Considering A Skyline, All Help Appreciated!
Yo-Yo replied to Manda2365's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
^Ah I see makes sense Thanks regarding the 1 degree, like I said only what I've read here. Some other websites I've came across seem to have confirmed this. I might be able to find some later, cheers -
We've all been 'noobs' at one point or other. I'll admit that even after owning 3 skylines there's still a lot of things I could learn if I was bothered to. We can gripe all we want but this thread brings up a good point. How about writing a beginner's guide that they MUST click on to register their account, it will say things like if you don't know use the search button and tell them how to find it. OR restrict their access in a sub-forum for a certain period of time say 4 weeks. You could name the forum noob central or skylines 411 whatever, but there they could have access to stickied (and closed) links to various aspects of skylines as well as a single thread they could post things if they want to That way, if they still ask stupid/old questions, They will have no excuse and we can rip into them without mercy!

Maybe , Just liked the fact it was gold and the stock steering wheel was boring

It's supposed to work at various speeds and only kick in when loss of traction is detected, as is my understanding. Maybe others can also confirm this? googled 'how HICAS works' and found that in 2 minutes Registration for imports works just like any other car over 3 years old, you will need a pink slip and green slip then rego. Dunno how you would check the import history of the car though. There are the usual inspection services if you want to take it that far. -
bought my one from them, they put in a fm booster so just have to allow for the -20 frequency on the display. No idea about sat nav yet if they're working on it, the car still tries to pick up the japanese signal and will even use the map, I've seen it show me driving from japan into the sea before the japanese sat nav voice tells me something politely, I'd imagine something to do with telling me I'm in the Pacific ocean lol. as far as I know the phone pairing works for the bluetooth, but as the in car instructions are in japanese I can only go so far

yeah sounds like it's a synchro issue. Would they even touch the gearbox in compliancing? Hope you sort it out

The actual 4 wheel steer won't interfere with normal day to day driving itself, if you get the tail end of the car out to do a power slide it will turn the back wheels up to 1 degree to get the car back in control. If you never push the car it would be like it's never there. One of the main reason some skyline owners choose to take the HICAS out of the car or lock it up with a lock bar is on a racetrack situation the 4 wheel steer will make the car handle unpredictably as sometimes it may activate when they don't want it to eg. taking a long corner on a track. I've now owned my third skyline and I'm starting to think these will be the only cars I will ever own. If I start a family one day I'll get a sedan version lol. I've had both an r33 and r34 and both of them never let me down mechanic and performance wise. That being said you really need to know what to look out for when finding a mint example, as there's probably a few lemons getting about considering age and previous ownership (both japanese and australian). Everything I know has been learnt on these forums and the wealth of knowledge is a search button away. I'd personally try to find a relatively unmodified version, although things like pod filters, turbo timers can be okay if they were installed properly. My R34 came from Japan with brand name bolt on parts, and I got it for the same price as stock versions were going for at the same time so there are bargains out there to be had Great cars, most popular import for a reason, these cars weren't imported for sh#ts and giggles. There was a demand for them and rightly so. Good luck with your search -
You mean like on the old pintaras/pulsars/toyotas etc? Might be hard to find a new badge that still uses the nissan without being the actual logo but yeah I think that would be cool aswell. When I had my r34 I had a gold nissan badge like the one that was put in the grill, it was meant to be for a GTR but I stuck it on my steering wheel instead lolz.

Xtrail mats and Nismo wheels are now sold, thanks guys. Everything else is still up for grabs -
nice, but a teensy bit lopsided, gotta do it right if you wanna rock a nissan badge
-
I hope they don't turn it into a heavy lunker like they have with the new skylines and z.

for anyone interested in the r34 wing, here's what it looks like on it's own without the corner parts, will be a direct bolt-on to the stock wing mounts and all you need is a respray cheers -

Yeah mate, R34 is sold so no need for the parts anymore, Not essentially looking to make money off the parts, just gotta clear room in the shed. Regarding the wing the centre wing has paint fade on the top so it would have to be resprayed anyway, so $10 but they have to take ALL of the wing (even the corner bits muhahahaha!) Looks like you got some LED stovetops judging by your sig. Noice -
Yeah I had a fmic on my GTT, painted the piping black as well as the core and cops never picked up on it, thought it was stock. At night it's really effective too

Loved the ones that came one my old r34. Gave it an angry look (more so)

My Parents got their start in the late 80's - 90's recession, buying their first home after immigrating and renting for 2 years prior Might be a sign for me to do something similar given the current climate? Hey Terry, how much would SAU be worth in Yen? Always wanted to visit Japan

[quote name='jase33' date='19 Oct 2008, 01:42 PM' post='4204802' i now park in 2 spaces where ever i go and always away from the main cars too. That could backfire, was walking back to my car when I saw a VW keyed on it's bonnet, someone keyed (barely readable) "Nice Park" and took up a fair chunk of the bonnet, it was in parked 2 spaces. When I must park at the shops i try to park next to a wall or a pillar

X-trail mats are sold pending payment, S1 r33 wing is on hold Just for future reference I'm sorry I won't ship rims, have no idea what is involved or costs and I don't have a proper means of transporting them either, only my car and the g/f's and her car is smaller than mine. Other than that stuff is still up for grabs guys Cheers -
yeah mate, not about the money at all It's the principle of the matter, not even a courtesy note for me

Hey guys, for those interested in the nismo wheels... Rims are 17X8jj 114.3PCD +40 offset I'm dropping price to $450 firm as one of the tyres has a nail in it. Not so much a problem if you plan to track the wheels and put on a slick, but just need a puncture repair and re-inflate if you plan on running out the tyres. slight camber wear on the outside of the tyres aswell, should get another 15,000 klms out of them before replacement. -
When I had my R34 ages a go I parked it at my TAFE carpark and went to class, came back to find some prick left a longs scrape along the left side of my frontbar, had to have been an old sh#tbox because it was black plastic that was rubbed off. luckily only superficial scraping, a small respray fixed it but still a pain in the @ss.

thanks for the interest guys, working hard to get back to you with answers soon Been flat-out at work but should have time to reply on the weekend -
Been reading the Us forums and a lot of the guys are playing the lottery with engine mods and Check Engine Lights, I wonder if a SAFC could rectify the problem?
