  1. i was chatting to Mercury Motorsport yesterday about a new product they are selling. They will replace the read-only ROM in your ECU with a programable EEPROM and tune it in realtime on the dyno with some software called "nissan edit" (apparently developed by "dr drift" tuning in Victoria). Has anyone had any experience with this method of ECU tuning? Sounds like a neat way to get new ECU maps...no replacement of the ECU unit required. They quoted me $750 for the mod and 2hrs dyno time on my R34 gtt. Normally $960, but its on special being a new product (prolly need some guineapigs to get used to the new tuning software) Sounds like a bargain, but i'm trying to work out if there are any downsides compared to other ECU chips/piggybacks/replacements. linkage: http://www.mercurymotorsport.com.au/produc...nedit/index.htm
  2. the point is to check the (potentially forged) build plate details against the original factory register...
  3. you can check - if it's had a full respray from its factory color - if the transmission has been changed from auto to manual - build month/year against any import paperwork you might have.
  4. apparently not. The engine is not linked to the VIN in fast.
  5. what type of car? that vin doesnt look right. 7a8dh and a8dh vin prefixes return nothing from fast or google.
  6. it means it passed japanese certification for noise levels.
  7. does the fast DB work on S15s?.....i think i'm missing a database for cars that new. I cant get this one to work: JN1GAAS15A000073
  8. funny shit...
  9. nice graphic, but the reflection of the garage/workshop on the door is really distracting!
  10. super black (GTIR black)
  11. trade in and buy a manual? why go through the hassle? Your car would have to be pretty special to want to hang onto it that much i'd recon.
  12. i use a small Opus (90w) on my carpc (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=129649&hl=carpc). What do you need to know? It seems to have a fairly honest power rating, cause i can power all this stuff from 90W: - 5" LCD screen - EPIA 1GHZ CPU/mobo - 256MB ram - laptop DVD drive - laptop HDD - USB wifi stick - USB GPS mouse - USB webcam - USB thumball

    Ppq!

    yes that's true...
  14. this is who i used MANY years ago. Some who went there got cracked paint, but mine never did, even after 3+ years. I believe they bolt an arm on the wheel studs and there is a roller at the end the arcs around the inside of the guard while they heat it with a heat gun.

i dont understand the explosion of personal plate buyers....dont you guys have something better to spend $400+ on (performance wise)? PS: yes it is ironic that someone who has personal plates is making criticism of them, but i only wear mine, as they were a surprise present from my wife. OBI-78
  17. agreed. Also the G13B from a Swift GTi.
  18. 8am on a monday? Thats a little unusual. What was the defect for?
  19. spot on. i kept the one i needed and getting rid of the others at cost+$5.
  20. One is gone, 2 left. I am in 4054 (brisbane), BUT i will be in Blackburn Melbourne for work all next week. I can bring one down if you feel like picking it up from there. Let me know ASAP and i'll PM you some details. Oh and yes, they are unopened. Brand new with all the gear in the box. cheers, Sean O.
  21. None ...of course. Just another reminder that modified cars are the scapegoat for our road's problems. Own a modded car - expect to be hassled. If you stay away from trouble, you should stay out of trouble. I haven't been to Aspley Macca's or Harry's (do these still exist??) for a few years and hence havent had any cop trouble for a few years. Although, i dont know if you could have avoided it if you were just coming home from a day on the beach last night.
