's single turbo'd RB26/30DET made near 500rwkw (on 103 octane unleaded), and builds boost almost as quickly as my car does (t66 on rb25/30det)... Cheers, matt
  10. Easiest way to tell, is to have a look around the manifold, and if there is a leak, there'll probably be a grotty section where the air is leaking out. Cheers, matt
  11. Adam, Yeah but his car doesn't seem to have any problems making boost, which would indicate that there isn't any damage to the turbo... I've had a busted thrust bearing on a different turbo which caused the compressor wheel to grind itself into the housing... This didn't even make any noise, the car just wouldn't make the same amount of boost! matt
  12. I had my turbo high flowed at ATS in adelaide... Cost me about 2k from memory (2 years ago)... They're good if you're just chasing an extra 20rwkw, but if you want to make a decent amount of power, just put the extra $$$ to a new turbo. The housings (comp and exhaust) are too small to make big power. matt
  13. Lozza150's right on the ball. The screaming noise you're hearing is air escaping from between either the exhaust manifold and the block or the exhaust manifold and the turbo. My car did the same thing, you'll probably need to unbolt it, replace the gasket and re-bolt it back up. Cheers, matt
  14. Great time! Have you had the turbo off the car? Mine came off and had a modified front wheel, and the ceramic rear wheel was changed. You might have gotten lucky too! Excellent times none-the-less! matt
  15. hehehehe - very good Imagine driving that thing in traffic! matt
  16. Don't touch any of them if you want a streetable car. I've seen a Trust TD06 put on a GTS25-t... It made 240rwkw, however, it didn't have any power before 5000rpm. I had a trust TD07S on my car, and I made 310rwkw @ 14psi, however I've got a 3ltr motor. Even in it's stock trim, it was particularly laggy, so I'd hate to see it on a 2.5 ltr motor. Why are you so keen on the trust turbo's? Perhaps you might want to look at a GCG turbo or such? matt
  17. I'd be interested in going up again later in the month... I'm busy that weekend though. BTW - If you've got 183rwkw you should have plenty left. When I had 183rwkw, I ran 106mph! matt
  18. Matt, heh thanks - I was a bit worried going out that the car wouldn't live up to expectations. But after a 13.1 first run, I ran 12.7-12.9 fairly consistantly with my 2nd last run being the best, and the final well... slipping... 600hp is all my cars making anyways, so I'm guessing that it'd probably do the job... Up till now, the car has had only a full faced organic in it, so I'm not in any hurry to put a twin plate etc in as I don't want to risk the gearbox. Merli, you have email matt
  19. Thanks guys - I'm just glad to finally get it out to the track and have a time to work on! Bring on the nitto's and bring on the 11's! You're right about traction problems though - even after doing a burnout in staging, I had f#$k all grip (or boost) till 3rd gear. My best run I was actually slipping the clutch all the way through second gear so I could load up the engine to get boost... Otherwise it would bog down on the change into 2nd and 3rd... It was spinning into 4th at 160 which is certainly exiting matt
  20. LOL yeah I know I know matt
  21. Yeah this is true - One of our guys had a clutch breakage, and as such had to get a tow truck home @ $250... I had a trailer organised but it fell through (the car I'd organised to tow with only had a 1600kg limit didn't expect the trailer to be 500kg), so I was pretty much just hoping that nothing broke. The thing is, you just have to go out there being positive, and if something bad does happen, worry about it then. I had 7 or 8 runs on the night, and some of the other cars there had 10-14 runs. I had to pull out early because of the failing clutch, so you'd get plenty more chances to run than you would at calder that's for sure! matt
  22. Cheers mate, I'm stoked with the times... I just wish those nitto's had have fitted... Although I guess it's still nice to have a time in my bag which is "full street trim"... My final run for the night was going to be the quickest, but on the change into 4th the clutch decided to give up, so I had to pull out early... With a new clutch, and those nitto's, hopefully I'll see 11's on the next outing! First run was a 13.1 @ 119mph, and all the rest were high 12's @ 121-123mph. BTW - I can't praise the guys at heathcote enough! They even offered to help me fit the nitto's onto my normal rims to get me going - if anyone's keen on dragging - that's the place to go. perhaps SAU should organise a drag event there? matt
  23. Hey Matt, can you give me a bit of info on the new clutch? My one decided it'd had enough last night (ran at heathcote) and forced me to stop running earlier on into the night. I ended up with a 12.38 @ 123.45mph with a 60 ft of 2.35secs. I wasn't able to boot it till 3rd gear which was holding back my times too. matt
  24. 12.38 @ 123.45mph... That was run on my azenis st115's (not semi comps)... 60ft time was a shocking 2.35sec, and I couldn't stick the boot in till after I'd got into 3rd either I had a set of nitto's to run on, but turns out the rims they were put on didn't fit under the back of my car, so I had to run in full street trim... With those nitto's on the back I think I would have quite easily done a 11.6ish pass at 125-126mph... Oh well, there's always next time matt
  25. No worrys The turbo in it now is a Hybrid T66 thingo... It's got a HKS T04-R front wheel, with a back cut t66 rear wheel. Re: calder - I just came back from heathcote... Ran it up in full street trim and i'm very happy with the results matt
