either way, and redbook price or anything of those types of guides are usually much lower than what the actual market is selling the cars for, or what insurance companies will value the car at. the missus' 2000 SSS pulsar was just valued by an insurance company at $17,000. that's what i paid for the car back in 2003. i think the redbook value is about $12k. but then it may also have something to do with the fact that it is an 8 year old car with only 47,000 genuine kms.
basically the only use for redbook is when you are trying to sell the car to a dealer they will use it to give you next to nothing for it, then sell it above the highest private seller price.
