  1. Frink, ill be there around 5 - 5:15ish
  2. The push/pull change didnt happen till late 1993
  3. It was a stock motor? Not overly suprised now, theres limits to how much you can push stock components before fatigue starts to set in. Im in no way defending CRD, I have never used them so I cant comment. However I have seen some of their tunes and they have been alot more aggressive than most other workshops in Australia, which is how they get the extra power out I guess. -- START EDIT -- On that note, the CRD tunes I have seen have still had a safety margin, its just been slimmer than most other workshops. I am in no way bagging their tunes, anyone who can get 400awkw out of 2530's on pump fuel should get some credit for knowing what theyre doing -- END EDIT -- As has been said, youre playing with a highly modified engine, things are going to break. Horsepower comes and the sacrifice of reliability and vice versa. Bad luck though
  4. Sorry to disappoint Beau, but another man coming all over my face just doesnt seem to get me as excited as it does for you...
  5. Theyre 87 RON would be equivilent to our 91 - 95RON (they use RON+MON/2, so their 91RON is actually pretty equal to our 98RON).
  6. Spotted the Motul rep almost getting his arm ripped off as he proceeded to give me a sticker through the passanger window as I was leaving rare spares. On the plus side, I have some nice fresh new Motul oil and a pretty red Motul sticker
  7. Im in, since ill be away next week sucking in the putty road cruise goodness
  8. Id grab a Mitsubishi Evo IX wagon... just because its different
  9. Get the piping made locally, the prices for HKS/Trust/Nismo piping kits is ridiculous for what you get. And yes, all the HKS/Trust cooler kits for the GTR are cooler only, no piping.
  10. In theory they should "bolt in" same as the poncams. I put a set of poncams in mine and because of shim wear, things wernt 100%. As I said in my post, you dont -need- to but many engine builders and mechanics I have spoken to have said it is adviseable too do it.
  11. It was a N1 factory option, water in the wing to provide extra weight over the rear wheels and better traction
  12. If its a GTR you will need too (ok, well you dont need to, but its adviseable to) remove the shims from the head and measure them up for wear. Most of them will be worn and you will probably need to replace them with a new set. 24 new shims is around $240 - $250.
  13. Might not have won a horsepower heros trophy, but ill vouch it handled pretty well and was stupidly quick around the roads at the cotter Ahh the memories...
  14. Its the syncormesh gears in the gearbox wearing out, its a common "problem" in Nissan performance cars. Get on down to Rare Spares in Phillip and get some Redline Lightweight Shockproof oil (tell them its for a R33 GTST and they should be able to sell you the correct amount). Change the oil in the gearbox yourself (im sure theres a guide in the DIY section) or take it to a mechanic to change. This will usually fix up the notchy gear changing issue in these gearboxes As for servicing, you can strecth it out to 10,000kms if the car is stock, but if you plan on keeping it for a while spend the extra and do it every 5000kms. Oil is critical to these cars, and if you start scrimping on it things will start going wrong . Id personally reccomend at least a semi synthetic such as Motul 4100 Turbolight, or if you have money to burn, Motul 300V Chrono. Once again, these oils can be picked up from Rare Spares in Phillip Other than that, just enjoy the car! Oh we also meet up at the National Museum on Friday nights from about 9pm, you should swing past
  15. Yep, I booked our rooms a few weeks back and it was $80 per room (the ones we stayed in last year Shell with the funky smell ) This is an -awesome- cruise. For those that like twisty roads, picture macquarie pass but about 100 times better and 100 times longer (not as steep, but nice wide windy road through rain forrest). If you have the weekend off id definately reccomend coming up, so far we have myself, ewen, mark, cassi and shell + 1. Shell, do you want to meet up at say shell exhibition park at 5:30PM? I dont think Mark is able to get off early, so we will be leaving late too Frink, more than welcome to cruise up with us
  16. Sure its stock?
  17. Ed has access to multiple dynos including Autotech in Fyshwick. If you want a dyno tune, tell him and you shall recieve it Most people stick to street tune as its cheaper and works effectively for what most people want. He has no problem doing the tunes on a dyno though. Id confidently say he would be the most knowledgeable and experienced with the Power FC in Canberra (come on, tell me at least one other tuner who has tuned a GTR using a D-Jetro (AFM'less) version of the PFC in Canberra? ) EDIT: I also forgot to mention, he is the only one in Canberra with the Datalogit laptop software, and he has the genuine Apexi laptop software on its way from Japan. Means he can do much nicer tunes than simply using the hand controller.
  18. I think I found this ad for them a couple of weeks back...
  19. *puts hand up*
  20. I run a stock pump in tank lifting to a 2L surge tank and then an 044 and it has run on long dyno stints etc without a problem at all. I am also running Sard 700cc injectors. Stock pump is being powered by standard wiring + relay, 044 has its own wiring. Pics of the whole shebang... Shebang #1 Shebang #2
  21. Also the R32/R33 RB26 CAS is different to the R34 RB26 CAS. Theres quite a few models around, if you need a replacement you could try your luck with a second handie, but id personally get a new one with matching part # from Nissan.
  22. Talk to the guys at www.proengines.com.au. Im pretty sure they use King bearings for all their RB26's now.
  23. Got a friend with a set of those AVS wheels on his VR4, they look hot Definately looks like a great purchase
  24. Haha true, I wasnt having a dig... anyone who has ever touched an exhaust manifold has probably snapped studs, they suck ass big time. Nissans come pre-snapped for your pissed off pleasure
