Here's some pipework i made up for a mates hilux (22r), running a highmount turbo was a while ago but thought i should post in here to see what ppl thought, since i have been a UNIX sys admin for the last 5 years and no actual training in tig welding Also did some piping in aluminium for a mates r33 project (24NDA), & an aluminium battery tray and a mild steel intake for another mates Evo 6 (99GSR), i'll put up some of those pics when i get a chance.. anyway, about the 'lux, he wanted stealth so we bought a tiny intercooler which fit nicely behind the front grill and bumper, then painted the lot in heat proof satin black paint. Piping is stainless steel so the inside doesn't rust. pics...

rb25 turbo done around 100,000km from series 1. includes 2 turbo elbows, one has a boost nipple welded on for when it was used in rb20. good turbo for rb20, can get around 190rwkw from these with basic mods and a tune. very minimal shaft play, doesn't blow smoke. includes ebay style aftermarket split dump pipe with bolt hole for o2 sensor. turbo, dump + 2 elbows: $250 pickup only from Algester (South brisbane area). Sorry, I dont have time to send via post. will post picks if anyone wants, but it just looks like a stock turbs

its running pretty flat 12:1's which is a good tune in my book most of the std computers dump the fuel in when you crank the boost, and the afr's hit 10:1 or worse

I'll try upload some pictures of it asap for those who wanna take a look. Full motor from sump to cam covers (plus rb20 coil pack cover). The following included with the engine are all standard from an r33: Intake manifold, throttle body, 6 injectors in std fuel rail with regulator and injector loom, exhaust manifold, coolant lines, knock sensors, spark plugs, PS pump, alternator doesnt include: CAS, coil packs, turbo or turbo lines, coil pack loom, igniter, flywheel/clutch. Am happy to answer questions, so PM or SMS me. $1000, or best offer - need to sell asap since i need money for repairing my ride. i've got a rb20 in my e36 at the moment, just bought an rb25 to build up and put in it, rb30 would have been nice too but a little outa my price range. some things to consider when putting rb motor in e36: - convert sump to rear sump, i went with a new custom sump to clear the bmw crossmember - custom single piece tailshaft (hardy spicer for around 220) - definately upgrade diff for rb30 (M3, i've heard someone running 528i diff in theirs) - remove ABS unit because i found the dump pipe sat right on it, i reran all the brake lines to tidy it up - for using the tacho from the 4 cyl, no problem, just get one of those 'jaycar speedo signal converter' kits.. works great on my setup. - oh, and buy one of those haynes manuals! best asset i own I loved the idea of using rice in the beema.. its still going strong, the most reliable car i've ever owned.. well there is a wire (in rb20 ecu anyway) which comes off your 'key engine start position' from your ignition. I think on the ECU pinout diagrams floating around its labelled 'Engine Start'. when you fire it up, the + signal goes from your key barrel to the ecu and basically the ecu knows that your cranking the motor over. I've found leaving this wire unattached causes similar symptoms to what you're describing. i know you said its only been doing it since your recent upgrade, but its worth checking anyways.. just use a multimeter to check for 12v on that wire when your cranking the motor. i dont run a one-way valve in my setup, i however always let the fuel pump properly prime before cranking the motor.. just to get full pressure in the fuel rail. next i'd look at possible iignition problems.
