  1. typical, LOL
  2. that's just a minor technicality
  3. you should do taren point to bald hill, cause that is going to be the hard bit.
  4. here's the profile of the ride. there's some hills in there.
  5. either way, and redbook price or anything of those types of guides are usually much lower than what the actual market is selling the cars for, or what insurance companies will value the car at. the missus' 2000 SSS pulsar was just valued by an insurance company at $17,000. that's what i paid for the car back in 2003. i think the redbook value is about $12k. but then it may also have something to do with the fact that it is an 8 year old car with only 47,000 genuine kms. basically the only use for redbook is when you are trying to sell the car to a dealer they will use it to give you next to nothing for it, then sell it above the highest private seller price.
  6. i've had an offer of $5500 so i would take that before i took your offer of $3500
  7. never mind, i just looked in you link
  8. which distance are you doing jase? the 56km or the 90km?
  9. if you pic me up from the airport and give me somewhere to stay then i will
  10. if i had the money i'd come and ride it with you.
  11. yeah shipping can cost a shite load, but if you know how to do it you can do it for under $100. i reakon i could probably do it for about $80
  12. ok well after looking at the pics, i can tell you that you will be lucky to get $300 for it. sure it might have an odyssey rim on it, and sealed bearing cranks but that is about all that's good. the actual crank arms aren't that good, just the bearings. for $550 you can pretty much buy a 2008 model cleveland, and it is better spec'd. but if you can get $550 for it then well done.
  13. mongoose aren't worth shit unless they are the ones from the 80's. and if it is a few years old it wouldn't be worth much even if it was a high end model. bikes have changed so much over the past few years, and gotten cheaper. what you used to pay $1000 for about 5 years back you can now get for about half that.
  14. may i ask why the hell you put a road bike derailleur and cassette on a dirt bike? if you say to save weight i am going to slap you, as there are much better things to spend money on to save weight (things that cost less and will save you more weight) anywho, here is what my next bike is going to be. hopefully have it by xmas. my mtb is ok for when i got for a ride with cherie, but when i go out for a hardcore sprint around town like i did on saturday arvo it isn't that good. just not quite as comfortable for high speed riding. i just have to sell a bit of stuff to get it.
  15. where abouts are the brakes leaking?
  16. if you bump that figure up to $1900 you could get a full carbon apollo. it's called the pave c. i want the next model up, but i have to sell my car first.
  17. no lock out forks, only 63mm travel instead of 100mm, cable disc brakes, no hydroformed tubing, looseball bottom bracket (yours is a sealed cartridge setup, which is much better) and lesser quality gears
  18. that's a pretty good price. so that would be either a 2006 or 2007 model. if it is a darkish blue then it is the 2006, and if it is a medium blue with silver where the orange is on the one in the picture its a 2007 model. they haven't really changed much in the past few years.
  19. rrp on the 2008 model is $1400 i can't find my mag with previous year model prices in it. (that isn't true, i just CBF looking) there is a magazine that you can get from your local newsagent called 'bicycling buyers guide'. it lists the RRP of pretty much every mtb or road bike over about $500. it has a few specs on the bike too. comes in handy if you are looking at buying a bike because some shops run their prices are above RRP, so it's a very easy way to knock a few dollars off.
  20. found the perfect bike. it's a belair and yes it is a real bike http://www.danscomp.com/101539.php#
  21. just so you know, the electra straight 8 is only a 20" bike. it is a kids bike, LOL
  22. that will slightly illegal though
  23. as for a bike as a weekender, i got 1 here that would be perfect for you.
  24. malvern star? *shudders*. don't touch it. i recommand apollo (partly cause i sell them) but also because there are very few other brands that put out the same quality bike for the price. giant is 1 of the few others. the bike jase has is good. $649, hydraulic disc brakes (twin piston ones, not single piston like a lot of others in this price range).
