Skyline R33 Series 2, Any Good?
r32line replied to alphabeatsco's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Is your car a sedan? cause at 33 coupe with 132kw at the wheels should not have issues smoking a maxima (lightly modded or not). My 32 is pretty stock and b4 new exahust when it all it had was cat back and pod and the cat back was crap, prolly loosing power, but i g-teched 0-100km/h in 6.5secs. I know it is quicker than that now, but a standard 33 gts-t is quiker than stadard 32 gts-t. So something doesn't add up with your mate beating you all the way to 180km/h. And i hope this wanst on public roads!! but something tells me that hope is in vain.... -
Skyline R33 Series 2, Any Good?
r32line replied to alphabeatsco's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
You need to get your car looked at or learn how to drive. Your car should be capabale of 0-100km/h in 6.5seconds, and thats a alot quicker than any maxima, even with the minor mods described. Im guessing your car is an auto so that would slow you down, but still maxima's are big sedan, your car is a turbo sports car! -
Skyline R33 Series 2, Any Good?
r32line replied to alphabeatsco's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
No worries, yeah I think 32's, 33's & 34's are all nice cars with good engines I have nothing against any of them. Personally I prefer the 32 so I bought it but I was likewise curious about the weight difference. Another thing that has to be considered is the weight added by compliance. Many 32's, in particular the older ones weighed less to begin with then were complied under 15 year rule so didnt need things like re-inforcemnets in the doors. Unlike my car which is a later model and does have full compliance like all 33's would have. My doors are very heavy which you really notice when closing/opening but overall the car feels quite light and very responsive off the line and on downchanges also in directional shifts. I havent driven a 33 myself to compare so cant say for sure if it 'feels' heavier. -
Skyline R33 Series 2, Any Good?
r32line replied to alphabeatsco's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Just out of Interest, is this going by the 1320kg of the later model r32's or the earlier models which were listed as 1260kg?? -
If I had to choose from one of the kits above, i'd go for the vertex!!!
-
Just to add to that, When I just drive the car normally (as in not rev beyond 3,500rpm) it is 100% fine and drives smoothly and without problem, other than the issue of getting it started... So this wednesday and next I assume that it wont be doing any damage driving like this??
-
Thanks for the replies. It's all very confusing. Im a bit worried now, I will have to minimise my use of the car from now on cause I am really busy with uni/wrk so cant get it looked at atm. The only day I have to use it is wednesdays, every other day i can get lifts/use another car or p/transport. At least I know a few things it could be know. I hope i can find out for sure what the problem is.

Questions About The R32 Gtr
r32line replied to ryukaza's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
All depends on what you want from a car. Both are very quick, obviously the GTR is faster. The GTR is more iconic and has a history/following more so than the s15 which on the other hand is newer. Both the sr20 and rb26 are good engines and if both are looked after well, will be reliable. In saying that it is obvious the 32 is older and many gtr's are driven hard. Get any potential car fully inspected and you will have a better idea of the condition it is in, because with 32's the odometer means nothing. My friend recently was shopping between these same 2 cars and had the same pro's con's to weigh up. After driving both he fell in love with the gtr and although he liked the s15's he said the gtr was the car he would want to be in. He found a gtr in very good condition and has been happy since anyway.. Your friends have likely heard stories as I have of someone who has bought a gtr and maybe a few months down the track has had major issues and been up for rebuild. The person I heard this happen too bought the gtr cheap, it was an 89 and not in good condition.. even the day he picked it up there were problems with the electrics. There are some s**t ones going around and buying one will deffinately cost you big time but if you are patient you can find a good one, look after it and it should run very well -
Sorry about that, the car is very much stock other than: 3" turbo back X-Force exhaust system Pod filter Just to clarify the above post, what is an AFR meter? does this have to do with ariflow?
-
Yeah that was one of the next things I felt could quite likely be a cause of the problem. But I was wondering if the AAC valve is (and im not sure if this is so) causing the idle issue could that have any relation to the flat spot?
-
Hi Guys, I have recently been having problems with my 32 gts-t. Basically under hard/full acceleration the car was flat spotting where it felt as though petrol was not getting into the engine properly around 4 - 5.5 thousand rpm. First my mechanic tried a fuel additive which seemed to fix it but then it slowly returned. Then got the injectors ultrasonic cleaned. Again, seemed to fix it despite the fact that when i got it back the car had serious problems starting which it still does. 2 out of 3 times i hold it on start while its turning over and over and doesn’t come to life. After a second try it splutters into life. Now the flat spot has returned again. It has cost $300 with additive and injector cleaning so far and back where i started. Also, it also does not idle well, specifically when pulling up to lights and selecting neutral while rolling to a stop the revs nearly drop to 0-100rpm. I stop and it comes back up, goes down, up..... I have a feeling from what I have read on these forums that the problem may be related to the AAC valve but I would appreciate anyone who could offer any advice. Thank you in advance!

I agree, and I know of ppl who have done the conversion and got a certificate from nissan saying the rb25det came out in the r32 skyline meaning no need for engineers certificate. Its less likely to have complications and as above, is a proven way to get good results...all the best
-
Well this is the version with white rims, i dont think it looks too bad, but i still prefer the others.

Well my mate did a quick photshop of a pic of my car...he put on the rims I am thinking of getting. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated...heres the before and after

How To Tell The Difference
r32line replied to murrayis's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
When I got my insurance (3rd party fire/theft) I told them bout exhaust etc, which they said doesn't make much of a difference. They said the fact that its 93 increases the premium...cause i had got a quote b4 i bought the car, i used a 1991 r32 gts-t with basic mods just to get an idea and it was a fair bit cheaper than my actual quote for the real car. -
Ive got a X-force 3" turbo back system (with down/front pipe) on my 32 with stainless steel high flowed cat and the tip/cannon is stainless, the rest is just normal, but anyway, its a very nice exahust, sounds good and not loud or droney and gave a noticeable power increase over my pervious cheap 3" cat back that was on the car wen i bought it... In short i would recommend the brand..
-
Yeah very nice 32 man, luv those rims but what is with your camera? my fone takes photos much better than that... i'd be taking it back to the shop asap. heres one of mine (in progress) i took on the fone, getting rims soon then lower it and that will be it for a while before i go broke...

Buying 2 R33 Skylines Need Help Please
r32line replied to sky high's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I’m glad you like your car, I was only informing you of why they are referred to as boats and personally I would much rather have my car with its less rwkw from the factory than a 33 which is why I bought a 32. To me there is far more to a car than rwkw's......... -
Buying 2 R33 Skylines Need Help Please
r32line replied to sky high's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I think its more based on the way they look, particularly the rear...but i guess watever floats your boat (pun intended) -
$500 - $700 but then again sumthing is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it so who knows... but yeah as long as its not dented cause aluminim is hard to work with.
-
If I was you (and i was in the same situation not too long ago) I would get an xforce 3" turbo back exhaust with 4.5" tip. I got it fitted for $990. Both the tip/cannon and the cat (high flowed) are stainless steel while the rest is mild steel. It sound very nice but is not too loud and gave a noticeable gain over the previous 3" cat back crap exhaust that was on before.

R32 Gtr Genuine Bonnet - Aluminium
r32line replied to Beer Baron's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I was under the impression that aluminium is very hard to work with and that its not a matter of just simply popping out a dent?? -
is that the lancia rally car? cause i have that too, that is a very impressive car, light, fast and handles like its on rails, but yeah off the line the RS4 should take it i would think. But yeah both quick cars though.
