  1. 100% agree with that
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/GTR-N1-VENTS_W0QQit...1QQcmdZViewItem Theres another set up for sale from the same guy, see how u go, should be able to bid around about the same as what i got them for, current bid is $0.99 + $15 for postage. I should have mine by the end of the week maybe monday, so i'll let you know what they are like, should be fine though...
  3. Haha, thanks for the advice, thats kinda what i was thinking, if someone is going to that level to defect you, there is plenty other things they could go for, most wouldn't notice. And you could play dumb, the car looks so much better without them and unlike the GTR, the gts-t's front and rear 1/4 panels arent as flared, so im pretty sure the indicators would be visible in most/all traffic situations.
  4. So just to clarify, I am looking at getting my 32 resprayed soon and i was thinking of pissing off the side indicators and filling the holes, so it is still street legal then yeah?
  5. Thanks for the advise, ended up gettin them on ebay, $41 (including $15 for postage) so not too bad
  6. $140, damn. they are some seriously expensive pieces of fibreglass.. i got my entire front bar (with holes, slots missing) for not much more than that...
  7. Hey guys, I have a gtr fr bar all primed and ready to be sprayed and fitted, but it has the two holes cut for the n1 slots which i dont have, id obviously rather get copies as im sure originals will be a rip for what is really just a piece of fibreglass or whatever...any ideas, in melbourne btw
  8. I have heard that this has been done before but i have never seen it in real life. I asked a few places about it and they didnt advise it, sayin more trouble than its worth. and gettin a gtr bonnet u need to change the latch aswell and probably respray... not worth it either i dont think. i was determined to get a gtr bar and bonnet then a grill which are hard to find and expensive but after talkin to a lot of people it just wasnt worth it, my mate has a gtst bonnet on his with gtr fr bar and has taken off the badge on the bonnet, looks very clean and i will do the same when i get the chance.
  9. I used the Audi R8 (which was friggen expensive) and managed to win the championship, but had similar tyre issues, i think i ended up with the best combo being super hards at the rear and hards at the front and baby the car towards the end. But ive heard the f1 car is the easiest. But the audi r8 is worth buying anyway i think, when i get a new car and mod it i always take it for a couple of hot laps round midfield. Anything very low 1minute is respectable i.e my with calsonic r32 gtr i managed 1.03mins but the r8 kills it in 55seconds.
  10. Awesome video, i have the bathurst highlights dvd 'the turbolent years' and this is better (well comparing 92 to 92 anyway) and i have since found some good pics of that winning gtr, wat a machine!!!
  11. Any chance you can post any of them up??
  12. That's what i did, still doesn't work :S
  13. Well i have the exact same setup, 3inch pipe with 4.5 inch tip and its not loud at all, you must just have a bad system. A silencer can be fitted but you will loose almost any power the exhaust was giving you
  14. I think you failed to appreciate topaz's sarcasim
  15. Yeah and since when is an r33 gtr's engine 2.5 lt?? But as for the car selection, you could get a very nice r32 gtr (maybe 93, 94 model) which is only 12 years old and with the kind of money your talking, if you looked around you should find one in very good condition i would think, if it doesnt have many mods it should be pretty reliable if u service it regularly.. but if you are really concerned about a cars age more than its performance then thats fair enuf.. to each his own just remember r32 gtr 0-100km/h in 4.7secs and 0-400m in 13.0secs .... i know what i would choose, but thats most likely a biased response, lol
  16. Generally a loud exhaust will be due to the exhaust itslef rather than its size. I had a 3" cat back that would drone terribly to the point were i would get headaches driving the car, but it was because it was simply a crap exhast the previous owner fitted. Got a new turbo back 3" which is much quieter, but still powerful and has a nice sound... A friend has an r32 too with a 3.5" pipe and his is just as quiet as mine. but maybe u could hotdog it, depends on how loud it is atm, cause a bit of a reduction in the noise mite not be enough.
  17. Fair enough, but i would have thought that the acceleration figures of a stock tx5 turbo would not be as quick as an r32 gts-t (i am assuming its an r32 based on the rb20). I dont know much about tx5's but im pretty sure they are 5 door car and stock i would have thought 0-100km around about 8secs :S I only meant to use stock acceleration figures as a means for a base, the power output of a cars engine is of little use when viewed in isolation, because u have to consider how it puts it to the ground, how much it weighs, etc hence the 0-100km/h figure is most relevant. But i still know where you are comming from, different engines will respond better or worse to mods regardless of factory figures because of different engines potential
  18. According to wheels and motor, an xr6 turbo should do 0-100km/h in about 6.1seconds, and for the new model the auto is pretty much the same. But when the two cars raced you have to compare how both cars launched, how many ppl in each car...beating a car does not mean as many ppl think that your car is faster than every one of those cars... haha a friend used to own a prelude and went on preludesaustralia.com (yes there is such a thing) and would often tell me that ppl would have lists of cars they had supposedly beaten in their preludes, rex's etc, i found it quite entertaing but at any rate a stockish r33 should be pretty even with an xr6turbo i would think
  19. Since when?? The 15 year rule is no longer in existence, so anyone inporting an r32 is far more likely to go for a later model 92 - 94 as the cars are now all to be complianced under SEVS. Furthermore the guy is not road registering so complaince is not an issue. Unless i am gravely mistaken.... My advice would be to look for a later model if possible, there were some 89 r32s (gtr's and gts-t's) that came in unfer the 15year rule that were real s**t boxes which would never have been allowed under sevs. Maybe talk to J-spec about importing without compliance, im not sure how that all works, but if possible i would try get a later model if you can. as far as mods go, see above cause i dont know a hell of a lot about that, but what i do know is the rb26dett is a very strong engine with massive potential and aftermarket parts are quite easy to come by these days. best of luck and keep us informed...
  20. I understand what you are saying Warren, my only thought is that a comparison of stock cars acceleration gives you a clear indication of which car was quicker off the factory floor, and therefore which car when modified would benefit even more. So if as stated above an r33 gts-t is about half a second quicker 0-100km/h than an r32, if both had turbo back exhaust and front mount, you would think the r33 would be the quicker of the two. But each car is different and the times you record and rwkw your car produces is the most relevant performance figures... Also with relation to the NI R34 GTR being the fastest, i was really only comparing apples with apples, being the stock run of the mill r32, r33 and r34 GTR's.. where the r32 is like i said the fastest 0-100.. Thanks for the figures though
  21. My mistake, as i said i wasnt quite sure, but as far as i know the r32 gtr (stock) is the fastest gtr released as the rb26dett changed little with each consecutive model, while the weight gain was a different story. An r32 GTR capable of 0-100km/h in 4.7sec and 0-400m in 13.0sec. Please tell me that is the fastest of the GTR's??? (assuming stock comparison ofcourse)
  22. I wouldn't place a huge focus on kilometers, for one thing most skylines odometers have been tampered with. When you test a car you can gauge by the condition of interior (wear on g/stick s/wheel, drivers seat, etc) and how it drives as to the condition of the car and engine, plus get a mechanical inspection. If the engine is in good running order, and u change oil every 5,000km and service every 10,000km you should have a very long running engine. My family still has a nissan '82 bluebird with over 400,000km that still runs, despite not being looked after nearly as well as it could have been. Nissan engines are generally quite reliable and built to last and if well looked after will go for ages. Just my 2 cents
  23. Times like this im glad i just got cable internet connected.... looking forard to downloading some of these videos
  24. I was under the impression stock r32's were quicker than r33's due to the weight gain, as the extra torque of the rb25 was not enough to overcome the weight making it marginally slower 0-100km/h than an r32. An r32 gts-t will do 0-100km/h stock in 6.5 from what i have read (89 model) later model gained 40kg and was not as quick. But maybe I am wrong... I g-teched 6.57 first time with only a pod filter and a really shit cheap 3inch cat back (came with car - fitted in aus, previous owner) that did nothing but drone. Havent tried since installing 3" turbo back with high flowed cat, but it feels noticeably quicker...
  25. Thanks mate, much appreciated
