Mapping With Oz Maps On V35
Chris Rogers replied to GeeDog's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Gvn 53 is no longer built. the unit displayed is HITV and has a mouse pad nearby. I am working with a US company to develop another TOUCH based garmin solution for these cars. Primarily working on the V36 though as the V35 is old hat and the kids buying them seem to want to go fast rather than mod the electronics. -

Series 2 R32 belts: Considering I had kiippan items (green inport plate) installed and those were in my opinion terribly installed getting these will sort that out and give me the swing arm belt on the drivers side. I also have GTR door panels, rear side panels, rear seat. I also grabbed aa series 2 rear body harness ( these are DIFFERENT from the 1989-1992 versions) to match the S2 front harness I have and all of the computer gear to match it. still have to get more trim related stuff and from there I will get the GTST seats retrimmed to look like GTR items and maybe a bit more padding as the lower pads are shot from things sitting on them. lately my daughter has realized every part I am bringing home is for her car.. She asks this every time she sees me with something car related in my hand. -
R32 Gtst Build
Chris Rogers replied to jamie curran's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
thought work may have something to do with it. I keep mine elsewhere and when I have funds and money I work on it. My daughter has an interest in it as well as it is her first car and she knows it. advertise it for what you paid. chalk it up as lesson learned. -

so lost interest or had enough of trying to build a car? to be honest take what you have put into it and write that off. you will get what you paid for it pretty much. everyone sees these cars as old drift hacks now. in my case I do not intend to sell mine. I am at $20k in bits and still going. would I get that back IF I sold it in pristine new condition. nup. -

lip was NOS from a local dealer still over $400 though. glass out of japan my be that but I cannot get glass out of japan. they will not ship it. if they did the $1200 sunroof glass would have been $600 landed. local quote was $590 a side. -
so you do not have an amplifier any where in the system?

Compliance "plate" Backlog?
Chris Rogers replied to mini2's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
could well be they have run out of plates for your model of car and are waiting for their deadline to clear before more are available. seen that one happen a few times now. -
any locksmith will be able to duplicate the key. they will need the original to duplicate the transponder code. most of the cars came with 3 keys - two master keys that opened everything and a 3rd that opened the doors only. coding the master key from scratch meant getting a lock that the valet key does not work on.

poor ground will do it as well. engine noise is a difference in grounds.

V36 Nav And Language Swap - Faq
Chris Rogers replied to Chris Rogers's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
whilst I am not going to have a shot at you for not reading the top post - yes it will work and yes it can be made to do what ever you like. maps are the sore point with this system - mapping on the unit I use is garmin. they have NZ maps. ipod is done via direct control from the radio. BT can be done the same way with streaming. I do the lot as a kit anyway. no guides around - its primarily me and prob one or two others around the country that are doing this. I am the only one really reworking the non navi ones. -

V36 Nav And Language Swap - Faq
Chris Rogers replied to Chris Rogers's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
easier to bring one in. set chef on a mission and away you go. they have NO camera on them as standard with the non navigation car. these cars are a LOT easier to modify and to be honest my pick for local consumption here. they do exist and are common in japan. -
slightly different vehicle but same idea. 1996 subaru legacy GT. this car has a OEM tube that has fins for the PS lines. similar issue as you so I used a small V8 trans cooler on it. sorted the cooling issue out quite well when it was mounted directly in the airstream and I didnt boil the fluid anymore.

V36 Nav And Language Swap - Faq

PJ, thanks!! thing being I put this information out as experience from working on these cars daily. Whilst I do not mind answering quick questions on the phone about the V36, I still get the odd call from those that have read every aspect of this forum regarding the NAvi / langusage issue with these cars. most ask if the system can be set to english to which I say no. if there is a software engineer around that can code in posix and is willing to share their work then the language swap may happen but I seriously doubt it. hopefully the above post rectifies those type of questions. One thing I have yet to try on a NON NAVI car is fixing the FM radio using the non nav USDM radio. next non nav car I get I will try it. -
before everyone gets excited.. I am getting 8-10 calls a week about fixing language , maps and changing the system. figured I would pop this together for those of you that are looking at these cars for daily use. this is a NAVIGATION one. if you look CLOSELY there are multiple buttons below the screen. referencing these cars by model WILL NOT mean they are sold automatically with navi. NAVI IS AN OPTION like everything else in the car. the navi version can be fitted with 1,2 or 3 cameras . commonly there are two. Bluetooth is standard with navigation system in these cars. HOWEVER if you have a Iphone or any other smart phone with inflexible firmware and want you use it with this system you are going to have a bad day. the firmware is locked to the production date of 2008 or 2009 and the current firmware in today's devices are TOTALLY different to what is in the car. forget about using USDM units - entirely different. Button swaps are out as well. they are 180 deg out and will not work correctly without a few other changes cliff notes: system is a great selling point but TOTALLY useless here and it cannot be modified for local use. This is a NON navi version. This car CAN be modifed to have navi and WORKING bluetooth AND as many cameras as you like on it. the navi is garmin based AND touch screen maps are upgradeable via a USB socket in the car. Ipod integration IS possible in this car unlike the bose version and the audio system in this car plays PLENTY loud for an OEM system. this car had full leather and was available as a paddle shift auto OR 6spd manual. (this was a SP btw.) hopefully this clears up a few things and nets a few less questions overall.
