  1. If it's blowing black smoke, it's not a head gasket. Sounds like a cooler pipe or a vacuum line somewhere just toasted itself. Hence, the unplug the AFM and it wants to run okay.
  2. Change it before going for inspection.Put a compliance cat in. You want it 100% legal when you go for an inspection.
  3. 0.5KPA relative is 0.072PSi relative.
  4. I'd be looking at the harness or ignitor. You just said you pulled the coil plug off and it didn't change anything. I'd be looking right there at the spark. Pull the plug out, shove it in the coil pack, hold it against the head and see if it really sparks.
  5. He said 6ITB > 1 Single. He did not say 4ITB > 1 Single.
  6. The states don't have a large supply of RB's over there. From memory the 33 and 34 can NOT be driven on the road, hence, tuning houses know SFA about them. That being said, the RB26 in Australia has the exhaust on the correct side for big pipes clearing steering racks etc. The 2JZ does not. In America, it is the opposite...
  7. Glad I found this thread Ryan... I thought all that stuff was worth nothing and was about to bin it all... Will throw all mine up on here too when I finish ripping the dash shit out.
  8. Have you seen rotary guys giving it a go? I have... They push just as hard as piston drivers do... And the OP admitted his one letting go was a human error issue, not a mechanical flaw...
  9. I don't know about converting from R32 to R33 gearbox, BUT, the R33 gearbox will bolt direct to the motor, no issues there, you MIGHT need to change tail shaft, gearbox mount to chassis and clutch stuff though. The R33 RB25DET gearbox is excellent behind an RB25/30DET. My engine at the fly is making some where between 450 and 610HP... Car can't keep traction in 4th on the rollers... (Top figure is calculated from the fuelling it's using) and I drive it on the track and at motorkhanas... Shifting hard alot at full tilt... Hasn't died yet.
  10. I'd bet the columns for 0RPM in the tuning map have values in them that aren't 0 and the ECU is pulsing ignition and fuel as mention.
  11. Not really, considering the GTR is RWD until the rears start to light up. Hence if he's breaking shit, he should be smashing pressure plates apart, not wearing a clutch out. By the time ATTESSA kicks in to make it AWD, the clutch should be fully engaged, if it's not, then it's purely driver error by most likely too many revs, and too much clutch out quickly.
  12. Same here... And that's if you EXCLUDE Duncan from that list... PS: I hope you've fitted a winged and gated sump to that thing... Other wise I see it lasting around 1 drift meet... When treated right, a Rotary will last well into the 200 000KM range. (Which is the same for most performance motors, yes your mums Dad's Uncle may have a commodore that has 450 000KM on it, but does it get revved to redline every day... No) Edit: And by the sounds of it letting go... Sounds like it pinged... And that is one thing a rotary will instantly shit itself from... Detonation.
  13. I was meaning weight overall. The RB26 has to be at least double, if not triple the weight a 13B. Might help though with drifting, more front end grip. Circuit racing would be a different story though. Have you weighed both motors up at all?
  14. Someone tell me a date and I'll try to be there to help push cars around... Duncan can make the engine noises...
  15. A better place for AFR reading is actually in the dump pipe. With and without a cat, the AFR readings vary from front to rear of the exhaust. My car is tuned with the AFR taken around 2 to 3 feet after the turbo. And from a good quality, good condition high flowing cat, to no cat, there will be a minimal power gain (Talking 5RWKW max) but others will say "But I got 50RWKW from removing mine!" but they fall into the category of either: Too small of a cat Low quality cat Non Highflow cat Partially collapsed cat (Bad condition)
  16. Yeah, RB26's usually do it the other way around... Blow the turbo and take the motor out... What is the car being used for? As the RB26 will be alot heavier up front destroying a fair bit of weight distribution in the RX7...
  17. I'd like to know this also... Anyone who's doing "RnD" want to weigh in?
  18. Kidding right? Keeping an R33 off boost they'll out run most of your little 4 cylinder cars around that are going at full noise. If you're pulling out in a gap that you'd drive off in an excel at full throttle to "save a bingle" please go hand your licence back in!
  19. You can also buy the whole one piece gasket for cheap as chips too...
  20. What do you mean 6 standard small gaskets at $45 each? An RB25 genuine exhaust gasket is $90, and is a single piece for all 6 cylinders...
  21. Yeah, he'll be able to tune it.
  22. Is that all Adrian? Come on man! Put a stock RB30 bottom end in it and make more power! (For way less!) PS, I need some good hookups on Bosch 044's...
  23. Start with the non factory shit... IE YOUR WIRING!
