I know this forum is not the place that people will appreciate this car as much, but trust me its impressive. The Audi RS4 Avant. Its an awd stationwagon, but if u buy every performance mod etc it will do the 1/4 in about 8.5!!! It has incredible pick up and really lunges off the line. 0-100km/h it would have to be my quickest car. i challenged a mate to find a car that could out-accelerate it from rest to say 120km/h or so... we were doin it for a while he went through evo's, race cars gtr's u name it, off the line it is a MACHINE. See what you guys think, but it does understeer a bit wen cornering, but i like it for the fun of its acceleration anyway. The RS6 is also impressive but not as quick and heavier etc.

Which Is A Rev Happy Engine?
r32line replied to sloutch's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yes please do educate us on why a 2l 4ycl will be less willing to rev than a 2l 6cyl. For that 4 cylinder to drive at 100km/h it will be revving higher, as it accelerates its gearing will mean it will require gear changes more often, it is a smaller engine which mean there is less to spin up, but i guess im wrong. I look forward to seeing why. -
I got around 7.6sec in the escudo 0-400m but the one i was most impressed with was my audi rs4 STATION WAGON pulling 8.777sec. That car has incredible pickup even if you don't launch it, it just goes. Easily one of my fastest 0-100km/h cars... i love it

Which Is A Rev Happy Engine?
r32line replied to sloutch's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah I agree, the rb2dett is more willing to rev than any of those engines in the poll. -
Which Is A Rev Happy Engine?
r32line replied to sloutch's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
But it is its willingness to do so, the rb20det feels more than willing to rev and performs best above 3,000rpm, while a 3.8lt v6 commodore does not feel like it wants to rev and feels (and sounds) like it is bring brought close to its death whenever above 3,000rpm... -
YOU need to be careful to check who you are addressing when you are making replies, while it is an honest mistake and you have made it twice when directed at the wrong person they are inappropriate. With regard to your commments, that is your opinion and that is fine, but the effigy overall was VERY well received as mentioned above and was featured on car shows, magazines, newspapers so the majority of people don't think it is a 'piece of shit' and if you are such a design expert why arent you the one designing cars for others to call SHIT....
-
RIIGHHT, so exactly what does that mean then then if others are the one to grow a brain, then perhaps i am one of them cause it does not make sense. You are comparing a 50year old car with a car that is a tribute to the same car?? The effigy gained massive press and was on coutless front covers with massive praise, therby promoting the holden brand as it was intended. Also, i find it ironic that you critisise others for making abusive comments and in the same sentence you are the one using abuse.....
-
Yeah you are, right, they are completely different, my god i only see it now, its hard to believe they were released in the same century they are so vastly different, unlike today!
-
Look at family cars 20 years ago, they all looked very similar then too, this entire argument is stupid, they look similar now ofcourse and at the end of the day they all have 4 doors, big boot and engine and have to be aerodynamically efficient so i don't know what you are expecting. Maybe you should give it a go
-
Well after driving it my mechanic felt the flat spot straight away and put an additive in the fuel to try clear out a possible blockage or the injectors which cost $15. Now its back to its best, revs out cleanly all the way to redline now
-
Kool, yeah i get where your comming from and that makes sense, all i was sorta saying was starting with a car that is the quickest and lighest, if you looked at the mods in terms of how much faster they make the car rather than how much more power they give, then the r32 may come out on top, depending on the mods
-
Yeah but whack an exhaust on a r32 and then it would be faster again!!?? i dont read HPI and dont know where i would get a copy of issue 51 from so unless its online im sorry i wont be able to read the article, it sounds interesting though
-
Also I have noticed when the car is just started (cold) and then driving it is more noticeable, it just seems really unwilling to rev, its like ur asking to much and the fuel is just sputtering in as u build up some revs so i dont push it, but i know when i tested it (a year ago when buying) we cold started and it was more than happy to rev hard and it pulled hard and quick, i dont know what spark plugs the mechanic put in it last time also he didnt use synthetic oil (which he will this time after i asked him to) but i doubt thats related
-
Actually its interesting you say that, because my mate when i got the car helped me do first service and was suprised at the position of the timing as he used to hav a 32 and knew a bit bout them and did a lot of work on his car. Ill mention it to mechanic..
-
Hrrmm after reading this im not sure this would be my issue, ad the car only has a 3" cat back and pod filter...otherwise stock and has been all its life, i bought it in original nick with not a thing touched, and its never been boosted which seems to cause the problem with the coil packs due to the increased temp
-
Oh ok, i was thinking it would not be a major problem as in general the car is fine and the problem is only under hard driving in that specific rev range as i said. My main concern that it was not major as in like a few cylinder loosing compression and a possible critical problem in the block. But i guess i just wanted assurance... cause wen i want to drive faster now i generally drive to 3500 which its fine to and then change, but in first gear off the lights its more likely to rev clean right through to 6500rpm and the problem happens more in 2nd, 3rd, 4th
-
Hey Guys, I have just sent my car to the mechanic and he will be looking at it 2moro but i would be interested to see what you thought of the issue i am currently having. Basically the car runs fine day to day and the only issue i have is that when the car is pushed it starts to rev fine, but then around the 3500 - 4000rpm mark its struggles to rev and feels unwilling to rev (almost like petrol is not gettin through properlly) and then towards 5500 - 6000 it seems ok again. But my friend and i drove it the other nite and he could tell straight away (also a 32 owner) and im starting to worry. It has been this way for a while but because i dont rev beyond 3500 too often i didnt pay much attention.. So yeah, any ffedback appreciated
-
Of course they are not the exact same and i never said that, and obviously people will pay more for a newer model, but i would have thought, that the basic engine is very similar and to say that a 33 gtr will always respond better to mods than a 32 gtr (especially when you consider the weight of the cars) i would not have agreed with. Also I would consider the fact that the 32gtr in straight line was quicker than the 33 to start with.
-
Ummm why is that? all have rb26dett, obviously minor upgrades from one to the other, but i dont understand how you have come to this determination...
-
If you are considering a GTR, then i would not bother with a GTS-4, the rb20det is not really capable of using the 4wd system to its potential, and a gts-t would be better, unless you are planning on modding the gts-4 where with more power it will be a better compromise to a GTR. But I would love a GTR and if you look around you should be able to find yourself a good one, that if you look after it should serve you well.

From what I have read, the Z tune is capable of 0-100km/h in around 3seconds and can do a standing 1/4 mile in 10.02seconds For $170,000US you would expect it to perform, but that is mind blowing, and with only 20 ever built it is by far the car i would want more than any other (veyron excluded). What i would do to even see one...

Stock R32 Gtst Power Figure (at The Rear Wheels)?
r32line replied to {AMO}'s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah, they prodused 158kw at the flywheel i think it was, theres a formula to give an approx of what that would be at the wheels, but the above figures seem pretty accurate i would say. If you are interested in a power increase, i would seriously consider a turbo back exhast with high flowed cat as opposed to a cat back, which is not that likely to give much of a performance increase. -
Sorry to see this car go, as above i agree, it is the nicest r32 i have seen, i get so jelous evertime i see it. Its always showroom clean and looked after better than most first borns. Goodluck with the sale Mark, its a car i will be sad to say goodbye too as it made me want an r32 skyline in the first place. The combination of a good looking r32 with an rb25det was always a dream of mine, but ill never have the money to do it. All the best, Simon

Cutting Front Bumper Support?
r32line replied to WazR32GTSt's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
No1 seems to have mentioned that if he buys a gtr crash brace he will still have to cut it to allow for the n1 slots, so if hes cutting it anyway, why not leave the current bar on. The only bar that doesnt require cutting is a gtr n1 crash brace, and yeah good luck with that -
R32 Rust warning: problem area
r32line replied to Bazelinez's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
If ever there was a forum that advocates why the 15 year rule needed to be stopped this is it, some of the cars that were brought in here would have been better stripped for parts. I remember when thinkin of importing myself which i decided against, i saw cars for sale with pictures of rust which was similar to the horror story above but only shown in one spot.. (obviously they werent goin to lift the carpets to take pics but it was prolly there too) where there was a hole the rust was so bad. The comments said minor rust will need repair, car otherwise straight, etc etc. lol Also when i went to check my car in some of the areas mentioned i noticed my car has plastic covers around the same point on all four wheel arches, has any1 else got these??
