  1. I will look forward to reading your next column in PI chef haha
  2. it takes a special skill to lose it on a straight section
  3. thanks dude.. i need to get cracking on it and so some more work... few things need improving now. I have a facebook fan page if any one is interested! feel free to visit my page here here's a few clips from DSC this weekend.
  4. if you were in sa i would have come around and done it for you by now
  5. yeah mate personally if i was in your shoes i'd be out in the shed right now and whip that head off... then make a decision from there. if the piston crowns are all ok and no damage to anything other then valves then just do a head swap and save your self a head f**k (you see what i did there) post pics of the head and bottom end if you are un sure.
  6. bring on the new drift car... do you need a driver for it i see what your saying about the track and conditions... yeah it is shocking in thr wet.. theres about 15 different grip levels out there in the wet with each corner and straight offering a variety. the most thrashed sectiong of the track drift wise (the esses) seemed to be the best in terms of grip. the northern hair pin and the following left hander being the worst. I found that just driving around that left hander my car would start sliding with no provoking at all. faily certain theres a large amount of oil/cememnt dust and other random shit causing that. i also agree that there are a lot of shitboxes in drift... the prac days we have should have safety checks. as for peening of the track and taking rubber off the racing line... this ones open for debate really..no race track in the world offers the same grip levels like the day it was freshly laid so i'd put the slower times down to wear and tear due to age and use of the track. however that said one of the most drifted tracks in the world, tsukuba, continues to offer assonishing times for time attack.
  7. i doubt it would have... worst case it would have put a dent or mark in the piston... if thats the case file/sand it out and keep going. the valves are weak as piss in comparison to the piston.
  8. yeah dry grass you would have been fine... in fact you wouldnt have even got onto the edge of the track but sadly that didnt happen. blame the drifters for dumping the oil on the track... its the cool thing to do
  9. torque readings froma roller dyno that are around 800-900 nm are hardly accurate. they are miscalculated thats for sure. hub pack is the ONLY way to accuratly measure torque. yeah stock bottom end... just had drift super cut here this weekend at mallala which i managed to win! on my last run the wastegate line broke off and i overboosted to 2.5 BAR boost...... motor kept it going and loved it lol heres a vid of the final.
  10. been there before myself... maybe not in an as expensive car but yeah... once you hit that wet grass you're just hanging on for the ride sadly... f**k all control left
  11. Martin: its unfair to generalise drifters for wrecking the track... the burnout guys are just as bad or worse... some of the time attack guys have much to blame also.... we pay money to use the track just like anyone else. so how about leaving the drifter bashing out of this thread thanks. last time i checked it had nothing to do with drift
  12. 400 for a head... 60-80 for a face... prob solved
  13. if you go neo you will have to start from scratch basically. you'll need to use a neo loom and ecu (cant use any of your other RB loom or ecu) use the neo intake manifold.. the exhaust side of things is all the same. GTR injectors wont fit. so if you were to do it. i would sell all your gear off and get some deka injectors, nistune for the 34 ecu. and wack your turbo and manifold on. neo ftw... worlds most reliable engine. MORE reliable then an rb20.... ooooh i went there
  14. lol small dent... if you saw the sump on one of my track car's you'd cringe... they can take a fair wack before hitting the pick up. is the sender the correct thread for the sandwich plate? what brand? post pics!
  15. awesome car mate. decent 1/4 time too! was there much wheel spin or did it hook up and go
  16. Dec's from Garage 7 did a check up tune last night on the dyno since i had pulled the head off and motor apart.. was worth while just making sure all was ok before it gets some more thrashing this weekend. so as it was.. with the motor thats seen a crazy amount of thrash time and has been reliable as hell.. and overheated a few times recently. it still makes crazy power. in fact its up 10 rwkw since last time lol. Dec's pulled 2 degrees of timing out and dropped the boost half a psi and all was sweet. I would run 20 psi but the AFM maxxes out right about then heres a dyno chart. with no temp correction it makes 405 rwkw and with temp probe and actual power output its 367 rwkw. but the best part about it is the fact that at 4000 rpm it makes 180 rwkw. more then most street cars lol
  17. was good..they had so mnuch more footage from the sau track day tho would have been great if they had shown more but oh well
  18. cheers for that. yeah might comp test it again... its not down on power thats for sure.. think its due to the large cams i have. got another dyno on wed to check up on things and then a big two dav event this weekend.
  19. to please you. end date is 15/4/11
  20. a fair bit in terms of sound... the unmuffled are best for track only cars. they visually look the same from the outside.
  21. real world results from many users suggest otherwise tho
  22. maxing out a z32 afm at 5 volts on full load full boost doesnt equate to 320 rwkw does it
  23. you'd need cams that flow, springs to suit and maybe stainless valves although i have a feeling that one probably isnt needed. highly doubt the shims will be going anywhere
  24. fwiw i'm persuing the ITB route also.. am getting a mate to CAD me up an adaptor design. might be willing to make copies for a much cheaper price then most
