  1. Maybe - but I like being naive and I don't want to think about that. All I can say is that when I got my car everything was in absolute M I N T condition, and I am very very picky about these things. There's also a few other things that happened in Japan with my car that makes me believe the KM's are genuine but that is a long story.
  2. No shit. Cool! I already tried prying it apart, but it's resined tight Sorry, find your own guys!
  3. It was stuck up where the glovebox is and I pulled it out about 4 months ago to do some research and never noticed any difference in operation. The number on the side is ATV-62. I have it sitting on my desk at work so I'll take some more photo's next week. I checked though and yes the TV screen with static comes on only when the car is in Park. Otherwise i can hear the sound but I get another screen in japanese(which probably says the car needs to be stopped). Can't remember if it did that before.
  4. Didn't really think about it that much! At first I thought it was one of those carbon filters being that black, but no that's all crap that got stuck. I changed it because my battery had leaked when I first got the car and I had a rotten egg type smell throughout and so I changed the filter in hopes of getting rid of the smell which went away shortly after. Also it's kinda loose in there so i really didn't want any of that crap circulating.
  5. Chris, what does this do and how does it fit into the system?
  6. Yes you do need to take out the glovebox. It sits behind there. See here for a good guide on how to do it properly - http://g35ipod.com/installHW.php?skin=1 Remember that guide is for the LHD G35. Found some pics I had of where it is and look at the difference between old and new filters on my car at 14500KM. Be careful with the latch on the door that holds the filter, somehow i broke it...
  7. I'm looking for someone who can read Japanese to sit down and translate for me everything from stickers to the NAV screen on the V35 Skyline. Getting tired of guessing! I will be taking photos of the characters and you will translate them for me which I can then document. Name your price and hopefully some of the other V35ers will pitch in some cash too. 1 afternoon should be sufficient and I'll provide a wholesome Hungry Jacks lunch and beverage of choice. You must be a car enthusiastiast(duh) and be able to read fluent Jap. No I did a Jap class at the local TAFE types either. Hottie chicks you are out too as I will need to concentrate on this job.
  8. Ok complete speculation following:- The way I see it you have 2 inputs to that box:- * AV1 - The big grey connector - also feeds back to the screen, does something with that little box under the dash, * AV2 - The 6 pin white connector AV1 is default and when AV2 gets it's circuit completed it switches over for as long as it receives that earth. What this means in my head... I can tell you that as soon as I hit reverse gear, the system switches over to the remote camera and nothing else can be used on the screen and buttons(except for the display settings). i.e. it overrides everything. This would mean that unless you wired in a switch as well, you would only see input from AV2 always. This is why I'm thinking its not a good idea to run a split off that connector as I wouldn't want to lose any of the other functions of the screen. Please tell me I am not correct as this would be a great solution. Whereas if you split AV1, you would still get all the other functions and only see your AUX input when you press the TV button.
  9. OK then, yes my car has the camera, and that white connector on the board you are referring to is plugged in on mine. The only reason I'm thinking not to run a splice from that particular connector is that on mine I'll only get input from it if the car is in reverse. I'm not sure yet where that switch is made. Whereas the TV one works all the time. IT Doc, do you have to press the TV button on the front to see your MP3 player? When does it work? Like I said haven't had time to play as yet, so we'll figure it out together soon. Very interested in knowing what that other unplugged cable is for. I may ask the US guys if that is the sirius connector or if they have it at all.
  10. Honestly don't know yet, I'm trying to figure out why you would need video out on that connector, for I'm pretty sure that is the remote camera hookup, as when i disconnect it, only the backup camera stops working. TV is still there. Whereas if I pull out the big connector the TV stops working, so this is the connector to splice... i think... I've taken proper photos of that board now, but too busy this weekend to do anything. Oh yeah and I've got a cable with connector that isn't hooked up to anything dangling up under there, next to the sub wiring. Do you guys have that too? Might need a new thread purely for people that are interested in working together to build an aux-in connector and keep the whores out.
  11. That's right, see post #199 for a few pics of what's in the boot.
  12. Great info all. Thanks. I'll do the autostore rounds tomorrow.
  13. http://72.14.205.104/search?q=cache:PBWnDK...;cd=1&gl=au Heres a good start, should be enough to figure out what it all does. Babelfish from Russian. Making a cable up this weekend. All sorts of thoughts running through my head with what can be done...
  14. Nice work mate, I looked at doing the same when i first got the car but then got lazy. You've psyched me up enough now to try it for myself. Did you keep any notes on what the connections were, I never found any wiring diagrams, so if you have something let me know. Otherwise I'll just open it up and work it out.
  15. Not sure how it is in yours but in my car the horn is really pooncy. The drivers in Sydney seem to be getting worse and worse, so I find myself using the horn more and more, but to no avail. No one flinches anymore with the horn in my V35. I want to see them wobble back into their own lane in fear like they used to. While I don't want to install a train horn like this guy, I would like a horn that will convey my feelings of dissaproval accordingly Any suggestions?
  16. Not yet. Where'd you get it from and which one did you get?
  17. What's the error? Mine wouldn't work initially either, kept erroring and I thought it was dead. Kept trying and after about a week it simply started working and never looked back. Weird. Copies and originals all work fine too.
  18. Just hunt down T88Turbo's car, pop them off and put them on your car. Easy! Great now we are going to see a whole bunch of v35's driving around with no indicators...
  19. It is fun, but NUP. Best road ever IMO is the Alpine Way in Thredbo. Went to the snow about a month ago and decided to take the long way back. Never been there before and it was a fluke that we hit that road. It's like 74km of REALLY REALLY twisty windy roads. No turnoffs, no line markings, no barriers, no deer, no cops, well paved, no potholes or cracking. You can take the corners wide as you want, as quick as you are comfortable with, but your reflexes must be spot on as you get the occassional car coming the other way. The speed limit is 80km, but in honesty, it's very hard to hit that much because its so very dangerous(massive cliff drops everywhere) and I was caning it in the Ford we hired, ice and all. Took about 1.5hrs all up. Beautiful scenery, it takes you through the Snowy Mountains Hydro System. I had a massive smile all the way it was so much fun!!! It's like one of those roads you see the guys testing on Top Gear! Oh to take the Skyline there Someone organise a cruise to that road!!! It'll be like a 10hour drive all up, but I guarantee it will be one of the best driving experiences you will ever have.
  20. Thanks everyone! Had a great time considering the weather. Thanks heaps Sam for organising even though you got us lost so many times! How do you get lost coming out of KK's??? Hey! You better be quiet or i'll tell everyone about your Monaesque moment at the Caltex
  21. See here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=175745
  22. It's just behind the glovebox. If you haven't changed it, change it now! Mine was filthy. I got mine for $46 from Nissan spares.
  23. :laughing-smiley-014:
  24. Where exactly and what does this button look like? Mine is a Premium 2003 and has the reverse camera.
  25. Froze my balls off at WSID last night! Did 3 runs, best I got was [email protected]/H Car is 350GT Sedan with CVT gearbox. Only a ztube and air filter for mods. I did 2 runs in manual-mode and 1 in the auto. VDC was off on all. The auto mode was a little slower, but the slip light kept coming on until half way through that run? Can't have been slipping that much could it? I pretty much nailed the launch all 3 times, but the track was freezing cold and I had some major slippage through 1st gear. Best I could do with stock tires. Slips are coming. A little disappointed not being able to crack 14's but I know this car is made for cruising instead. What are you you guys getting? Please list mods and gearbox type!
