  1. nope - new one. sherpa had rust in that roof and leaked. new roof is not that bad cost wise. you're on re tinkering.
  2. and if there were no imports what would the goose neck horse trailer owners tow with ?? (there is more to this than JDM sports cars which are dying a slow death here anyway.)
  3. yep this one is going to take some time. I reckon finding most of the sunroof stuff will be the worst bit.(yes I'm keeping it.) most of the trim is available and if I wanted to be tricky I could go parts bin raiding from a few other nissan p'cars. I remember when the 15yr GTR's started to flow in and some of those were a real worry. given a decent built on one of them (engine wise) was over $10k its not somehting I wish to enter into. that and your point about slow driving. most ofhte ones I have worked on /kept for a week were either flat out cars or slugs no in between. one of the GTR guys (customer of mine actually) helped me with all the trim part numbers (ta stu!) so that makes my life a bit easier. I'll pop a few images up eventually.
  4. yours is a GTR panel and to me you would need the correct panel for that switch. the lower parts swap easily and I would rather a clock there myself as I'm going to put a later model patrol radio in it with a Ipod lead.
  5. rebuild it and drive it I cannot do the GTR rear without friggin around with other aspects of it due to rear width being different. so the most that will be done cosmetically will be the front end and bonnet. guard will stay original (or NOS.) something about the unvented nose on it annoys me - the GTR (non vspec) vented nose I like. I spent a few hours on nengun yesterday and found a fair bit of GTST-GTS4 stuff fairly cheap and shipping it does not pose a problem either. (mate of mine has a wrecking yard in osaka.) RB26 is out - if I had wanted a GTR I would have bought a trashed one. cost on those engines is on the wrong side of silly money for me. C34 has to be done anyway. I'm staying with the manual on this one and toss a PFC on it. thats the goal and it will take me a while to do it. those that know me well know that I tend not to stuff about when I build toys. I'll simply fix this one up make it handle and drive the snot out of it, that said if someone wants a Stupidly quick 88 subaru wagon - shoot me a PM. it has to go.
  6. marc, true. there were a lot of us that were all playing by the rules as well and we did kick off the excess stragler or two. I can add a lot more to that esp the one you listed. as a variance on the one via kyogle - head out via nimbin -> Mw'bah back up via natural arch and up the freeway. that will give people MORE than their fair share of twisties. given I did that exact run in a fully laden van at a reasonable speed it was not that bad. it would not be one for the *track* cars with special needs but the weekender or daily drvier - yep! again logistics would need to be applied to it and there would have to be an exec in each group with a 2way and a phone. I'd be up for a spot (helping to run it) as well. another (two day affair) would be to Coffs ->dorrigo->armidale->stanthorpe (eat at Annas restuarant - wicked italian food!) then home to BNE. that once is scenery, twisties more scenery and great food before the trip home. that would require a LOT of logistics to pull of 50+ cars but again doable. some of the ones I did years ago were 40 or so cars and they went reasonably ok. execs - feel free to get in contact with me
  7. ok I have a stack of interior bits at the shop. one armrest with rear vents has someones name of it
  8. current subaru wagon I use as a daily. this one will be as well. no point having them if you do not drive them.
  9. yeh yeah.. someone donate a CKV36 and I will.
  10. most expensive to repair as well I'm told
  11. will do. if you want to swap tops I'm happy as well.
  12. split it into two/three groups 20min-30min apart with two way radios in each group and it would work. there are 100 of us and I see that working. the last byron run there were 35 of us. its doable with some logistics involved. both the runs I mentioned have fair sized parks in them.
  13. agree there. though if you are using that fuel would that not make the car a track only car. it would certainly be a bitch to drive around looking for fuel.
  14. yep most of these guys would not attend though. distance seems to be the thing. I remember hearing rumors about distance being the issue by some of the people in SCC09. that said I was involved in a byron run years ago where some of the sydney people drove up to meet us , watched the sun come up and them left for home. my ideas of a run for this would be: (west) ipswich meet up ->gatton->clifton->toowoomba->crows nest->esk. (south) staplyton meetup->byron bay (old hwy)->lismore->kyogle->rathdowney. those are two that I have done in the past. I know of a variance I can do onthe last one.
  15. give me your chassis number and I'll look htem up for you. I'm about to do the same thing with a 32 GTS4. edit: realised you have a 4 door. I can only look up front/rear screen for you.
  16. ta! you can have that button now. (I'm probably going to do a GTR front.)
  17. doing the RB25DET thing anyway. RB20 is catcus as I understand. I have to do a bit of body work on it first (well pay someone to do it- thats not what I do for a living.) before I fiddle. TSC - once I'm happy with it and it behaves the way I want it to - THEN I will do it.
  18. yep had a GOOD look at rohans car today. that spot is a guard issue. so we are go. still have a few minor details to sort out before it pops up at the workshop.
  19. well its official - I now (after 11 years of working on them! ) own a R32..
  20. DOESN'T ANYBODY READ THE FKN FAQ I WROTE!!
  21. you will lose the other chimes you know..
  22. thing being with SOME of these guys is they have jumped ship to a different variety of import - USDM. now I see that going the same way as JDM if they stay in things and run it the same way as its been run. places like performaxx , autosmith and a few others local to me ahve been doing hte right things for years. I dare say that once the price drops like it did with JDM then this market will also be FARKED!
  23. yep (sorry about the snappyness - full on day for me.)
  24. which is what I have here. thats not the issue. firmware and connection is. I simply have not had time to drag a car in here to try it.
  25. find someone with a launch diagun or carmen scan tool. takes about 10 secs.
