  1. ^^ What he said! Great photo. What camera did you use?
  2. Well my car passed the second inspection! Registered now and extremely happy with it! SKY031 - When you're at the inspection you don't think about any of that stuff. You're just praying the car will pass. Yes you are powerless, but at the same time you don't want to rock the boat while your there cause they won't pass the car on a technicality and then your waiting another week and a half for the next free booking. You just have to trust them. Besides you can tell they are just trying to do their job - in my case I found they are quite strict and hardarse, but I guess they have to be. Thanks all for your help and advice. I know we may look a bit different, but still give us a wave when you see us out there.
  3. Spec weight on 2003 350GT Sedan is 1560kg. My GT-8 weighed in at 1580KG with 1/2 tank of gas. Can't speak on the other models, but with mine, well, for a N/A V6, in a straight line, it is surprisingly quick. Still getting used to the CVT, it's nice in it's own way, but the manual mode rocks!
  4. Well of course he knew that because he does it everyday, but unfortunately it was my fault as I was getting incorrect information from the RTA and was pushing him otherwise. I've since realised that even the RTA Technical enquires line(the guys that are meant to know all the regs) shouldn't be relied on entirely. In fact just yesterday I called them up about the Xenons and they told me they were fine to have on the road unless the globes where coloured.
  5. Ok back from the VIIU. Identity Check my arse! It was a full defect and doublecheck every single point of compliance. It happens exactly as you said Razor. You are not allowed to view the inspection. Unfortunately failed for Xenons(autoleveling and self cleaning missing) and tyres not changed, purchase receipt is not enough - fair enough. Found out what the deal is on tyres from the Inspector. He says that you can keep the Japanese tyres as long as compliance "engineers" the tyres to say that they meet ADR's. Not sure what that entails, but i'll put this to the test with the compliance place. Bit frustrated over the Xenons though. Been reading up on some threads here. Needless to say, I don't like this regulation Off to research how to upgrade rather than downgrade. If anyone has experience please let me know. Cheers.
  6. Nah mate, where'd you get that idea? It will be a 1996 Nissan Skyline gts25t and whatever the odometer says. You don't wind back the clock. It will be first complied and registered in Australia in 2007.
  7. Thanks for the advice Razor. I live real close to the VIIU in Silverwater, but couldn't get an appointment there for at least 2 weeks, so I'll be heading to Botany next week. Yes car is completely stock. Just don't want anything else to crop up during the inspection that could delay the process again. Do you know if I need a weighbridge ticket to register it? RTA wasn't sure.
  8. Went to the RTA today for my Saturday morning runaround with all my paperwork, all excited about finally getting my rego for my V35(3 months last week since I bought the car in Japan). After 40 minutes exactly at the counter trading paperwork with the nice lady, I get told, I have been selected for a "random" identity check. I said, "Huh?" She said, "they have to check the numbers of the car to make sure it's not stolen" I'm like, "doesn't the blue slip guy and/or compliance guy and/or customs guy and/or DOTARS do that?" She says, "Yeah but sometimes we like to doublecheck" I say, "ok i'll go get the car and i'll meet you out front" She says, "no you have to book it in. Earliest we can do is 2 weeks away 7am in the morning in South Penrith." My stomache drops. Might as well be in Bathurst. Finally after looking around she manages to find a booking next week. "Oh and btw, you are going to have to resubmit all your paperwork next time you want to register this car." Great. Questions, 1) what exactly is this "Vehicle Identification Inspection". I know they check vins and engine numbers. But is that all? Is it like a defect check too? See below. 2) Compliance guy says that you need new tyres for compliance. RTA Technical says that I CAN run Japanese tyres on the road as long as they are load rated and tread is legal. NO, they don't have to be DOT rated. Checked this twice. This seems a bit conflicting to me. What's the point of paying $1000 for tyres for compliance if you are allowed to use your Japanese tyres on the road? Can someone please clarify in case I have misunderstood. 3) What I've done - The tyres that I bought are Brigestone G3's. They are out of stock everywhere till beginning of next month, so unable to put them on the car as yet. Compliance guy says thats fine as long as you buy them and provide receipt. I've done this. So question is will I get defected or shafted otherwise at this vehicle inspection because I haven't put on new tyres yet. 4) Do I need a weighbridge ticket? The RTA guys went from you do, then you don't, then maybe, that's ok we'll submit it without it for now. I feel totally gutted right now, I was so close today yet they were just teasing me Such a long and arduous process hoping to hear from actual people in Sydney that have done this identity check please. Many thanks.
  9. You can pick them up from me from North Ryde in Sydney, but happy to work something out if you PM me your location. Otherwise postage is only $5 express post for both. Cheers.

  12. ^^^^^^^ What he said. Same.
  13. Syphon - please refer to post #4. Can we please have this locked or better still deleted before someone else tries to tell me there is a search function. Selling the Skyline now, so no longer relevant. Cheers.
  14. 1st one still available now, $30!
  15. PM Sent. Both sold pending payment.
  16. BOTH ARE SOLD NOW - THANKS I have 2 x passenger side headlights from Series 1 Both have slight damage, Number 2 is almost brand new. 1) $30 - Made in 2001 - Bit cloudy, few scratches over the indicator part 2) $100 - slight burr in the bottom part of the headlight, really not very noticable when it was in the car, but insurance replaced anyway. Apart from that like brand new. This headlight is not even 1 year old. There are no cracks/leaks on both, and no noticeable marks on the remainder of the headlights apart from what i've mentioned. All bulbs are included. I also have high res pics of these if interested, or if your in Sydney, come have a look if you want.
  17. Man you guys are tough! If I had posted a thread that asked the question, "What colour underpants are you wearing today?" I'm sure it would be heralded as the greatest thread on SAU! I still have questions related to this topic, and I was hoping to point that thread towards a final solution to help me. Of course, it is your board you can treat people as you like. SK didn't seem to mind helping me, however I seem to have pissed off the mod of that forum because i used up 10K of space. So what if we have yet another thread on this particular topic? There are many others that are duplicated, "that everyone should already know" as well. Nismoid seems to encourage and partake in a lot of them too. Maybe I should have typed my thread using SMS speak so it seemed legitimate. For the record I have gone through many many searches and reading posts over the years as a member and I still felt the need to post. Yes I did get the general rumoured consensus, but that is not what I was after. It was recommended for me to post from the guy that sells the things in the group buys, because "I reckon you'd turn up some interest and hopefully some answers" so if he thinks it is of interest, then there should be some credence to the topic, albeit ONCE AGAIN, and I thought I would be helping other people as well. As you can see from my history, I don't post very often, so I really felt the need for some help. But that's ok, you should stick to your decision is you feel you were being, "perfectly fair". Don't expect that everyone is up to your level of knowledge or has heaps of friends they can bounce these topics off. With the database so large now, you have to appreciate that Search does not always offer fruitful results in even a generous amount of time to go through each thread. Of course I used search! Imagine how overwhelmed a newbie would be! Razor had to find a post from 2 years ago that gave me the info I asked for(thanks for that btw, that's what I was after). In future, you need to at least leave yourselves open to these possibilities and be "fairer" to the people you are meant to be helping.
  18. Not sure if you got my PM, I might have incorrectly sent it to the wrong person. It said the following:- Hey mate, could you please reopen that thread long enough for me to post the reply that I have been typing for the past 20 minutes. It's a bit harsh the attitude you guys take to an honest question. I thought this was a place for helping people. You get so many tools on here that you put up with, so many moronic posts, but for some reason I post an honest dilemma that is really eating me up and you shut me down. I'm sorry I don't know you at all like probably all your other mates on here, but once again your attitude is uncalled for. Please reopen the thread for 5 minutes so I haven't completely wasted my time and then you may close it. Thankyou. It was refferring to the following thread:- http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=97698 The people responding kindly took their time to genuinely help me, and yet for some reason I must have offended someone?
  19. Mate I meant no disrespect, but I still haven't found a definitive answer. Point me to a post where someone has said, Yes I have done this and the gear changing was lumpy. Why do people still post that it does work, when others say it does not. My searching has been thorough however I am still to come to a conclusion. If it definitely doesn't work once and for all, then what is the next recommendation. So if you could help me please, then I would gratefully appreciate it. Cheers.
  20. After reading the faq, I still needed some more convincing on the PFC with an auto, so i've made a new thread so as not to bring the conversation into here:- http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=97698 So yeah, i want to know once and for all if the PFC will work with the auto. Cheers.
  21. Alright let's pop open that can of worms... Through lots of reading on here over time, I have got the impression that the official line is that the pfc doesn't work with the auto's on the Skyline. However I have also come across a few threads now and again with people claiming that it works fine with an auto. There has been one on here recently, that's got me thinking YET AGAIN on a topic that I thought was dead and buried. However through lots of searching, I still haven't got a DEFINITIVE answer to ease my mind. I have read paulr33's very good faq on the product as seen here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...opic=64201&st=0 Still hasn't convinced me however  My car is a series 1 r33 auto, and I need to get rid of this itch. So I would like peoples reponses to the following:- 1) who has tried or is running a PFC in their auto and it works? Was it an auto rebuild or the original? Any problems at all you have to live with? 2) who has tried the PFC in their auto and it hasn't worked? What were the problems? 3) What is the most common(read cheapest) full ecu that people put in their auto skyline if it's not the Power FC? I'd go for a piggy-back as a last resort at the moment. Many thanks.
  22. Not a bad afternoon of racing. Wasn't the same atmosphere or excitement as you get from say Bathurst or F1, but it was still interesting enough. Didn't like the short race format, but I'm sure they'll improve it in years to come. I also liked how you feel alot closer to the cars at that track. Got to see the carpark and drivers at turn 2 really close. Also saw the crash of the Jap guy. Really freaky seeing that car in pieces and his engine sitting next to the cockpit! IGOR, F1 is like nothing you've ever heard before. It is much higher pitch and you get goosebumps just hearing it and I love the quick changing down of the gears, which you couldn't really distinguish in the A1 cars. I liked the jetcar, but was a bit of a disappointment cause they didn't run it hard. Thankyou to "benl1981" for the code. Worked great, saved our group a bit of money. I have a wifebeater sunburn!!
  23. Thanks mate but it has to be in Sydney, I am working with an insurance budget on this one. OK, last chance. I need it this week. Offering $300 - $350 depending on condition. Black or unpainted only. Cheers.
