  1. Cars that use an AFM need a properly recirculating blow off valve to run properly, there are heaps of tricks to get around this, but they are all bandaids. There is no dowmside to doing it the way the factory does it, except you lose the "wank" factor.
  2. Dont know if it is of interest, but the 7mgte supra motors run quite a large split pulse exhaust housing which may be able to be adapted to a gt30? Good to see porsche have got the vvt housing, hopefully we can see some soon, they run a KKK turbo i think
  3. From my experience of tuning micrcotecs, they have very course resolutuon of the fuel maps, why are you running 720cc injectors??? Im surprised you can get it to idle nicely.
  4. To avoid filling up the thread with more posts from people who cant be bothered reading the whole thing, a neo rb30 is exactlt the same as an rb25/30 except you use vl turbo pistons. Resulting compression ratio to be exact can only be determined by trial assembly. Putting an rb30 bottom end will not give you more power, just heaps more torque basically, and allow you to spool up a bigger turbo earlier
  5. Hi, i was recently given a defi head up display boost gauge, and was hoping to fit an early 180sx head up display speedo, have tried to find some imfo from NS.com, but had no luck, does anyone know what bits i need?(mods feel free to move this if necessary)
  6. Rb30 crank clears the rb26 sump, as there is an adapter plate between the block and the sump, which spaces it away. Nice sump Sayajin, looks exactly the same as mine that im making, just need the oil pickup
  7. No, when the car came into the country it had a cracked piston and missfired badly on 13 psi on the dyno. It made 320rwhp on 10psi, which led me to believe that the 500rwhp at 20 psi the car was meant to make(without being broken)Tell you what though lag city and a missfire dont make for a fast car, probably a 14 sec car if that. Now its getting a 3litre, cams, portd head, inlet manifold and autronic w/CDI Hope to reduce the lag to something acceptable.
  8. Overboring will always increase low down torque, not as much as a stroker, but still will none the less. I wouldnt discount the car if its been bored that much, as if the motor does need rebuilding in the future, you can always get a second hand block, they are around, and worth bugger all($2-300). I doubt taking the sump off is really an option in a gtr just to check the bore size, it would be a $1000 job. How do you know its only got an r33 crank. I would be buying the car more based on the rest of the car, and its bolt ons. Preten it doesn't have the pistons and look at the rest of the car on its merits.

One other thing to throw in the fire is the Variable Vane exhaust housing which garrett said they couldnt make to suit petrol, giving the lowest possible exhaust backpressure necessary to maintain boost, whilst giving the best possible response. There's the reason why im not upgrading my dinosaur HKS T45S yet, i thing the next few years of turbo technology will blow us away compared to the "old" wastegated turbos.

  14. Hey mafia, wondering if you could recommend any changes to this combo to suit an rb30, only hoping to make the same power, or a little less, but without the WI(its a friends car and he doesn't have the $$$)How much do you think the WI gained you in KW?

  18. I doubt it, im pretty sure you arent allowed any fuel(or oil) system in the passenger compartment, by sealing off the boot, you stop it being part of the passenger compartment. You could put the surge tank/pump in a sealed box and vent it to the outside. The same rule excludes the use of mechanical oil pressure/fuel pressure gauges.
  19. I believe that the internal ratios of the 6 speed are quite different to the 5 speed boxes, as shown by the large difference in the diff ratio, r34's have 3.5:1, and gtr's/gts-t's have 4.1:1

There is a group buy on the forum for the consult, there is no way of disabling the knock sensor, if you disconnect it, it just gives the code, you could plug an oscilloscope onto the wire and see how much noise they are getting, should be able to test them, but i would check that they both have continuity in the wiring to them first, engine conversions can do funny things to wiring.
  21. Mate, i would check trouble codes, get rid of the FPR, try gapping the plugs down to .8 and stick it on the dyno. If you have get a consult, you can monitor the sensors, and for $60 they are invaluable for stock computer. How much boost is it running?
  22. Doing one at the moment, i feel they are definately superior to the r33 head fr that reason. Ive fitted gtr cams. You just have to cc the head, as the bowls are much smaller than the r33 head, so you end up using rb30et turbo pistons and end up with mid 8's comp.
  23. This is not the plotting/sampling rate, it is the ramp rate, the speed at which the dyno allows the engine to rev. Running a 5kmh/sec ramp rate is crazy on a turbo car, the first time i dyno tunes(on a piece of shit vane dyno)the operator got me to do that, and i cant believe the motor didnt blow up, the dyno pull would take 24 seconds!! Great results mafia, just get that pump fixed and ride the torque wave.
