  1. Yep - It can be done - I've got two in my car matt
  2. Anyone interested? These are 5 stud rims suitable to fit R32-33-34 GTS-t, or S14-S15. The rubber has about 1000kms on them and look pretty much brand spankers. After $1000 ono including rims and tyres. If ur interested let me know. Cheers, matt
  3. gtst -vspec - If ya can afford to spend the bikkies then it's a great option, however, be wary that all the extra torque they make is just what kills gearboxes. The guy who does the work on my car has stripped two seperate gears and the input shaft (all seperate occasions) on a hollinger gearbox because of the masses of torque it makes. driftr33 - They're 550cc injectors (which max out at around the 320rwkw mark), and the turbo is a T78. Cheers, matt
  4. Heh - I didn't do it myself, I paid to have it done.... Re: compression, nahh - it's better off boost than my old RB25 was. FYI - The static compression of a GTR is 8.0:1, and this has 0.4 of a litre extra capacity. With this setup, it makes more power everywhere than a stock motor, and with the low compression, it allows me to stick a fair bit of boost into it without having to worry about pinging. And as a street car that isn't going to be running C16 or VP racing fuel every day, that's the best option. Cheers, matt
  5. Yep - no worries... The static compression I'm running is 7.8:1 (or there abouts), as mentioned, I'm running standard GTR cams (much bigger and you have to get a fair bit of work done to the head to allow clearance... Power output at the moment is around 316rwkw @ 14psi @ about 6000rpm - redline @ 7500. There's about 250rwkw from about 4500rpm. My injectors are flat knackers at the moment, so I don't think I'm going to go chasing too much more power. Cheers, matt
  6. Yeah, the engine does BOLT straight in, but there's shitloads of work required to get the thing to go once it's fitted. matt
  7. Go the rb25/30 matt
  8. here here! FYI - The RB25DET rods are NO WEAKER than RB20 rods... The only reason people say this is because the RB25 rod is longer, and hence appears to be of less solid design (and obviously not as able to rev). Have a look at a VL turbo rod - they're not much more chop, but you see them putting out 400+rwkw before the rods have had enough. Works Auto - How many RB25 owners do you know that have bent rods? matt
  9. G'day - yeah I've done the conversion... You can fit the VCT head, however mine was disabled and I had GTR cams, cam gears & valvesprings fitted at the same time. Yep - I used the Series 3 VL commo non-turbo block, make sure you get series 2 or better block if you're going to use the non-turbo block because it's already got the oil returns for the turbo etc etc, and yes, the gearbox bolts straight up Cheers, matt
  10. it's good for us ppl who modified our cars here though! It'll actually mean a modified car might actually be worth something! matt
  11. If you haven't already bought it - don't waste your money. They're crap. I had one in my car, threw it away after a couple of months because it would run well one day, crap the next. Save your $$$ for a real ecu. matt
  12. Mine's not a 34, but my 33 has always idled high (anywhere from 950-1050... There is an idle control valve behind the intake plenum... There should be a screw which you can tighten or loosen depending on where you want your idle. Personally I like having a higher idle - easier to get it off the line matt
  13. Sounds like you guys had a fair bit of fun... Good times by some of you... Meggala you did well to knock a second off your et... what have you since done? Leewah - You've already got a twin plate in ur car don't you? heh - I guess there are some benefits to not having 4wd My single is still holding up *touch wood*. I didn't come down as I didn't finish my tri till about 10:30, and it was raining in st. kilda at that stage so I didn't want to make the drive just to find that the event wasn't on... Oh well - Guess there's always next time! matt
  14. Not too sure - It IS possible to retain the idle control - however, they'd have to graft it onto the aftermarket plenum - and I imagine that'd cost $$$. Biggest benefit I see with going aftermarket, is you don't get the heat soak that the pipes get when they're run across teh top of the motor... But that's only a real issue if you're sitting in traffic all day Cheers, matt
  15. NP! - Cheers - Well the forecast is calling for 30+ degrees, dunno how quick I'll be with that much heat! LOL - 5 seconds! I WISH i was that fast matt
  16. Sure is! No more laggy either! U coming this sunday? matt
  17. Re: the idle - That's spot on - that's because they no longer use the idle control component... Cold start is no good either... re: my car - as you said - it's made 316rwkw @ 14psi as of last week, and still running the crossover plenum - so there is definitely better mods to do before you consider the plenum. matt
  18. I've had mine for 2 1/2 years too... matt
  19. Last time I checked - supra's weren't rev limited to 5600rpm! I think you'll find that's a gm v8 of some sort... Camaro perhaps? matt
  20. Ahh okay I'm a bit further out... PM me if ya wanna catch up some time? Cheers, matt
  21. Okay - easiest way to get more torque is to increase capacity. Now how do you do that on a motor? Increase the boost. If you want more power, you play with your mixtures, let the motor breathe better, etc etc... matt
  22. Go the 3ltrs! matt
  23. Oh - and btw - When you've got a really modified motor (like mine), you're right - most of the maps do need to be fiddled with. Although - most of it you can fix by playing with the air flow trim... We plugged a wide band lambda sensor into my exhaust and drove my car around for a cpl of hours to get my part throttle stuff nice and lean... 14.0 @ cruise at 60->110. So if I'm not giving it stick, it's still fairly good on the gas. What's your power delivery like? Have you got a dyno graph at all? Cheers, matt
  24. Ummm - it was pretty much all done at once... But there's plenty to be gained in cam timing I've got GTR cams & valve springs in my head, and I picked up about 60rwkw by cam timing alone! BTW - My mixtures are still nice and rich... I run mid 11's all the way to redline... If you can make power and still be rich - that's probably the safest way to go. matt
  25. Re: webpages - Nahh - I did have one at www.fangartists.com, but it got taken down when our webserver died, and hasn't been up since. I'll reply to yer pm with my specs if ya want? I'm one of the 3ltr boys matt
