  2. I'm not sure what the exact answer is, but I'd say there's limited incentive to race due to the fact that... (a) the events are poorly promoted or not promoted to the right audience (both competitors and spectators alike) (b) competitor field depth is usually poor and crowd numbers are low © the events themselves are often poorly organised - absolutely nothing runs to schedule and the track is empty for long periods throughout the day (d) both competitors and spectators feel that don't get their money's worth (e) a lot of the officials really don't give 2 shits about SC and are just rude and arrogant towards competitors (f) there's a shitload of arrogance from some of the more seasoned competitors towards newer racers i wouldnt agree with that actually, and i wouuld consider myself a SC veteran in S/RWD sydney events, yep they are poorly promoted, QLD ones are not. hence why they get bigger fields. the last few events were run awesome, they were run like a bracket meeting with a ANDRA or TRack rep for each class that we could ask questions etc and organised our runs. i feel i get my moneys worth, and i have to pay more than you cause im UDL'd. ANDRA officals, especially the young guy at sydney knows me by name, he is polite and very helpful getting issues resolved. 90% of the track officals are great to me, i have only had one issue from one of them and he has been dealt with over it. i have found, treat them nice, they treat me nice. i think to many SC guys go there with the attitude they are knuckle draggers and treat them like shit, so you get treated the same way. arrogance if more seasoned competitors. i would say only one in S/RWD has ever given me attitude and that theo, but hey thats who theo is, he is a competitor and you have to deal with it buddy. not every one in life gets along, instead of taking your bat and ball and going home cause you got picked on my a sponsored driver, get some mojo get out there and beat those type of guys. how many "seasoned" guys finich high in the points, Mark did well. you will get under peoples skin more buyy beating them in a slower car. end answer shane
  3. gearbos came back with clean bill of health. the TC was the problem, it was fried
  4. if you mean the east coast nationals test and tune ont he 27th of august, then yes i am testing that day. we believe if the new torque convertor is ok i should be looking at a 10.2 29th of august is a tuesday
  5. adrian, i was refering to the other evetns from jamboree. jamboree last year was not a success due to ANDRA using it as part of their championship, it was successful because people know it will be good as it has been for years and still go. sydney events you have to agree get f**k all support from racers, more sport compact cars turn up to a wednesday street meet. look how many people on this forum throw there opinion around about why it doesnt work yet havent put there arse in a car at a local SC event. thats my point.
  6. i would say that track owners & and lack of promoters would have a reasonable amount to do with it. having said that, i dont feel that ray box has to align himself with andra, if he wants to make money from this and do it his way, well he is australian and he is entitled to do that. i dont think people should get sandy vaginas over him choosing to run another champioship his way. i think also the lack of racers supporting events has a fair bit to do with it. also the only a hand full of people in SC have sponsoship makes ithard for people to travel, most people running in the V8 side of andrs in super street and higher ranking classes, a high percentage have sponsorship. and then theres spectators, we get stuff all spectators to our events which also has a fair bit to do with it.
  7. i emailed the new sport compact director yesterday. there will only be 2 rounds of the andra sc championship, and they will both be held at WSID on the scheduled dates.
  8. manual? ever thought about the fact you may have f**ked up a gear change. manuals are whole different story example my car 3440 pounds 490 rwhp trap speed 130 mph 10.5 et with street tyres next car ra23 celica, same engine same turbo same power output but his is manual he weighs 350 pounds less than me, that good for 3.5 tenths of a second he runs 10.46 130 MPH on slicks we both sixty footed at 1.54 he changes gear slower then me hence part of the difference
  9. that is not relevant i hate to tell you, both cars have 400m to cover, same scenario but one car smokes the tyres to the 100 foot mark it wont make a difference. 50m of track will cause a difference as he is 50 meters ahead with no inertia. real world examples show it for me, kenny, buster, adrian. another example would be my best mates vl turbo, the fastest SOHC in NSW. he ran his highest MPH at the old eastern creek track which was up hill, smoking 205/50/15 simex street tyres to half track he netted a trap speed of 134 mph and a 11.8 et same car, same tune same driver, trans brake start on slicks ran a 10.01 et at 133 mph. simex were 26 inch tall slicks were 28 inch tall.
  10. could you drive the 7.91et 184mph supra on the street, yes you could, it still has a factory fuel tank, full interior etc. ryan woons supra runs 8.6's without n20, its still street registered and driven. i cant imagine the old XA would be to nice on the street with a big cam. but i spose anything is possible.
  11. jzx81 chaser = mx83 cressida. same chasis just different engine option was sent to australia. it utilises factory engine mounts factory gearbox mounts every thing is same except we got the shitty 7m version, it only takes 1 day and i bit of knowledge to turn a mx83 cressida to a jzx81 chaser if you use the jzx81 halfcut, all the electical plugs plug into each others loom, its a peace of piss change as its the same car. the debate on whats a street car will always go on. bottom line, if its street registered and driven on the street in my opinion its a street car. whether you go to the track and run slicks N20 race fuel, it doesnt matter, that stuff is legal for your class thats fine, the fact you choose to have both a street car and a race car in one is not a problem. the day i can no longer register my car in the lovely state of NSW, that is the day i will no longer consider it a "street" car.
  12. basically my routine is start in second gear click 3rd gear let it hit the limiter then foot off brake and foot of gas pedal. i dont start my burnout in the water either, i roll right through it and start on the dry stuff.
  13. enough to see smoke in the mirrors tey dont require a big burnout, unlike the bf's which need to be smoked to half track
  14. pics of my car reveal that the BF comp ta had more side wall flex than the MT et drag radials
  15. cant run radials in ozmod, have to run slicks
  16. i am guessing with that interior you won tbe running in S/RWD?
  17. and its only a 2jzge N/A motor not a turbo motor. so its runs high compression and no oil squirters like its GTE cousin.
  18. didnt ask cause i didnt care. i would say its safe to assume it will be DYO. how many 9.0 AWD's are there? 1 maybe 2 heads up racing = nugget, not very crowd pleasing..
  19. basically same rules as the ANDRA book, wieghts are a 100 pound less i think and the class is called street RWD, and it will be RWD no 4WD or AWD in class, oh and its DYO
  20. AWD are seperated from RWD, i had this confirmed from ray box in a one on one conversation. the ANDRA championship will still be RWD/AWD. only rays champioship is seperating.
  21. my direct port nitrous injected victor lawn mower will blow your CA18 back into the long grass.
  22. its a thread that was started cause a moderator didnt like the other thread which should have been locked or deleted to have a slow death, but instead singled out my post to start yet another dumb arse thread.
