Theory's On Oil Smoke From Under Bonnet
PSI_GTSII replied to PSI_GTSII's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I had a workshop change the turbos, but I would say it still has the standard Oil lines and return pipes on it, I am not sure how these run in relation to the manifolds, dump pipes or something that gets hot down there but will have a closer inspection on the weekend. Short of employing the services of my 4 yr Old daughter to stick her hand up there and replace the pipe / hose I think i'll just give it to a workshop to fix...plus its just the excuse I need for a few more mods -

Changing Dump Pipes Re:32 Gtr
PSI_GTSII replied to Angus Smart's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The trust Greddy Dump pipes have locating type lugs on them, and depending what Turbos you are bolting them to these may need to be removed...mine did. You'll also need a box of Bandaids for all the scraped Knuckles you'll get -
Noticed after a track day last week. Smoke 'eminating'(!) from bonnet on Passenger (Turbo) side after track session. I did do an oil change before track day and slightly overfilled. Still smokes after each drive, the harder you drive it the more smoke seems to appear (although I'd would'nt describe the amount of smoke as thick) Has now started to leak oil onto driveway No oil leak visible from top of motor Have degreased underneath but nothing immidiately obvious, although could not see to well. Turbos are reletively new garrett GT2560R's, less than 5000kms on them, no boost controler on my car so never worked to hard. Air Filters are oil free. I do not think the turbos are damaged, but suspect broken oil line leaking onto something hot down there? Any ideas? Cheers Lindsay

Interesting...our suburb are underachievers in almost everything Although the one thing we do excel at is owning Mitsubishis! Could be true, I own a Magna and Pajero, neighbours on both sides of us own Pajeros and the people over the road!

Importing From England?
PSI_GTSII replied to dodge's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
I was in the UK 10 years ago and was looking at importing cars, I seem to recall the rule there of a 50% custom duty on value of car unless you had owned and have prove of ownership for 12 months, then it drops to around 15% or 0% May have changed now, but something to check -
Unique Autosports Porsche Brake Kit
PSI_GTSII replied to Maxi_z's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Just had a closer look at mine and yes there is only about 2-3mm gap at best between the caliper and the rim, the CSC calipers on Andrews looks even closer again, so not enough to accomadate the 5mm extra required to fit the 365mm rotors I suspect. -

Thanks Mate To early to tell as to there performance as yet...but definately look horn! Although did choose the Black calipers (rather than Red or Gold) to keep the wank factor to a minimum BTW, is this the kit here? If so it mentions it has the Caliper adaptors, and is shown behind a 34GTR rim UAS GT3, 6 PISTON BIG BRAKE KIT KIT INCLUDES: PORSCHE 6 DIFFERENTIAL PISTON LIGHTWEIGHT MONOBLOCK GT3 CALIPERS AS USED IN THE CARRERA CUP. 350 OR 365MM TWO PIECE ROTORS, CALIPER ADAPTERS, CAP BOLTS AND BRAIDED BRAKE LINES. Your Car Color Reveals Your Personality
PSI_GTSII replied to Modena's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Whata loada crap these surveys are.... I own/drive 3 cars, and non of the descriptions actually match my personailty Black R32GTR: (Supposedly)Aggressive personality or someone who is an outsider or rebel. Of all car colors, this is the most likely to be involved in an accident. (Actual) Cool calm collected most of the time, nothing to prove to anyone as cars reputation speaks for itself, actually spend more time cruizin under the speed limit with this one....really! Silver TJ Magna: (Supposedly)Cool, calm and slightly aloof. (Actual) Always Aggressive, drive this one to work each day, constantly frustated at Knobhead drivers and there inattentive driving behaviour! Blue NM Pajero GLS: (Suppossedly) Introspective, reflective and cautious. (Actual) My Weekend warrior and Family outing wagon...cautious..Meh.., No hill to steep no river to deep, no parking spot to inaccessabile...Taxi drivers who leave main beams on regularly get retinas burnt by my Rallye 4000 spot lights -
Unique Autosports Porsche Brake Kit
PSI_GTSII replied to Maxi_z's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I Have 355mm Brembo dics and Calipers behind 34GTR wheels. Not sure how well you can see in the pics but theres plenty of room for another 10mm of disc, caliper clearance would be the main concern. -
Now: R32 Gtr Brake Upgrade Discussion
PSI_GTSII replied to PSI_GTSII's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Well they have just finished fitting the brakes and we have taken it for quick test drive, it is a little hard to judge as brakes are not properly bedded in yet, but tryed a few hard stops from around 160kmh in a new industrial estate out the back of my work (again not ideal), but yes it certainly pulls up quickly, only locks the front tyre for a split second as speed slows to around 60kmh then ABS kicks in. Does it pull up quicker than before....?.......first impressions seem to suggest it does if only cause I was feeling a little light headed after the hard braking due to the De-accelaration!..never really felt that before....still that could also be attributed to the excessive coffee I drink at work! Brakes were a 'pure' bolt on so very easy to install. Its actually taking them longer to fit the Sparco seats as the factory GTR seats incorporate the runner as part of the seat base, it cannot be removed, and I was hoping to use these in conjunction with a modified bracket to fit the Sparcos.... -
Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
PSI_GTSII replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Ewww..they are ripping you off big time! Federal tyres RRP is $475 for the size mentioned above. I had the exact same tyres fitted to my GTR for just under retail. -
What Do You Think Of My Drag Slip...14.78sec Et
PSI_GTSII replied to r33madd's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
When my old R31 RB30ET had 208rwKW it was running 109mph Terminals. Personally I think your car is probably not producing 200rwKW. Still with a terminal speed of around 100mph as you are now, you really should be just scraping into the 13's -

Exactly Mines a cheaper Helmet but at least its New. Bought it from one of those Motorcycle shops on the causeway. My motorcycle riding mate calls it an 'Ice Cream container' believing it offers about as much protection

PSI_GTSII replied to PSI_GTSII's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah to be honest I actually prefered the AP racing Calipers and discs, and had this discussion with the guys in the shop as to which way to go as they were very similarly priced, Brembos were chosen purely as they were factory Fitment on GTRs...and as my car is never going to be a stripped out racer I decided to stay with the factory look Not sure with the Hats and there design but can see what your saying. -

My Brakes arrived today Should fit them up this weekend all going well as trackday at Barbegello on the 28th September, will give honest opinion then on there performance They are physically Massive, and will look great behind my wheels...although I kinda like looking at them on the kitchen table for now!.....not sure what the Mrs will think when she gets home however -
Now: R32 Gtr Brake Upgrade Discussion
PSI_GTSII replied to PSI_GTSII's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
That was a good read thankyou Alot of you guys are very serious about your brakes and suspension setups! So in summary, for an R32 GTR that is to be street driven, has under 250rwKWs, and is occasionally to be used in short Hillclimbs, Club style Track days against the clock and Motorkhanas (And i'm Guessing the majority of 32 GTR owners fall into this catagory) The best brake upgrade would be: Motul RBF600 fluid DBA4000 replacement rotors (Retaining original Calipers) Ferado DS2500 pads -
Nice! LJ Torana is it?

PSI_GTSII replied to PSI_GTSII's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Could'nt agree more I have just bought some Semi Slicks, will concentrate on suspension next.....brakes are costing me nothing, work is paying (salarys sh*t so have to have perks!) Ended up getting the Brembo's, they are slightly cheaper than the AP and the disk size was bigger 355mm vs 343mm although the AP Caliper is a 6 piston jobbie, and the Brembo only a 4, there is also a 3 week wait to import either of them.
