  1. Hmmm considering its LHD, it looks like the pipe going to the cooler would be going drivers side of the cabin? That seems like a weird setup, where in the cabin is the cooler located? Absolutely phenomenal car though, crazy crazy numbers to be running!!
  2. Havent had a centre cover on my coilpacks since Ive had my car Pegg
  3. Hey Liz, A 'duty of care' doesn't exist - that's a legal concept that exists in certain relationships between people (eg a doctor and a patient, parent and a child, teacher and a student etc). I understand what you mean but using that terminology is not technically correct. I'm not willing to take a side on this as I really don't completely know both sides of the story apart from what you've each said. What I will say is this: Trent, Im assuming, is a qualified mechanic. Liz is paying him for a service. People in the thread saying 'oh the engine was going to die anyway'? You've completely missed the point in my opinion. As a mechanic, it is Trent's role primarily to make sure that a car that he is working on is safe before he tunes it. No, that certainly doesn't mean something can't go wrong, and certainly doesn't mean there can't be an underlying problem. The point is however that there are situations where a mechanic should identify that all is not well, and thus not touch a car if that is the case except for repairing it. If you went to a doctor with certain symptoms and the doctor tells you that you have disease X, gives you treatment for that, and later down the track you find that it was a similar but different disease Y, would *you* want to know that the doctor had spent an appropriate amount of effort in the initial diagnosis? That they hadn't just skipped over it, prescribed some antibiotics and called it a day? I think what Liz is getting at is that she is asking whether the symptoms *should* have alerted a qualified mechanic that something else was amiss, and thus that it wasn't safe to tune the car. What some individuals seem to forget at times is that performance work and performance parts are not somehow exempt from the basic principles of fair trading, nor of simple good business practices. *If* there was a problem as Liz has described and Trent hasn't informed her of it like she said, then yes there is a problem in my opinion. To say 'oh workshops are heaps busy, its difficult to find the time for them, its hard to turn away work...'? What a f**king load of rubbish. Basically every other business that provides a service needs to keep customers satisfied and happy by keeping them informed. When you are paying hundreds of dollars for a service, a two minute phonecall to inform a customer of a serious problem is absolutely to be expected. Why the hell shouldn't a paying customer be entitled to expect this? Like I said, I'm not taking sides, I'm just trying to answer all your original question on the presumption that all of your facts are correct Liz. Assuming what Trent said is accurate, and by most of the facts provided, it sounds like the engine *was* on its way out. I guess the question is if so many people on a forum seem to think so without even seeing the engine, surely a good mechanic could have identified this if he also physically had the engine there in front of him... Which then begs the question why the car wasn't either returned back to you, or you weren't called and told that the top end repairs hadn't fixed the problem.
  4. Hahahaha awesome Creative... but Im not *too* sure how functional it would be...
  5. Piece of cake to do mate. Jack up the car, put some jack stands down. Undo the four bolts, two at either end of the cat. Unscrew the cat temp sensor. Screw it into the new one. Put the four bolts in, do them up. Take away the jack stands, lower the jack. Done!
  6. Bent cranks by the sounds of it mate. Can't do much but replace them
  7. Hamilton got a taste of his own medicine Masa was just as uncompromising as he is, and he payed for it. ...Besides its about time Hamilton was punted
  8. I dunno, while there was some cringe factor, I really don't think they did too bad. I mean, how the f**k are you meant to follow in the footsteps of the UK show? Not using an extremely similar formula would be pretty stupid, wouldn't it? It makes sense to basically follow the recipe but introduce an Australian flavour to it. Secondly, the first episode will always be an incredibly difficult balancing act. Having watched older UK Top Gear episodes, the audience didn't really get it when they first introduced the stig, and the cinematography of the track was initially rubbish. They even had some ghey datalogger display up on screen while Jeremy commentates the track. The biggest reason the UK version is so damn good and so polished, is that they've actually had some time to refine things. Whilst viewers (and audience members for that matter) haven't always totally comprehended new aspects of the show when theyre introduced (Top Gear Stuntman anyone...?) , it's difficult to actually run through a big explanation in the show, due to the obvious time restraints. As for the presenters, I actually think they started out really poorly and ended up a lot stronger towards the end of the show. Possibly the biggest problem in my opinion is that I felt the presenters were trying to fake genuine-ness, obviously a bit of an anomaly in itself. They have a bit of pressure on them to act and appear like mates like the TG UK presenters do - I think the best thing would be for them to stop worrying about appearing like buddies, and actually *be* mates and then just trust that it will show, if that makes sense. Don't get me wrong, I was a bit disappointed. But they do have unfathomably huge shoes to fill...
  9. OMG I dont believe Webber's luck. It just isnt possible. Stupid F1...
  10. Thats definitely not a 33 GTS-T diff... no idea what that ones out of?
  11. Hahaha sorry hadnt seen this earlier... But yep thats basically it. Brilliant traction out of tight corners, its surprisingly noticable. Diff is quite clunky and tight on the street, but if it is traction you're after it definitely works. As IntercooL said I made the mistake of not doing up the crownwheel bolts tight enough, so ended up with a nice big hole in the rear cover of the diff where a bolt made its bid for freedom, and about a litre of diff oil spilt through the uni car park... ...woops? So yeah moral is that its a decent cheap mod for the track, isn't the best for the street (ie girlfriends don't like it much) but is tolerable, and you NEED to make sure the bolts are loctite'd and done up farkin tight. Hope that helps
  12. Nice thread!! Interesting product... The setup on the 4wd looks great, really nicely made
  13. Where are you located mate? I have a 3' catback with a twin outlet rear muffler that isn't too loud that I'm looking to sell PM me
  14. What makes you say that URAS? Im just curious Haven't really seen any FLYN products in real life personally.
  15. Same with mine. RPM and speed read lower on my AVCR than on my dash. Because the AVCR is digitally displaying an electronic signal, it can't really be wrong unless a sensor is giving an innacurate reading (in which case both will be affected)
  16. Great looking exhaust mate, looks very nicely made. Like you've said, wouldn't read much into the power change if timing was changed too. Would be interesting to see completely back to back tests of your new and old exhaust.
  17. I think it looks good... Would love to see the F1 head to Eastern Creek
  18. And if you ever make it to the Sutherland Shire, theres plenty of us floating about in there too
