The factory platinum spark plugs in the V35 are: XXXX(fill in later) Recommended replacements are: NGK Iridium IX LFR5AIX-11(Same heat range as stock) This is an excellent DIY for changing spark plugs: http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144767 The maintenance schedule says you should change the platinum factory ones once every 105,000 miles, but oh well, I decided to change mine soon after I got the car The guide is spot on, just be very careful with the bolts to the coil packs. I got over excited and snapped a bolt(they are very weak especially when warm). Was a PITA to get out. If I was to do it again, I'd replace all the bolts with good ones, so keep this in mind. You can get cheap Iridium and Platinum spark plugs from this guy, I have no affiliation with him(I found him through Ebay) I'm just a happy customer:- http://www.performancelub.com One of his ebay listings. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...351931&rd=1 Email Harold here for a quote:- [email protected] Total cost including postage was $79.60 for 6 X LFR5AIX-11(Iridiums). Arrived at my door the following day after payment. Cheers.

Yeah me too. The thing is, my engine scanner says currently running at 650rpm at 15Degrees even after resets, and I can't drop the ignition to 10Degrees at that revs. The car does seem to be a bit sluggish accelerating in the lower gears(maybe this is normal) but I thought a good place to start would be the timing. What does everyone else have written on there engine bay and what car/transmission?

V35 Skyline, What Do You Know?
-= SKiZO =- replied to kralster's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Congrats on your purchase! 8 airbags??? 1) I wanted to keep my 18x9.5backs and 18x8.5 fronts off my r33 so I tried it. The stud pattern is the same. The backs fit fine, but they don't look right(I think the arches are a lot bigger on the v35). The fronts however wouldn't clear the suspension at all. So no good if yours are the same size. 2) The whole brake assembly is the same as 350z. I successfully changed my discs and brakes to 350z brakes and rotors. Guys, we should probably make new threads about questions we would like answered rather than having them all in one thread. -
What's the correct timing for the GT8 guys? Anybody sure? My engine bay has a sticker that has some writing in Japanese and "10Degrees BTDC 650RPM" written next to it, yet from everything I've read including the ESM for the G35 - VQ35 Engines have 15Degrees BTDC@650RPM. Just doublechecking. Cheers.

Interested in passenger side one if someone wants to buy the other one. Any pics please. Thanks.

Hey all, I have a set of Dunlop 215/55/R17 93V tyres that I had to replace from my V35 during compliancing. Probably good for thrash tyres. There is still good tread on them(car had done only 14,500KM) but there seems to be some cracked almost melted areas, anyway pics will show you what I mean. Also 1 of the tyres has a repair patch in it and another has a nail in it that will need to be repaired($6 at your local tyre store) Pickup from Penshurst in Sydney. $50

THESE HAVE BEEN SOLD THANKS! 4 shocks and 4 springs. I have a set of standard shocks and springs from a R33 GTST. I bought them from a member here at 80000K but could never be bothered installing them! There are no problems with them, the rods on the shocks all compress smoothly and return at exactly the same rate as the other one in the pair. $100 Pickup in Sydney or can be posted. I'll post when sold. Cheers.

Some do have the screen and some don't. It was an option from the factory to support the NAV and TV functions mainly although it does have some other cool things like compass and fuel economy. Personally, I like the look of the screen setup better. Without it, it looks bare, but its up to you to make the decision for yourself, keeping in mind that the TV and Navigation system will not work in Australia and there isn't any reliable information yet about converting them without going aftermarket and splicing into the factory wiring and changing fascias and such. There is a DVD-ROM unit that comes with the screen but it only serves to read the Navigation DVD. No normal DVD's or CD's can be read in there. Therefore the car out of the factory does not have any functionailty to read MP3's, Divx, DVD's, etc and has no inputs to easily plug in Aux devices like XBOX. You'll need an aftermarket unit for that. It does come with a pretty good in-dash 6 cd stacker though. There are connectors you can buy from the US to allow RCA inputs for your ipod, but you can investigate those options further when you buy the car. See this thread for other info as well: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=157379

My experience:- Knowledge +1 Price -1 Customer service -2 Go CRD if it's free?

Ok i'll bite. So what's running the nav and tv? What's the setup?
-
That's how I feel too. Well put. Everywhere I go, no one has any experience(which is fair enough of course) and I've got bits and pieces of info that i've collected through odd resources. And happy to help others and hopefully can call on them when required. Will, PM your trannie problems, I need to replace the rotors & brakes as well soon so need to chat.

Man I rant about Sydney traffic to myself and everyone who cares to listen everyday! For me it's Camry drivers who are the absolute worst. Whenever I see them on the road, my senses highten like a hunter approaching a dangerous animal - I slow right down, and leave massive gaps between me and their cars. You never quite know what they'll decide to do. They might decide to: * change lanes without looking to see if there is any space - in peak f**king hour traffic! * drive an entire journey at night with their highbeams on * drive an entire journey at night with their lights off * drift lanes * come into a roundabout when you are already there and heading straight for them * spend two minutes on an onramp trying to merge with traffic backing up * and my favorite - reverse on a whim. Totally oblivious to everyone else on the road, yes they scare me...

It's not the end of the world if we don't have one, but at the moment there is a small subculture of us communicating via emails, msn and pm's. I run across a number of issues, fixes and tips every week, and I guess it would be good if we could target a specific group of enthusiasts with our info. Currently g35driver.com is the place to be, but it is very frustrating sometimes not having someone local to discuss with. I don't think it will be a particularly large area, and happy to help out with the moderating. Cheers.

First of all I'd like to say, I have no affiliation with this guy(I found him through Ebay) I'm just a happy customer and more often than not we hear about bad experiences rather than good so instead I thought I'd give this guy a good rap. http://www.performancelub.com One of his ebay listings. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...351931&rd=1 Email Harold here for a quote:- [email protected] Saved me between $8 to $40 from quotes I got ringing around including postage. No store had these in stock(it was for my v35). One Repco store wanted to charge me $20 a plug! I sent him payment one day and received them the next day. Very happy. Also sells Royal Purple, Redline and Mobil oils, but haven't bought anything else off him yet. Cheers.

Google Maps On Your Blackberry/windows Mobile!
-= SKiZO =- replied to -= SKiZO =-'s topic in New South Wales
You are quite right. I'll add a caveat. I have an unlimited usage plan(which my company pays for). Thanks for the headsup. -
May have been out for a while, but just found this out and it is fantastic on my BB. Satellite and Map view plus Favourites and Directions!! Follow this link from your BB to install. http://www.google.com/gmm Who needs GPS. Hallelujah! Should save a heap of fights with the GF - I usually like to use the force to navigate Have fun. Edit: Warning this may attract a high cost to you(see next post) seeing as it depends heavily on GPRS so use with caution.

Great links thanks - bookmarked for later.

Where can I get one for my 350GT? I had EDL send me one from NZ but it was rubbish. Didn't work and fell apart on me. Having a bit of trouble finding alternatives. Suggestions? I'm in Sydney. The plug looks like this(2 prong). Their are 2 wires coming from the antenna Cheers guys.

Why only coupes? I have sedan What do I want from my LCD Screen? For me, apart from the fuel economy screen, it's pretty much all a gimmick, but I'm so glad I have it as without it there looks like there is something missing. Firstly, I would preferably want it in English. I don't really care about Navigation. By all accounts this is impossible anyway. TV - I can't see why this wouldn't be achievable with little mods to the OEM. Bits and pieces I have found from research - the headunit is most probably made by Clarion - the US guys say theirs is but I can't confirm on the jap ones. The software for ours is made by Xanavi. http://www.xanavi.co.jp/products.html - go through and find the page that says Map Software - the BirdView one i believe is ours. There are 2 Discs that make up the software - 1 Program disc/Firmware update disc(CD) and 1 Map Disc(Dual Layer DVD) The US guys say they can change the languages from their menus. I've had the US discs sent to me(they are made by a different company - http://www.zenrin.com) The Update Disc complains about firmware being incorrect. The Map DVD does nothing. So don't bother with this route guys. But I'm pretty sure you would be able to exchange the DVD-ROM Drive with the US one and have it work. Harnesses "should" all be the same. The ones for the stereo certainly are. But i'm not going to fork out this money without someone confirming this firstly. Oh and if it works your screen will say Infiniti instead of Nissan... I am really interested in getting the Jap equivalent to these Discs. I didn't get them, if you have them, can I beg you for a copy. The best thing to do is get someone who speaks Japanese call up this company and ask them about an update copy of the firmware - can they confirm if it changes languages? That alone would be worth a shell-in for us to buy a copy. g35driver says what Chris says. You can buy a double-din facia and replace the HU but the aircon controls need to be swapped out for aftermarket at the same time. For me this is a bit expensive at the moment, and I am quite happy with the sound from the stock HU as is. The TV module in my car is made by this mob:- http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/t....jp%2findex.htm Mine says ATV-62 on the side. Is your's the same? Again someone who speaks Japanese would be best to call them and ask them for a wiring diagram. Can someone tell me the technical reason why the TV needs to be converted? I've never had it explained properly and I don't get it. I have sent heaps of emails to heaps of Jap companies. Never with any replies. Could be the language barrier. Also Maximas don't come with Navigation screens afaik? Only the Muranos and Patrols. But completely different systems. Yes aftermarket connectors and harnesses can be hooked up for you to utilise the existing screen no problems. But I'm trying to exhaust OEM options(ie , do it cheap!)

Sort of spotted Evil_Weevil today... I called a company out of the blue and it was him! SPINOUT!

Does that sound right to anyone? That sounds like really poor advice. I also have 3rd party, through Shannon's though, and they really went the extra mile when I've been in a few similar situations, i.e people denying having hit me, and others having no insurance at all. They took care of all the letters of demand, etc.

Just typing this quickly excuse the brief sentences. A little bit of practical experience as I have taken a parking find to court and won. I got done for "No Stopping" doing a 3 point turn in a tight culdesac where there was a No Stopping sign at the end. Yes that's right - the prick booked me for stopping for that split second while doing a 3 point turn! I also got the ticket sent in the mail. It was $172. This seemed ludicrous to me so for 1.5 years I fought it with anyone that I could hunt down to show them just how stupid this was. No one cared. I had no choice but to take it to court representing myself. At court the judge put it all down to word against word and I won. Not so much because it was a stupid fine, but simply that the prosecution didn't present a more concrete case. I wasn't allowed to claim court costs because legally only a a solicitor representing you can claim costs on your behalf is what I was told. At that point I lost it and gave the judge a good serve. I wasted a whole work day plus literally hundreds and hundreds of hours of my time on this insanely stupid case and I wasn't allowed to claim costs. But again it was like talking to a brick wall. Judge didn't care. Was also told that even if I did get representation, that not all my solicitors fees are paid for so you have to weigh this up too. My advice:- First up - definitely do what's been advised above and send in your accident report to the IPB for review and possible overturn of the fine. If they say no, in writing to the IPB, ask for all the officers notes(they write these against the ticket). Also ask for any photos if any they have taken of the infringement. If they don't have any this is great for you and you have basically already won. Advice for all, all letters to the IPB asking for legitimate information must be replied to. Use this to your advantage as everytime they give you an extra 21 days to respond. What this does, and it did help me in my case, if you drag it out enough, the ticketing officer may forget specifics when it comes to court time, so if you go in and are confident about all specifics then it looks good in your favour, at least it did for me. Whatever you do, do not go past the 21 day deadline as the fine will be passed to the SDRO immediately. Weigh up if you can waste a day of work to take it to court. They told me 9am to be at the courthouse, but my case started at 1.30pm and took 2.5 hours! If you can, do it for the experience. If you can't, then just pay it and try and forget about it. When you go to court be prepared. Take photos of the scene/road. It will help the judge visualise better. Say, "well where else was I meant to stop?" Write up some good cutting questions. You can make the prosecution look like idiots if you do it well - all those years of watching The Practice and Boston Legal paid off for me!!! Finally don't try and change their thinking - you lose a heck of a lot of respect for people that you thought were meant to look out for you, and you soon come to realise they are all mindless idiots. Best of Luck.
